Psalms 138

1 A Psalm of David. I will give Thee thanks with my whole heart, in the presence of the mighty will I sing praises unto Thee.

Von David. / Ich will dir danken von ganzem Herzen, / Sogar vor "Göttern" will ich dir lobsingen.

2 I will bow down toward Thy holy temple, and give thanks unto Thy name for Thy mercy and for Thy truth; for Thou hast magnified Thy word above all Thy name.

Zu deinem heiligen Tempel hin will ich anbeten / Und deinen Namen preisen ob deiner Huld und Treu. / Denn deine Verheißung hast du verherrlicht / Über all deinen Namen hinaus.

3 In the day that I called, Thou didst answer me; Thou didst encourage me in my soul with strength.

Als ich rief, hast du mich erhört / Und mich mit Kraft und Mut erfüllt.

4 All the kings of the earth shall give Thee thanks, O LORD, for they have heard the words of Thy mouth.

Danken werden dir, Jahwe, alle Könige der Erde / Wenn sie deines Mundes Worte vernommen.

5 Yea, they shall sing of the ways of the LORD; for great is the glory of the LORD.

Sie werden Jahwes Walten besingen, / Denn groß ist Jahwes Herrlichkeit.

6 For though the LORD be high, yet regardeth He the lowly, and the haughty He knoweth from afar.

Ja, erhaben ist Jahwe; aber er sieht den Niedrigen an, / Und den Stolzen kennet er schon von fern.

7 Though I walk in the midst of trouble, Thou quickenest me; Thou stretchest forth Thy hand against the wrath of mine enemies, and Thy right hand doth save me.

Käm ich auch mitten in Drangsal hinein, / Du erhieltest mich trotz des Zorns meiner Feinde am Leben; / Du würdest deine Hand ausstrecken, / Und deine Rechte würde mich retten.

8 The LORD will accomplish that which concerneth me; Thy mercy, O LORD, endureth for ever; forsake not the work of Thine own hands.

Jahwe wird's mir zum Heil vollführen. / Jahwe, ewig währt deine Huld. / Deiner Hände Werk — o, laß es nicht unvollendet!
