Proverbs 9
1 Wisdom hath builded her house, she hath hewn out her seven pillars;
Η σοφία ωκοδόμησε τον οίκον αυτής, ελατόμησε τους στύλους αυτής επτά·
2 She hath prepared her meat, she hath mingled her wine; she hath also furnished her table.
έσφαξε τη σφάγια αυτής, εκέρασε τον οίνον αυτής, και ητοίμασε την τράπεζαν αυτής·
3 She hath sent forth her maidens, she calleth, upon the highest places of the city:
απέστειλε τας θεραπαίνας αυτής, κηρύττει επί των υψηλών τόπων της πόλεως,
4 'Whoso is thoughtless, let him turn in hither'; as for him that lacketh understanding, she saith to him:
Όστις είναι άφρων, ας στραφή εδώ· και, προς τους ενδεείς φρενών, λέγει προς αυτούς,
5 'Come, eat of my bread, and drink of the wine which I have mingled.
Έλθετε, φάγετε από του άρτου μου, και πίετε από του οίνου τον οποίον εκέρασα·
6 Forsake all thoughtlessness, and live; and walk in the way of understanding.
αφήσατε την αφροσύνην και ζήσατε· και κατευθύνθητε εν τη οδώ της συνέσεως.
7 He that correcteth a scorner getteth to himself shame, and he that reproveth a wicked man, it becometh unto him a blot.
Ο νουθετών χλευαστήν λαμβάνει εις εαυτόν ατιμίαν· και ο ελέγχων τον ασεβή λαμβάνει εις εαυτόν μώμον.
8 Reprove not a scorner, lest he hate thee; reprove a wise man, and he will love thee.
Μη έλεγχε χλευαστήν, διά να μη σε μισήση· έλεγχε σοφόν, και θέλει σε αγαπήσει.
9 Give to a wise man, and he will be yet wiser; teach a righteous man, and he will increase in learning.
Δίδε αφορμήν εις τον σοφόν και θέλει γείνει σοφώτερος· δίδασκε τον δίκαιον και θέλει αυξηθή εις μάθησιν.
10 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom, and the knowledge of the All-holy is understanding.
Αρχή σοφίας φόβος Κυρίου· και επίγνωσις αγίων φρόνησις.
11 For by me thy days shall be multiplied, and the years of thy life shall be increased.
Διότι δι' εμού αι ημέραι σου θέλουσι πολλαπλασιασθή, και έτη ζωής θέλουσι προστεθή εις σε.
12 If thou art wise, thou art wise for thyself; and if thou scornest, thou alone shalt bear it.'
Εάν γείνης σοφός, θέλεις είσθαι σοφός διά σεαυτόν· και εάν γείνης χλευαστής, συ μόνος θέλεις πάσχει.
13 The woman Folly is riotous; she is thoughtless, and knoweth nothing.
Γυνή άφρων, θρασεία, ανόητος και μη γνωρίζουσα μηδέν·
14 And she sitteth at the door of her house, on a seat in the high places of the city,
κάθηται εν τη θύρα της οικίας αυτής επί θρόνου, εν τοις υψηλοίς τόποις της πόλεως,
15 To call to them that pass by, who go right on their ways:
προσκαλούσα τους διαβάτας τους κατευθυνομένους εις την οδόν αυτών·
16 'Whoso is thoughtless, let him turn in hither'; and as for him that lacketh understanding, she saith to him:
όστις είναι άφρων, ας στραφή εδώ· και προς τον ενδεή φρενών, λέγει προς αυτόν,
17 'Stolen waters are sweet, and bread eaten in secret is pleasant.'
Τα κλοπιμαία ύδατα είναι γλυκέα, και ο κρύφιος άρτος είναι ηδύς.
