Psalms 2

1 Why are the nations in an uproar? And why do the peoples mutter in vain?

なにゆえ、もろもろの国びとは騒ぎたち、もろもろの民はむなしい事をたくらむのか。

2 The kings of the earth stand up, and the rulers take counsel together, against the LORD, and against His anointed:

地のもろもろの王は立ち構え、もろもろのつかさはともに、はかり、主とその油そそがれた者とに逆らって言う、

3 'Let us break their bands asunder, and cast away their cords from us.'

「われらは彼らのかせをこわし、彼らのきずなを解き捨てるであろう」と。

4 He that sitteth in heaven laugheth, the Lord hath them in derision.

天に座する者は笑い、主は彼らをあざけられるであろう。

5 Then will He speak unto them in His wrath, and affright them in His sore displeasure:

そして主は憤りをもって彼らに語り、激しい怒りをもって彼らを恐れ惑わせて言われる、

6 'Truly it is I that have established My king upon Zion, My holy mountain.'

「わたしはわが王を聖なる山シオンに立てた」と。

7 I will tell of the decree: the LORD said unto me: 'Thou art My son, this day have I begotten thee.

わたしは主の詔をのべよう。主はわたしに言われた、「おまえはわたしの子だ。きょう、わたしはおまえを生んだ。

8 Ask of Me, and I will give the nations for thine inheritance, and the ends of the earth for thy possession.

わたしに求めよ、わたしはもろもろの国を嗣業としておまえに与え、地のはてまでもおまえの所有として与える。

9 Thou shalt break them with a rod of iron; thou shalt dash them in pieces like a potter's vessel.'

おまえは鉄のつえをもって彼らを打ち破り、陶工の作る器物のように彼らを打ち砕くであろう」と。

10 Now therefore, O ye kings, be wise; be admonished, ye judges of the earth.

それゆえ、もろもろの王よ、賢くあれ、地のつかさらよ、戒めをうけよ。

11 Serve the LORD with fear, and rejoice with trembling.

恐れをもって主に仕え、おののきをもって

12 Do homage in purity, lest He be angry, and ye perish in the way, when suddenly His wrath is kindled. Happy are all they that take refuge in Him.

その足に口づけせよ。さもないと主は怒って、あなたがたを道で滅ぼされるであろう、その憤りがすみやかに燃えるからである。すべて主に寄り頼む者はさいわいである。
