Psalms 114

1 When Israel came forth out of Egypt, the house of Jacob from a people of strange language;

Halleluja! Toen Israël uit Egypte trok, Jakobs huis uit een volk van barbaren,

2 Judah became His sanctuary, Israel His dominion.

Werd Juda zijn heiligdom, En Israël zijn rijk.

3 The sea saw it, and fled; the Jordan turned backward.

De zee zag het, en sloeg op de vlucht, De Jordaan deinsde terug;

4 The mountains skipped like rams, the hills like young sheep.

Als rammen sprongen de bergen weg, Als lammeren de heuvels.

5 What aileth thee, O thou sea, that thou fleest? thou Jordan, that thou turnest backward?

Zee, wat was er, dat gij gingt vluchten, Jordaan, dat gij achteruit zijt geweken;

6 Ye mountains, that ye skip like rams; ye hills, like young sheep?

Bergen, dat gij wegsprongt als rammen, Gij heuvels als lammeren?

7 Tremble, thou earth, at the presence of the Lord, at the presence of the God of Jacob;

Voor den Heer kromp de aarde ineen, Voor het aangezicht van Jakobs God;

8 Who turned the rock into a pool of water, the flint into a fountain of waters.

Die de rots in een vijver herschiep, De klip in een borrelende bron!
