Psalms 21

1 For the Leader. A Psalm of David. O LORD, in Thy strength the king rejoiceth; and in Thy salvation how greatly doth he exult!

聖歌隊の指揮者によってうたわせたダビデの歌 主よ、王はあなたの力によって喜び、あなたの助けによって、いかに大きな喜びをもつことでしょう。

2 Thou hast given him his heart's desire, and the request of his lips Thou hast not withholden. (Selah)

あなたは彼の心の願いをゆるし、そのくちびるの求めをいなまれなかった。 (セラ)

3 For Thou meetest him with choicest blessings; Thou settest a crown of fine gold on his head.

あなたは大いなる恵みをもって彼を迎え、そのかしらに純金の冠をいただかせられる。

4 He asked life of Thee, Thou gavest it him; even length of days for ever and ever.

彼がいのちを求めると、あなたはそれを彼にさずけ、世々限りなくそのよわいを長くされた。

5 His glory is great through Thy salvation; honour and majesty dost Thou lay upon him.

あなたの助けによって彼の栄光は大きい。あなたは誉と威厳とを彼に与えられる。

6 For Thou makest him most blessed for ever; Thou makest him glad with joy in Thy presence.

まことに、あなたは彼をとこしえに恵まれた者とし、み前に喜びをもって楽しませられる。

7 For the king trusteth in the LORD, yea, in the mercy of the Most High; he shall not be moved.

王は主に信頼するゆえ、いと高き者のいつくしみをこうむって、動かされることはない。

8 Thy hand shall be equal to all thine enemies; thy right hand shall overtake those that hate thee.

あなたの手はもろもろの敵を尋ね出し、あなたの右の手はあなたを憎む者を尋ね出すであろう。

9 Thou shalt make them as a fiery furnace in the time of thine anger; the LORD shall swallow them up in His wrath, and the fire shall devour them.

あなたが怒る時、彼らを燃える炉のようにするであろう。主はみ怒りによって彼らをのみつくされる。火は彼らを食いつくすであろう。

10 Their fruit shalt thou destroy from the earth, and their seed from among the children of men.

あなたは彼らのすえを地から断ち、彼らの種を人の子らの中から滅ぼすであろう。

11 For they intended evil against thee, they imagined a device, wherewith they shall not prevail.

たとい彼らがあなたにむかって悪い事を企て、悪いはかりごとを思いめぐらしても、なし遂げることはできない。

12 For thou shalt make them turn their back, thou shalt make ready with thy bowstrings against the face of them.

あなたは彼らを逃げ走らせ、あなたの弓弦を張って、彼らの顔をねらうであろう。

13 Be Thou exalted, O LORD, in Thy strength; so will we sing and praise Thy power.

主よ、力をあらわして、みずからを高くしてください。われらはあなたの大能をうたい、かつほめたたえるでしょう。
