Psalms 2
1 Why are the nations in an uproar? And why do the peoples mutter in vain?
Pourquoi les nations se déchaînent-elles? et les peuples complotent en vain?
2 The kings of the earth stand up, and the rulers take counsel together, against the LORD, and against His anointed:
Les rois de la terre prennent position, et les dirigeants se concertent, contre Yahvé et contre son oint, en disant,
3 'Let us break their bands asunder, and cast away their cords from us.'
« Brisons leurs liens, et jette leurs cordes loin de nous. »
4 He that sitteth in heaven laugheth, the Lord hath them in derision.
Celui qui est assis dans les cieux rira. Le Seigneur les tournera en dérision.
5 Then will He speak unto them in His wrath, and affright them in His sore displeasure:
Puis il leur parlera dans sa colère, et les terrifier dans sa colère:
6 'Truly it is I that have established My king upon Zion, My holy mountain.'
« Mais j'ai établi mon roi sur ma sainte colline de Sion. »
7 I will tell of the decree: the LORD said unto me: 'Thou art My son, this day have I begotten thee.
Je vais raconter le décret: Yahvé m'a dit: « Tu es mon fils. Aujourd'hui, je suis devenu votre père.
8 Ask of Me, and I will give the nations for thine inheritance, and the ends of the earth for thy possession.
Demande-moi, et je te donnerai les nations en héritage, les extrémités de la terre pour les posséder.
9 Thou shalt break them with a rod of iron; thou shalt dash them in pieces like a potter's vessel.'
Tu les briseras avec une verge de fer. Tu les briseras comme le vase d'un potier. »
10 Now therefore, O ye kings, be wise; be admonished, ye judges of the earth.
Maintenant, soyez sages, vous les rois. Soyez instruits, juges de la terre.
11 Serve the LORD with fear, and rejoice with trembling.
Servez Yahvé avec crainte, et se réjouir en tremblant.
12 Do homage in purity, lest He be angry, and ye perish in the way, when suddenly His wrath is kindled. Happy are all they that take refuge in Him.
Rendez un hommage sincère au Fils, de peur qu'il ne se mette en colère et que vous ne périssiez en chemin, car sa colère va bientôt s'enflammer. Heureux tous ceux qui se réfugient en lui.
