< Proverbs 5 >
1 My son, attend unto my wisdom; incline thine ear to my understanding;
2 That thou mayest preserve discretion, and that thy lips may keep knowledge.
3 For the lips of a strange woman drop honey, and her mouth is smoother than oil;
Bouch madanm lòt moun ka dous kou siwo myèl, pawòl ka koule nan bouch yo tankou dlo.
4 But her end is bitter as wormwood, sharp as a two-edged sword.
Men, lè tout bagay fini, bouch li anmè kou fyèl, lang li file tankou kouto de bò.
5 Her feet go down to death; her steps take hold on the nether-world; (Sheol )
L'ap mennen ou kote mò yo ye a. Tou sa l'ap fè se pou touye ou. (Sheol )
6 Lest she should walk the even path of life, her ways wander, but she knoweth it not.
Li p'ap chache chemen lavi. L'ap pwonmennen toupatou, li pa konnen kote li prale.
7 Now therefore, O ye children, hearken unto me, and depart not from the words of my mouth.
Koulye a, pitit mwen yo, koute m' byen. Pa janm bliye sa m' pral di nou la a.
8 Remove thy way far from her, and come not nigh the door of her house;
Rete lwen yon fanm konsa. Pa janm pwoche bò pòt lakay li,
9 Lest thou give thy vigour unto others, and thy years unto the cruel;
pou fanm deyò pa fini avè ou, pou ou pa fè nèg ankòlè touye ou anvan lè ou!
10 Lest strangers be filled with thy strength, and thy labours be in the house of an alien;
Si se pa sa, se etranje ki va pran tout byen ou yo. Se lòt moun ki va jwi tou sa ou te travay fè.
11 And thou moan, when thine end cometh, when thy flesh and thy body are consumed,
12 And say: 'How have I hated instruction, and my heart despised reproof;
Lè sa a, w'a di: Poukisa mwen pa t' vle kite yo rale zòrèy mwen?
13 Neither have I hearkened to the voice of my teachers, nor inclined mine ear to them that instructed me!
Mwen pa t' vle koute moun ki t'ap moutre m' sa pou m' fè. Mwen pa t' louvri zòrèy mwen lè yo t'ap pale m'.
14 I was well nigh in all evil in the midst of the congregation and assembly.'
15 Drink waters out of thine own cistern, and running waters out of thine own well.
16 Let thy springs be dispersed abroad, and courses of water in the streets.
Pa fè pitit ak fanm deyò, pou san ou pa trennen nan lari.
17 Let them be only thine own, and not strangers' with thee.
18 Let thy fountain be blessed; and have joy of the wife of thy youth.
Fè kè ou kontan ak madanm ou. Pran plezi ou ak madanm ou renmen depi lè ou te jenn lan.
19 A lovely hind and a graceful doe, let her breasts satisfy thee at all times; with her love be thou ravished always.
20 Why then wilt thou, my son, be ravished with a strange woman, and embrace the bosom of an alien?
Pitit mwen, poukisa pou ou renmen yon lòt fanm? Poukisa pou ou kite madanm ou pou madanm lòt moun?
21 For the ways of man are before the eyes of the LORD, and He maketh even all his paths.
Seyè a wè tou sa w'ap fè. Kote ou pase, je l' sou ou.
22 His own iniquities shall ensnare the wicked, and he shall be holden with the cords of his sin.
Mechanste mechan yo se yon pèlen pou pwòp tèt yo. Sa yo pare pou lòt moun, se yo menm li rive.
23 He shall die for lack of instruction; and in the greatness of his folly he shall reel.
Y'ap mouri paske yo pa konn kontwole tèt yo. Y'ap peri paske yo fin pèdi tèt yo nèt.
