Psalms 106
1 Hallelujah. O give thanks unto the LORD; for He is good; for His mercy endureth for ever.
Lobet Jah! / Danket Jahwe, denn er ist gütig; / Ewig währet ja seine Huld.
2 Who can express the mighty acts of the LORD, or make all His praise to be heard?
Wer kann gebührend von Jahwes Taten reden / Und all seinen Ruhm erschöpfend verkünden?
3 Happy are they that keep justice, that do righteousness at all times.
Heil denen, die das Gesetz befolgen, / Die Gerechtigkeit üben zu jeder Zeit!
4 Remember me, O LORD, when Thou favourest Thy people; O think of me at Thy salvation;
Gedenke mein, o Jahwe! / Auch mir schenk die Huld, die dein Volk erfährt! / Auch mich sieh an, wenn du ihm hilfst!
5 That I may behold the prosperity of Thy chosen, that I may rejoice in the gladness of Thy nation, that I may glory with Thine inheritance.
Dann schau ich mit Lust deiner Erwählten Glück, / Dann teil ich die Freude deines Volks / Und darf mich rühmen mit deinem Erbe.
6 We have sinned with our fathers, we have done iniquitously, we have dealt wickedly.
Wir haben gesündigt gleich unsern Vätern, / Haben gottlos gehandelt, gefrevelt.
7 Our fathers in Egypt gave no heed unto Thy wonders; they remembered not the multitude of Thy mercies; but were rebellious at the sea, even at the Red Sea.
Unsre Väter in Ägypten achteten nicht deiner Wunder, / Gedachten nicht deiner Gnadenfülle, / Sondern waren widerspenstig am Meer, am Schilfmeer.
8 Nevertheless He saved them for His name's sake, that He might make His mighty power to be known.
Er aber rettete sie um seines Namens willen, / Um seine Macht zu beweisen.
9 And He rebuked the Red Sea, and it was dried up; and He led them through the depths, as through a wilderness.
Er schalt das Schilfmeer, da ward es trocken. / In den Fluten ließ er sie ziehn wie auf blachem Feld.
10 And He saved them from the hand of him that hated them, and redeemed them from the hand of the enemy.
So befreite er sie aus des Hassers Hand / Und erlöste sie aus des Feindes Gewalt.
11 And the waters covered their adversaries; there was not one of them left.
Die Wasser bedeckten ihre Bedränger: / Nicht einer von ihnen blieb übrig.
12 Then believed they His words; they sang His praise.
Da vertrauten sie auf seine Worte, / Sie sangen seinen Ruhm.
13 They soon forgot His works; they waited not for His counsel;
Doch schnell vergaßen sie seine Taten, / Warteten nicht, daß sein Rat sich erfülle.
14 But lusted exceedingly in the wilderness, and tried God in the desert.
Sondern lüstern wurden sie in der Wüste / Und versuchten Gott in der Öde.
15 And He gave them their request; but sent leanness into their soul.
Da erfüllte er wohl ihr Verlangen, / Aber dann sandte er ihnen Krankheit zu.
16 They were jealous also of Moses in the camp, and of Aaron the holy one of the LORD.
Sie waren auch neidisch auf Mose im Lager, / Auf Aaron, Jahwes Geweihten.
17 The earth opened and swallowed up Dathan, and covered the company of Abiram.
Da tat sich die Erde auf: sie verschlang Datan / Und bedeckte die Rotte Abirams.
18 And a fire was kindled in their company; the flame burned up the wicked.
Feuer ergriff ihre Rotte, / Die Flamme verzehrte die Frevler.
19 They made a calf in Horeb, and worshipped a molten image.
Sie machten ein Kalb am Horeb / Und beteten dann dies Gußbild an.
20 Thus they exchanged their glory for the likeness of an ox that eateth grass.
Ihres Gottes Herrlichkeit gaben sie hin / Für das Bild eines Stieres, der Gras frißt.
21 They forgot God their saviour, who had done great things in Egypt;
Sie hatten Gott, ihren Retter, vergessen, / Der Großes getan in Ägypten,
22 Wondrous works in the land of Ham, terrible things by the Red Sea.
Wunder im Lande Hams, / Erstaunliche Dinge am Schilfmeer.
23 Therefore He said that He would destroy them, had not Moses His chosen stood before Him in the breach, to turn back His wrath, lest He should destroy them.
Er wollte sie schon vertilgen: / Doch da trat Mose, sein Auserwählter, vor ihm in den Riß, / Um seine Zornglut abzuwenden, / Daß er sie nicht verderbe.
24 Moreover, they scorned the desirable land, they believed not His word;
Sie verschmähten das köstliche Land, / Sie trauten seiner Verheißung nicht,
25 And they murmured in their tents, they hearkened not unto the voice of the LORD.
Sondern murrten in ihren Zelten, / Gehorchten nicht Jahwes Stimme.
26 Therefore He swore concerning them, that He would overthrow them in the wilderness;
Da hub er auf seine Hand und schwur, / Sie niederzuschlagen in der Wüste,
27 And that He would cast out their seed among the nations, and scatter them in the lands.
Ihre Nachkommen unter die Völker zu werfen, / Sie zu zerstreuen in die Länder.
28 They joined themselves also unto Baal of Peor, and ate the sacrifices of the dead.
Sie hängten sich an den Baal Peôr / Und aßen Opfer für Tote.
29 Thus they provoked Him with their doings, and the plague broke in upon them.
So reizten sie ihn mit ihrem Tun. / Da riß unter ihnen ein Sterben ein.
30 Then stood up Phinehas, and wrought judgment, and so the plague was stayed.
Nun aber trat Pinehas auf und hielt Gericht: / Da ward der Plage Einhalt getan.
31 And that was counted unto him for righteousness, unto all generations for ever.
Das ward ihm gerechnet zur Gerechtigkeit / Für alle Geschlechter, für immer.
32 They angered Him also at the waters of Meribah, and it went ill with Moses because of them;
Sie erzürnten ihn weiter am Haderwasser, / Und übel ging's Mose um ihretwillen.
33 For they embittered his spirit, and he spoke rashly with his lips.
Denn sie hatten seinem Geist widerstrebt, / So daß ihm unbedachte Worte entfuhren.
34 They did not destroy the peoples, as the LORD commanded them;
Sie vertilgten auch nicht die Völker, / Wie ihnen Jahwe geboten hatte.
35 But mingled themselves with the nations, and learned their works;
Sondern sie ließen sich ein mit den Heiden / Und nahmen an ihrem Treiben teil:
36 And they served their idols, which became a snare unto them;
Sie dienten ihren Götzen, / Die wurden ihnen zum Fallstrick.
37 Yea, they sacrificed their sons and their daughters unto demons,
Sie opferten ihre Söhne / Und ihre Töchter den bösen Geistern.
38 And shed innocent blood, even the blood of their sons and of their daughters, whom they sacrificed unto the idols of Canaan; and the land was polluted with blood.
So vergossen sie schuldlos Blut, / Das Blut ihrer Söhne und Töchter, / Die sie opferten Kanaans Götzen, / Daß das Land durch Blutschuld entweiht ward.
39 Thus were they defiled with their works, and went astray in their doings.
So wurden sie unrein durch ihr Tun / Und fielen von Gott durch ihr Treiben ab.
40 Therefore was the wrath of the LORD kindled against His people, and He abhorred His inheritance.
Da entbrannte Jahwes Zorn wider sein Volk, / Er fühlte Abscheu gegen sein Erbe.
41 And He gave them into the hand of the nations; and they that hated them ruled over them.
Drum gab er sie in der Heiden Hand, / Daß ihre Hasser über sie herrschten.
42 Their enemies also oppressed them, and they were subdued under their hand.
Ihre Feinde bedrängten sie, / Sie mußten sich beugen ihrer Gewalt.
43 Many times did He deliver them; but they were rebellious in their counsel, and sank low through their iniquity.
Oftmals zwar befreite er sie, / Doch in Eigensinn lehnten sie sich auf: / Drum gingen sie unter in ihrer Schuld.
44 Nevertheless He looked upon their distress, when He heard their cry;
Er aber sah gnädig auf ihre Not, / Als er ihr lautes Schrein vernahm.
45 And He remembered for them His covenant, and repented according to the multitude of His mercies.
Da gedachte er ihnen an seinen Bund / Und hatte Mitleid in großer Huld.
46 He made them also to be pitied of all those that carried them captive.
Er ließ sie Erbarmen finden / Bei allen, die sie ins Elend geführt.
47 Save us, O LORD our God, and gather us from among the nations, that we may give thanks unto Thy holy name, that we may triumph in Thy praise.
Hilf uns, Jahwe, unser Gott, / Und sammle uns aus den Heiden! / Dann wollen wir danken deinem heiligen Namen, / Uns glücklich preisen, dich zu loben.
48 Blessed be the LORD, the God of Israel, from everlasting even to everlasting, and let all the people say: 'Amen.' Hallelujah.
Gepriesen sei Jahwe, Israels Gott, / Von Ewigkeit zu Ewigkeit! / Und alles Volk spreche: / "Ja wahrlich! Lobt Jah!"
