< Proverbs 5 >

1 My son, attend unto my wisdom; incline thine ear to my understanding;
Ka capa, poukpanueknae na tawn nahane hoi, na pahni ni panuenae a pâkuem thai nahanelah,
2 That thou mayest preserve discretion, and that thy lips may keep knowledge.
kaie lungangnae hah thai nateh, kaie thaipanueknae dawk na hnâpakeng haw.
3 For the lips of a strange woman drop honey, and her mouth is smoother than oil;
Bangkongtetpawiteh, napui kathoutnaw e pahni teh, khoitui patetlah a radip, a lawk teh sathaw hlak hai a pâhnan.
4 But her end is bitter as wormwood, sharp as a two-edged sword.
Hatei, apoutnae koe lateh, hmue patetlah a kha teh, avoivang kahran e sarai patetlah a hran.
5 Her feet go down to death; her steps take hold on the nether-world; (Sheol h7585)
A khok ni duenae lamthung a pâtam teh, a khok takan ni sheol hmai a pâtam. (Sheol h7585)
6 Lest she should walk the even path of life, her ways wander, but she knoweth it not.
Hoehpawiteh, a hringnae lamthung na pouk hoeh vaiteh, a lamthung a cak hoeh e hah na panuek mahoeh.
7 Now therefore, O ye children, hearken unto me, and depart not from the words of my mouth.
Hatdawkvah, ka canaw, atuvah, ka lawk thai awh haw. Ka dei e lawknaw hah pahnawt awh hanh.
8 Remove thy way far from her, and come not nigh the door of her house;
Hatei, ahlanae koe kampuen awh nateh, ahnie im takhang hoi hai hnai awh hanh.
9 Lest thou give thy vigour unto others, and thy years unto the cruel;
Hoehpawiteh, barinae na hmu e hah ayâ alouk koe kampuen payon vaih. Tami nuen kamathoutnaw rahak vah, na hringnae be na hno payon vaih.
10 Lest strangers be filled with thy strength, and thy labours be in the house of an alien;
Hoehpawiteh, ramlouknaw ni na tawntanae dawk nawm awh vaiteh, na thaw tawk e a pawnaw hah ramlouknaw im vah phat payon vaih.
11 And thou moan, when thine end cometh, when thy flesh and thy body are consumed,
Apoutnae koe lah, na takthai a kamsoe toteh, na khui payon vaih.
12 And say: 'How have I hated instruction, and my heart despised reproof;
Bangtelamaw, cangkhainae hah koe ka hmuhma teh, yuenae hah ka lungthin hoi koe ka dudam toe.
13 Neither have I hearkened to the voice of my teachers, nor inclined mine ear to them that instructed me!
Na kacangkhaikung e lawk hah koe ka tarawi ngaihoeh niteh, na cangkhainae hah koe ka thai ngaihoeh heh ma.
14 I was well nigh in all evil in the midst of the congregation and assembly.'
Tamimaya hoi kamkhuengnaw koe rawknae kâhmo hoeh e dueng doeh hei na ti han na kaima.
15 Drink waters out of thine own cistern, and running waters out of thine own well.
Nange tuikhu, na tuikhu hoi ka tâcawt e tui roeroe hah na nei han.
16 Let thy springs be dispersed abroad, and courses of water in the streets.
Na tuiphuek hah ram tangkuem lawng vaiteh tamimaya ceinae lamnaw dawk a lawng han na maw.
17 Let them be only thine own, and not strangers' with thee.
Nama hanelah dueng awm seh, ayâ alouke hoi kâkabawpkhai hane nahoeh.
18 Let thy fountain be blessed; and have joy of the wife of thy youth.
Na tuikhu teh yawhawi seh, na naw nah e na yu koe na lungkuep lawih.
19 A lovely hind and a graceful doe, let her breasts satisfy thee at all times; with her love be thou ravished always.
Ngai kaawm e sayuk hoi a meikahawi e sayukhre patetlah, a sannunaw ni na lungkuep sak naseh. A lungpatawnae ni na lungkuep sak naseh.
20 Why then wilt thou, my son, be ravished with a strange woman, and embrace the bosom of an alien?
Bangtelamaw, ka capa nang ni napui kahawihoehe hah na ngai vaiteh, khuet na tapam han vaw.
21 For the ways of man are before the eyes of the LORD, and He maketh even all his paths.
Bangkongtetpawiteh, tami hringnae lamthungnaw teh, BAWIPA ni koung a hmu teh, a lamthung pueng koung a pouk pouh.
22 His own iniquities shall ensnare the wicked, and he shall be holden with the cords of his sin.
Ama pouknae ni tamikayon teh a man vaiteh, a yonnae tangron hoi pâkhi lah ao han.
23 He shall die for lack of instruction; and in the greatness of his folly he shall reel.
Cangkhainae a vout dawkvah, a due vaiteh, puenghoi a pathu dawkvah, a kahma han.
