Psalms 105
1 O give thanks unto the LORD, call upon His name; make known His doings among the peoples.
Danket Jahwe, ruft seinen Namen an, / Macht seine großen Taten inmitten der Völker kund!
2 Sing unto Him, sing praises unto Him; speak ye of all His marvellous works.
Singt ihm, spielt ihm, / Redet von all seinen Wundern!
3 Glory ye in His holy name; let the heart of them rejoice that seek the LORD.
Rühmt euch seines heiligen Namens! / Es freue sich deren Herz, die Jahwe suchen.
4 Seek ye the LORD and His strength; seek His face continually.
Fraget nach Jahwe und seiner Macht, / Suchet sein Antlitz beständig!
5 Remember His marvellous works that He hath done, His wonders, and the judgments of His mouth;
Gedenkt seiner Wunder, die er getan, / Seiner Zeichen und der Urteile seines Munds,
6 O ye seed of Abraham His servant, ye children of Jacob, His chosen ones.
Ihr Nachkommen Abrahams, seines Knechts, / Ihr Söhne Jakobs, seine Erwählten!
7 He is the LORD our God; His judgments are in all the earth.
Er, Jahwe, ist unser Gott; / Er waltet gerecht über alle Lande.
8 He hath remembered His covenant for ever, the word which He commanded to a thousand generations;
Er gedenkt seines Bundes auf ewig, / Des Wortes, das er geboten für tausend Geschlechter,
9 The covenant which He made with Abraham, and His oath unto Isaac;
Des Bundes, den er geschlossen mit Abraham, / Seines Eides an Isaak.
10 And He established it unto Jacob for a statute, to Israel for an everlasting covenant;
Er hat ihn für Jakob verheißend bestätigt, / Für Israel als ewigen Bund.
11 Saying: 'Unto thee will I give the land of Canaan, the lot of your inheritance.'
Indem er sagte: "Dir will ich geben Kanaans Land / Als euer erblich Besitztum."
12 When they were but a few men in number. Yea, very few, and sojourners in it,
Damals waren sie klein an Zahl, / Ein Häuflein nur, und Gäste im Land.
13 And when they went about from nation to nation, from one kingdom to another people,
So wanderten sie von Volk zu Volk, / Von einem Reiche zum andern Volk.
14 He suffered no man to do them wrong, yea, for their sake He reproved kings:
Er ließ sie dabei von niemand bedrücken, / Ja, Könige strafte er ihretwegen:
15 'Touch not Mine anointed ones, and do My prophets no harm.'
"Tastet meine Gesalbten nicht an, / Und meinen Propheten tut kein Leid!"
16 And He called a famine upon the land; He broke the whole staff of bread.
Dann rief er Hungersnot gegen das Land, / Nahm jegliche Nahrung hinweg.
17 He sent a man before them; Joseph was sold for a servant;
Er sandte vor ihnen her einen Mann: / Josef ward als Sklave verkauft.
18 His feet they hurt with fetters, his person was laid in iron;
Seine Füße wurden gefesselt, / In Eisen legte man ihn,
19 Until the time that his word came to pass, the word of the LORD tested him.
Bis sich sein Wort erfüllte, / Jahwes Spruch ihn geläutert hatte.
20 The king sent and loosed him; even the ruler of the peoples, and set him free.
Da sandte der König und ließ ihn los, / Der Völkerbeherrscher gab ihn frei.
21 He made him lord of his house, and ruler of all his possessions;
Er setzte ihn seinem Hause zum Herrn, / Zum Gebieter über all seinen Besitz;
22 To bind his princes at his pleasure, and teach his elders wisdom.
Er sollte seine Fürsten an sich fesseln, / Seine Ältesten sollte er Weisheit lehren.
23 Israel also came into Egypt; and Jacob sojourned in the land of Ham.
Dann kam Israel nach Ägypten, / Und Jakob ward Gast im Lande Hams.
24 And He increased His people greatly, and made them too mighty for their adversaries.
Gott ließ sein Volk sehr zahlreich werden / Und machte es stärker als seine Bedränger.
25 He turned their heart to hate His people, to deal craftily with His servants.
Es wandelte sich nämlich ihr Herz, sein Volk zu hassen, / Arglist zu üben an seinen Knechten.
26 He sent Moses His servant, and Aaron whom He had chosen.
Da sandte Gott Mose, seinen Knecht, / Und Aaron, den er sich erkoren.
27 They wrought among them His manifold signs, and wonders in the land of Ham.
Die taten Zeichen bei ihnen durch seine Macht / Und Wunderdinge im Lande Hams.
28 He sent darkness, and it was dark; and they rebelled not against His word.
Er sandte Finsternis — es ward dunkel; / Denn widerstrebten sie nicht seinen Worten?
29 He turned their waters into blood, and slew their fish.
Er verwandelte ihre Gewässer in Blut / Und ließ dadurch ihre Fische sterben.
30 Their land swarmed with frogs, in the chambers of their kings.
Es wimmelte auch ihr Land von Fröschen: / Die drangen sogar in der Könige Kammern.
31 He spoke, and there came swarms of flies, and gnats in all their borders.
Er sprach, da kamen Bremsen, / Stechmücken in all ihr Gebiet.
32 He gave them hail for rain, and flaming fire in their land.
Er gab ihnen Hagel als Regen, / Ließ Feuer lohen in ihrem Land.
33 He smote their vines also and their fig-trees; and broke the trees of their borders.
Er schlug ihren Weinstock und Feigenbaum, / Zerbrach alle Bäume ihres Gebiets.
34 He spoke, and the locust came, and the canker-worm without number,
Er sprach, da kamen Heuschrecken / Und Hüpfer ohne Zahl.
35 And did eat up every herb in their land, and did eat up the fruit of their ground.
Die fraßen alles Kraut in ihrem Land, / Sie verzehrten die Frucht ihrer Felder.
36 He smote also all the first-born in their land, the first-fruits of all their strength.
Alle Erstgeburt schlug er in ihrem Land, / Die Erstlinge all ihrer Manneskraft.
37 And He brought them forth with silver and gold; and there was none that stumbled among His tribes.
Da ließ er sein Volk mit Silber und Gold ausziehn, / Und es strauchelte keiner in seinen Stämmen.
38 Egypt was glad when they departed; for the fear of them had fallen upon them.
Die Ägypter freuten sich ihres Auszugs, / Denn Graun vor ihnen war auf sie gefallen.
39 He spread a cloud for a screen; and fire to give light in the night.
Er spannte Gewölk als Decke aus, / Und Feuer gab ihnen zur Nachtzeit Licht.
40 They asked, and He brought quails, and gave them in plenty the bread of heaven.
Er bat: da ließ Gott Wachteln kommen / Und sättigte sie mit Himmelsbrot.
41 He opened the rock, and waters gushed out; they ran, a river in the dry places.
Einen Fels tat er auf: da floß Wasser heraus; / Es rann wie ein Strom durch die Steppe.
42 For He remembered His holy word unto Abraham His servant;
Denn er dachte seines heiligen Worts / Und Abrahams, seines Knechts.
43 And He brought forth His people with joy, His chosen ones with singing.
Drum ließ er sein Volk mit Freuden ausziehn, / Seine Auserwählten mit Jubel.
44 And He gave them the lands of the nations, and they took the labour of the peoples in possession;
Er gab ihnen Länder der Heiden; / Was Völker erworben, das erbten sie.
45 That they might keep His statutes, and observe His laws. Hallelujah.
Denn sie sollten seine Gesetze befolgen / Und seinen Lehren gehorsam sein. / Lobt Jah!
