Psalms 139
1 For the Leader. A Psalm of David. O LORD, Thou hast searched me, and known me.
Dem Sangmeister. Ein Psalm Davids. / Jahwe, du hast mich durchforscht und erkannt:
2 Thou knowest my downsitting and mine uprising, Thou understandest my thought afar off.
Du weißt, wann ich sitze und wann ich aufstehe; / Mein Denken und Streben kennst du sogar, / Noch eh es mir klar geworden.
3 Thou measurest my going about and my lying down, and art acquainted with all my ways.
Du siehst, wann ich wandre und wann ich mich niederlege, / Mit all meinen Wegen bist du vertraut.
4 For there is not a word in my tongue, but, lo, O LORD, Thou knowest it altogether.
Denn es ist kein Wort auf meiner Zunge — / Sieh, o Jahwe, du weißt es ganz.
5 Thou hast hemmed me in behind and before, and laid Thy hand upon me.
Von allen Seiten hältst du mich umschlossen, / Du hast deine Hand auf mich gelegt.
6 Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; too high, I cannot attain unto it.
Dies Wissen ist mir zu wunderbar, / Zu hoch: ich kann mich ihm nicht entziehn.
7 Whither shall I go from Thy spirit? or whither shall I flee from Thy presence?
Wohin soll ich gehn vor deinem Geist, / Wohin vor deinem Antlitz fliehn?
8 If I ascend up into heaven, Thou art there; if I make my bed in the nether-world, behold, Thou art there. (Sheol h7585)
Wenn ich in den Himmel stiege — du wärest da; / Und wollt ich mir im Totenreich ein Lager bereiten — / Dort wärest du auch. (Sheol h7585)
9 If I take the wings of the morning, and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea;
Flög ich auf Flügeln der Morgenröte, / Wollt ich weilen am Ende des Meers:
10 Even there would Thy hand lead me, and Thy right hand would hold me.
Auch da würde deine Hand mich leiten / Und deine Rechte mich fassen.
11 And if I say: 'Surely the darkness shall envelop me, and the light about me shall be night';
Spräche ich: "Dunkel umhülle mich ganz, / Das Licht um mich her: es werde zur Nacht!" —
12 Even the darkness is not too dark for Thee, but the night shineth as the day; the darkness is even as the light.
Auch Dunkel ist dir nicht zu dunkel; / Die Nacht vielmehr — sie leuchtet sogar wie der Tag, / Das Dunkel ist ebenso wie das Licht.
13 For Thou hast made my reins; Thou hast knit me together in my mother's womb.
Denn du hast meine Nieren gebildet, / Du hast mich gewoben im Mutterleib.
14 I will give thanks unto Thee, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; wonderful are Thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well.
Ich danke dir, daß ich so erstaunlich wunderbar entstanden bin: / Wunderbar sind ja auch sonst deine Werke, / Und meine Seele erkennt es wohl.
15 My frame was not hidden from Thee, when I was made in secret, and curiously wrought in the lowest parts of the earth.
Nicht war dir mein Wesen unbekannt, / Als ich im Verborgnen bereitet ward, / Gewirkt in den Tiefen der Erde.
16 Thine eyes did see mine unformed substance, and in Thy book they were all written — even the days that were fashioned, when as yet there was none of them.
Schon meinen Fruchtkeim haben deine Augen gesehn; / Und auf dein Buch wurden alle geschrieben: / Die Tage, die mir bestimmt, / Eh noch einer von ihnen erschienen war.
17 How weighty also are Thy thoughts unto me, O God! How great is the sum of them!
Wie sind mir so köstlich, Gott, deine Gedanken, / Wie ist ihre Zahl so gewaltig!
18 If I would count them, they are more in number than the sand; were I to come to the end of them, I would still be with Thee.
Wollt ich sie zählen — sie wären mehr als Sand: / Ich bin erwacht und bin noch bei dir.
19 If Thou but wouldest slay the wicked, O God — depart from me therefore, ye men of blood;
Möchtest du doch, Eloah, die Frevler töten! / Und "ihr Blutmenschen, weicht von mir!"
20 Who utter Thy name with wicked thought, they take it for falsehood, even Thine enemies —
Sie reden in Arglist von dir, / Mißbrauchen zu Lug deinen Namen — sie, die Feinde!
21 Do not I hate them, O LORD, that hate Thee? And do not I strive with those that rise up against Thee?
Sollt ich nicht hassen, Jahwe, die dich hassen, / Nicht Abscheu empfinden vor denen, die dir widerstreben?
22 I hate them with utmost hatred; I count them mine enemies.
Ich hasse sie mit dem größten Haß: / Sie gelten mir als Feinde.
23 Search me, O God, and know my heart, try me, and know my thoughts;
Erforsche mich, Gott, und erkenne mein Herz, / Prüf mich, erkenne meine Gedanken!
24 And see if there be any way in me that is grievous, and lead me in the way everlasting.
Sieh, ob ich neige zu unheilvollem Wandel, / Und leite mich auf den Ewigkeitsweg!
