Psalms 140

1 For the Leader. A Psalm of David. Deliver me, O LORD, from the evil man; preserve me from the violent man;

۱ برای سالار مغنیان. مزمور داود ای خداوند، مرا از مرد شریر رهایی ده و از مرد ظالم مرا محفوظ فرما!

2 Who devise evil things in their heart; every day do they stir up wars.

۲ که در دلهای خود در شرارت تفکر می‌کنند وتمامی روز برای جنگ جمع می‌شوند.

3 They have sharpened their tongue like a serpent; vipers' venom is under their lips. (Selah)

۳ دندانهای خود را مثل مار تیز می‌کنند و زهرافعی زیر لب ایشان است، سلاه.

4 Keep me, O LORD, from the hands of the wicked; preserve me from the violent man; who have purposed to make my steps slip.

۴ ‌ای خداوند مرااز دست شریر نگاه دار، از مرد ظالم مرا محافظت فرما که تدبیر می‌کنند تا پایهای مرا بلغزانند.

5 The proud have hid a snare for me, and cords; they have spread a net by the wayside; they have set gins for me. (Selah)

۵ متکبران برای من تله و ریسمانها پنهان کرده ودام به‌سر راه گسترده، و کمندها برای من نهاده‌اند، سلاه.

6 I have said unto the LORD: 'Thou art my God'; give ear, O LORD, unto the voice of my supplications.

۶ به خداوند گفتم: «تو خدای من هستی. ای خداوند آواز تضرع مرا بشنو!»

7 O GOD the Lord, the strength of my salvation, who hast screened my head in the day of battle,

۷ ‌ای یهوه خداوندکه قوت نجات من هستی، تو سر مرا در روز جنگ پوشانیده‌ای.

8 Grant not, O LORD, the desires of the wicked; further not his evil device, so that they exalt themselves. (Selah)

۸ ‌ای خداوند، آرزوهای شریر رابرایش برمیاور و تدابیر ایشان را به انجام مرسان مبادا سرافراشته شوند، سلاه.

9 As for the head of those that compass me about, let the mischief of their own lips cover them.

۹ و اما سرهای آنانی که مرا احاطه می‌کنند، شرارت لبهای ایشان، آنها را خواهد پوشانید.

10 Let burning coals fall upon them; let them be cast into the fire, into deep pits, that they rise not up again.

۱۰ اخگرهای سوزنده را برایشان خواهند ریخت، ایشان را درآتش خواهند انداخت و در ژرفیها که دیگرنخواهند برخاست.

11 A slanderer shall not be established in the earth; the violent and evil man shall be hunted with thrust upon thrust.

۱۱ مرد بدگو در زمین پایدارنخواهد شد. مرد ظالم را شرارت صید خواهدکرد تا او را هلاک کند

12 I know that the LORD will maintain the cause of the poor, and the right of the needy.

۱۲ می‌دانم که خداونددادرسی فقیر را خواهد کرد و داوری مسکینان راخواهد نمود.

13 Surely the righteous shall give thanks unto Thy name; the upright shall dwell in Thy presence.

۱۳ هر آینه عادلان نام تو را حمدخواهند گفت و راستان به حضور تو ساکن خواهند شد.
