Proverbs 6
1 My son, if thou art become surety for thy neighbour, if thou hast struck thy hands for a stranger —
Min son, varder du lofvetsman för din nästa, så hafver du häktat dina hand intill en främmanda;
2 Thou art snared by the words of thy mouth, thou art caught by the words of thy mouth —
Du äst invefvad med dins muns tal, och gripen uti dins muns ord.
3 Do this now, my son, and deliver thyself, seeing thou art come into the hand of thy neighbour; go, humble thyself, and urge thy neighbour.
Så gör dock, min son, alltså, och undsätt dig; ty du äst kommen dinom nästa i händer; löp, skynda dig, och drif din nästa.
4 Give not sleep to thine eyes, nor slumber to thine eyelids.
Låt icke din ögon sofva, eller din ögnahvarf sömnig vara.
5 Deliver thyself as a gazelle from the hand of the hunter, and as a bird from the hand of the fowler.
Uthjelp dig, såsom en rå utu handene, och såsom en fogel utu foglafängarens hand.
6 Go to the ant, thou sluggard; consider her ways, and be wise;
Gack bort till myrona, du later; se uppå hennes seder, och lär.
7 Which having no chief, overseer, or ruler,
Ändock hon ingen Första eller höfvitsman, eller herra hafver,
8 Provideth her bread in the summer, and gatherest her food in the harvest.
Tillreder hon dock likväl sitt bröd om sommaren, och samkar sin mat i andene.
9 How long wilt thou sleep, O sluggard? When wilt thou arise out of thy sleep?
Huru länge ligger du, later? När vill du uppstå af dinom sömn?
10 'Yet a little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to sleep' —
Ja, sof ännu litet, tag der ännu en sömn före; lägg ännu litet händerna tillhopa, att du må sofva;
11 So shall thy poverty come as a runner, and thy want as an armed man.
Så skall fattigdomen med hast komma öfver dig, såsom en vandrare, och armod såsom en väpnad man.
12 A base person, a man of iniquity, is he that walketh with a froward mouth;
En bedrägelig menniska, en skadelig man går med vrångom mun;
13 That winketh with his eyes, that scrapeth with his feet, that pointeth with his fingers;
Vinkar med ögonen, tecknar med foten, viser med fingren;
14 Frowardness is in his heart, he deviseth evil continually; he soweth discord.
Tänker alltid något ondt och argt i sitt hjerta, och kommer trätor åstad.
15 Therefore shall his calamity come suddenly; on a sudden shall he be broken, and that without remedy.
Derföre skall honom hans ofärd hasteliga komma; och skall med snarhet sönderbråkad varda, så att der ingen hjelp vara skall.
16 There are six things which the LORD hateth, yea, seven which are an abomination unto Him:
Si, sex stycke hatar Herren, och vid det sjunde hafver han en styggelse:
17 Haughty eyes, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood;
Högfärdig ögon, falsk tungo, händer som utgjuta oskyldigt blod;
18 A heart that deviseth wicked thoughts, feet that are swift in running to evil;
Hjerta som med arga list umgår, fötter som snare äro till att göra skada;
19 A false witness that breatheth out lies, and he that soweth discord among brethren.
Ett falskt vittne som icke skämmes att tala lögn, och den der träto emellan bröder åstadkommer.
20 My son, keep the commandment of thy father, and forsake not the teaching of thy mother;
Min son, bevara dins faders bud, och låt icke fara dine moders lag.
21 Bind them continually upon thy heart, tie them about thy neck.
Bind dem tillhopa på ditt hjerta dageliga, och häng dem på din hals;
22 When thou walkest, it shall lead thee, when thou liest down, it shall watch over thee; and when thou awakest, it shall talk with thee.
När du går, att de leda dig; när du ligger, att de bevara dig; när du uppvaknar, att de äro ditt tal.
23 For the commandment is a lamp, and the teaching is light, and reproofs of instruction are the way of life;
Ty budet är en lykta, och lagen är ett ljus; och tuktans straff är lifsens väg;
24 To keep thee from the evil woman, from the smoothness of the alien tongue.
På det du må bevarad blifva för en ond qvinno; för enes främmandes släta tungo.
25 Lust not after her beauty in thy heart; neither let her captivate thee with her eyelids.
Låt hennes dägelighet icke göra dig lusta i ditt hjerta, och förtag dig icke på hennes ögnahvarf.
26 For on account of a harlot a man is brought to a loaf of bread, but the adulteress hunteth for the precious life.
Ty en sköka tager enom sitt bröd ifrå; men en gift qvinna fångar ädla lifvet.
27 Can a man take fire in his bosom, and his clothes not be burned?
Kan ock någor behålla eld i barmen, så att hans kläder icke brinna?
28 Or can one walk upon hot coals, and his feet not be scorched?
Huru skulle någor gå på glöd, så att hans fötter icke brände varda?
29 So he that goeth in to his neighbour's wife; whosoever toucheth her shall not go unpunished.
Alltså går det honom, som till sins nästas hustru går; der blifver ingen ostraffad, den vid henne kommer.
30 Men do not despise a thief, if he steal to satisfy his soul when he is hungry;
Det är enom tjuf icke så stor skam, om han stjäl till att mätta sina själ, då honom hungrar;
31 But if he be found, he must restore sevenfold, he must give all the substance of his house.
Och om han gripen varder, gifver han det sjufaldt igen, och lägger dertill alla ägodelarna i sitt hus.
32 He that committeth adultery with a woman lacketh understanding; he doeth it that would destroy his own soul.
Men den som med ene qvinno hor bedrifver, han är en dåre, och förer sitt lif uti förderf.
33 Wounds and dishonour shall he get, and his reproach shall not be wiped away.
Dertill skall plåga och skam komma uppå honom, och hans skam skall intet utskrapad varda.
34 For jealousy is the rage of a man, and he will not spare in the day of vengeance.
Ty mansens harm hafver nit, och skonar intet på hämndenes tid;
35 He will not regard any ransom; neither will he rest content, though thou givest many gifts.
Och ser icke till någon person, den försona måtte; och tager intet vid, om du än mycket skänka ville.
