Psalms 22
1 For the Leader; upon Aijeleth ha-Shahar. A Psalm of David. My God, my God, why hast Thou forsaken me, and art far from my help at the words of my cry?
Au maître-chantre. — Sur «Biche de l'aurore». — Psaume de David. Mon Dieu, mon Dieu, pourquoi m'as-tu abandonné Pourquoi restes-tu loin, sans me secourir, Sans écouter mon gémissement?
2 O my God, I call by day, but Thou answerest not; and at night, and there is no surcease for me.
Mon Dieu, je crie le jour, — et tu ne réponds pas; La nuit — et je n'ai point de repos.
3 Yet Thou art holy, O Thou that art enthroned upon the praises of Israel.
Cependant, tu es le Saint, Dont le trône est environné des louanges d'Israël.
4 In Thee did our fathers trust; they trusted, and Thou didst deliver them.
C'est en toi que se sont confiés nos pères; Ils ont eu confiance, et tu les as délivrés.
5 Unto Thee they cried, and escaped; in Thee did they trust, and were not ashamed.
Ils ont crié vers toi, et ils ont été sauvés. Ils se sont confiés en toi, et ils n'ont pas été déçus.
6 But I am a worm, and no man; a reproach of men, and despised of the people.
Mais moi, je suis un ver de terre et non un homme, L'opprobre des hommes et le méprisé du peuple.
7 All they that see me laugh me to scorn; they shoot out the lip, they shake the head:
Tous ceux qui me voient se moquent de moi; Ils ricanent, ils hochent la tête en disant:
8 'Let him commit himself unto the LORD! let Him rescue him; let Him deliver him, seeing He delighteth in him.'
«Qu'il se repose sur l'Éternel, et l'Éternel le délivrera; Il le sauvera, puisqu'il a mis en lui son affection!»
9 For Thou art He that took me out of the womb; Thou madest me trust when I was upon my mother's breasts.
Oui, c'est toi qui m'as tiré du sein de ma mère, Et qui m'as fait reposer en paix dans ses bras.
10 Upon Thee I have been cast from my birth; Thou art my God from my mother's womb.
J'ai été remis entre tes mains dès ma naissance; Dès le sein de ma mère, tu as été mon Dieu.
11 Be not far from me; for trouble is near; for there is none to help.
Ne t'éloigne pas de moi, quand la détresse est proche, Quand il n'y a personne pour me secourir!
12 Many bulls have encompassed me; strong bulls of Bashan have beset me round.
De nombreux taureaux sont autour de moi; Les robustes taureaux de Basan m'enveloppent.
13 They open wide their mouth against me, as a ravening and a roaring lion.
Mes ennemis ouvrent leur bouche contre moi, Comme un lion qui déchire et rugit.
14 I am poured out like water, and all my bones are out of joint; my heart is become like wax; it is melted in mine inmost parts.
Je suis comme l'eau qui s'écoule, Et tous mes os se sont disjoints; Mon coeur est comme la cire: Il se fond dans mes entrailles.
15 My strength is dried up like a potsherd; and my tongue cleaveth to my throat; and Thou layest me in the dust of death.
Ma vigueur est desséchée comme la brique; Ma langue s'attache à mon palais, Et tu m'as couché dans la poussière de la mort.
16 For dogs have encompassed me; a company of evil-doers have inclosed me; like a lion, they are at my hands and my feet.
Car des chiens m'ont environné; Une bande de malfaiteurs m'a entouré; Ils ont percé mes mains et mes pieds.
17 I may count all my bones; they look and gloat over me.
Je pourrais compter tous mes os! Mes ennemis me regardent et m'observent:
18 They part my garments among them, and for my vesture do they cast lots.
Ils partagent entre eux mes vêtements, Et ils tirent ma robe au sort.
19 But Thou, O LORD, be not far off; O Thou my strength, hasten to help me.
Toi donc, ô Éternel, ne t'éloigne pas! Toi qui es ma force, accours à mon aide!
20 Deliver my soul from the sword; mine only one from the power of the dog.
Délivre mon âme de l'épée, Ma vie, de la dent des chiens!
21 Save me from the lion's mouth; yea, from the horns of the wild-oxen do Thou answer me.
Sauve-moi de la gueule du lion Et des cornes des buffles! Oui, tu m'as exaucé!
22 I will declare Thy name unto my brethren; in the midst of the congregation will I praise Thee.
J'annoncerai ton nom à mes frères; Je te louerai au milieu de l'assemblée.
23 'Ye that fear the LORD, praise Him; all ye the seed of Jacob, glorify Him; and stand in awe of Him, all ye the seed of Israel.
Vous qui craignez l'Éternel, louez-le; Vous tous, race de Jacob, glorifiez-le; Craignez-le, vous tous, race d'Israël!
24 For He hath not despised nor abhorred the lowliness of the poor; neither hath He hid His face from him; but when he cried unto Him, He heard.'
Car il n'a point méprisé, il n'a pas dédaigné la misère de l'affligé. Il n'a pas détourné de lui son visage; Mais il l'a exaucé quand il criait vers lui.
25 From Thee cometh my praise in the great congregation; I will pay my vows before them that fear Him.
Tu seras loué par moi dans la grande assemblée; J'accomplirai mes voeux en présence de ceux qui te craignent.
26 Let the humble eat and be satisfied; let them praise the LORD that seek after Him; may your heart be quickened for ever!
Les malheureux mangeront et seront rassasiés; Ceux qui recherchent l'Éternel le loueront. Que leur coeur revienne à la vie pour toujours!
27 All the ends of the earth shall remember and turn unto the LORD; and all the kindreds of the nations shall worship before Thee.
Tous les peuples de la terre se souviendront de l'Éternel, Et ils reviendront à lui; Toutes les familles des nations se prosterneront devant sa face;
28 For the kingdom is the LORD'S; and He is the ruler over the nations.
Car le règne appartient à l'Éternel, Et il domine sur les nations.
29 All the fat ones of the earth shall eat and worship; all they that go down to the dust shall kneel before Him, even he that cannot keep his soul alive.
Oui, tous les puissants de la terre se prosterneront devant lui. Tous ceux qui descendent dans la poussière, Ceux qui sont près d'expirer, s'inclineront devant lui.
30 A seed shall serve him; it shall be told of the Lord unto the next generation.
La postérité le servira; On parlera du Seigneur aux générations futures:
31 They shall come and shall declare His righteousness unto a people that shall be born, that He hath done it.
Elles viendront et proclameront sa justice. Au peuple qui naîtra, elles annonceront ce qu'il a fait!
