Proverbs 4
1 Hear, ye children, the instruction of a father, and attend to know understanding.
੧ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਪੁੱਤਰੋ, ਤੁਸੀਂ ਪਿਤਾ ਦਾ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ ਸੁਣੋ ਅਤੇ ਸਮਝ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰਨ ਉੱਤੇ ਮਨ ਲਾਓ,
2 For I give you good doctrine; forsake ye not my teaching.
੨ਕਿਉਂ ਜੋ ਮੈਂ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਚੰਗੀ ਸਿੱਖਿਆ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹਾਂ, ਤੁਸੀਂ ਮੇਰੀ ਸਿੱਖਿਆ ਨੂੰ ਨਾ ਛੱਡੋ।
3 For I was a son unto my father, tender and an only one in the sight of my mother.
੩ਜਦ ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਪਿਤਾ ਦਾ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਅਤੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਮਾਂ ਦਾ ਇਕੱਲਾ ਹੀ ਲਾਡਲਾ ਸੀ,
4 And he taught me, and said unto me: 'Let thy heart hold fast my words, keep my commandments, and live;
੪ਤਦ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਸਿਖਾਇਆ ਤੇ ਇਹ ਆਖਿਆ, ਤੇਰਾ ਮਨ ਮੇਰੀਆਂ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਫੜ੍ਹੀ ਰੱਖੇ, ਤੂੰ ਮੇਰੇ ਹੁਕਮਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਮੰਨ, ਤਾਂ ਤੂੰ ਜੀਵੇਂਗਾ।
5 Get wisdom, get understanding; forget not, neither decline from the words of my mouth;
੫ਬੁੱਧ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰ, ਸਮਝ ਨੂੰ ਵੀ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰ, ਮੇਰੇ ਬਚਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਨਾ ਭੁਲਾਈਂ ਅਤੇ ਨਾ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਮੁੜੀਂ।
6 Forsake her not, and she will preserve thee; love her, and she will keep thee.
੬ਉਹ ਨੂੰ ਨਾ ਛੱਡੀਂ ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਤੇਰੀ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਕਰੇਗੀ, ਉਹ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਪ੍ਰੀਤ ਲਾਵੀਂ ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਤੇਰੀ ਰਾਖੀ ਕਰੇਗੀ।
7 The beginning of wisdom is: Get wisdom; yea, with all thy getting get understanding.
੭ਬੁੱਧ ਦਾ ਮੁੱਢ ਇਹ ਹੈ ਭਈ ਬੁੱਧ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰ ਅਤੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਜਤਨ ਨਾਲ ਸਮਝ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰ।
8 Extol her, and she will exalt thee; she will bring thee to honour, when thou dost embrace her.
੮ਉਹ ਦੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਕਰ ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਵਧਾਵੇਗੀ, ਜੇ ਤੂੰ ਉਹ ਨੂੰ ਗਲ਼ ਲਾਵੇਂ ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਆਦਰ ਦੇਵੇਗੀ।
9 She will give to thy head a chaplet of grace; a crown of glory will she bestow on thee.'
੯ਉਹ ਤੇਰੇ ਸਿਰ ਉੱਤੇ ਸ਼ਿੰਗਾਰ ਦਾ ਸਿਹਰਾ ਬੰਨ੍ਹੇਗੀ, ਉਹ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਸੁਹੱਪਣ ਦਾ ਮੁਕਟ ਦੇਵੇਗੀ।
10 Hear, O my son, and receive my sayings; and the years of thy life shall be many.
੧੦ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਪੁੱਤਰ, ਸੁਣ ਅਤੇ ਮੇਰੀਆਂ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਮੰਨ, ਤਾਂ ਤੇਰੀ ਉਮਰ ਬਹੁਤ ਲੰਮੀ ਹੋਵੇਗੀ।
11 I have taught thee in the way of wisdom; I have led thee in paths of uprightness.
੧੧ਮੈਂ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਬੁੱਧ ਦਾ ਰਾਹ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਹੈ, ਮੈਂ ਸਿੱਧੇ ਮਾਰਗ ਉੱਤੇ ਤੇਰੀ ਅਗਵਾਈ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੈ।
12 When thou goest, thy step shall not be straitened; and if thou runnest, thou shalt not stumble.
੧੨ਜਦ ਤੂੰ ਤੁਰੇਂਗਾ ਤਾਂ ਤੇਰੇ ਰਾਹਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਕੋਈ ਰੁਕਾਵਟ ਨਾ ਹੋਵੇਗੀ ਅਤੇ ਜੇ ਤੂੰ ਭੱਜੇਂ ਤਾਂ ਵੀ ਤੂੰ ਠੇਡਾ ਨਾ ਖਾਵੇਂਗਾ।
13 Take fast hold of instruction, let her not go; keep her, for she is thy life.
੧੩ਸਿੱਖਿਆ ਨੂੰ ਫੜੀ ਰੱਖ, ਉਹ ਨੂੰ ਛੱਡੀਂ ਨਾ, ਉਹ ਨੂੰ ਸਾਂਭ ਕੇ ਰੱਖ, ਉਹੋ ਤੇਰਾ ਜੀਵਨ ਹੈ!
14 Enter not into the path of the wicked, and walk not in the way of evil men.
੧੪ਦੁਸ਼ਟਾਂ ਦੇ ਰਾਹ ਵਿੱਚ ਨਾ ਚੱਲ ਅਤੇ ਬੁਰਿਆਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਮਾਰਗ ਉੱਤੇ ਨਾ ਤੁਰ।
15 Avoid it, pass not by it; turn from it, and pass on.
੧੫ਉਸ ਤੋਂ ਦੂਰ ਰਹਿ, ਉਹ ਦੇ ਕੋਲੋਂ ਦੀ ਵੀ ਨਾ ਲੰਘੀਂ, ਉਸ ਤੋਂ ਮੂੰਹ ਮੋੜ ਕੇ ਅਗਾਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਲੰਘ ਜਾ,
16 For they sleep not, except they have done evil; and their sleep is taken away, unless they cause some to fall.
੧੬ਕਿਉਂ ਜੋ ਜਦੋਂ ਤੱਕ ਉਹ ਬੁਰਿਆਈ ਨਾ ਕਰ ਲੈਣ, ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਨੀਂਦ ਨਹੀਂ ਆਉਂਦੀ ਅਤੇ ਜਦ ਤੱਕ ਉਹ ਕਿਸੇ ਦੇ ਲਈ ਠੋਕਰ ਦਾ ਕਾਰਨ ਨਾ ਬਣਨ, ਉਹ ਉਣੀਂਦਰੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ।
17 For they eat the bread of wickedness, and drink the wine of violence.
੧੭ਉਹ ਬੁਰਿਆਈ ਦੀ ਰੋਟੀ ਖਾਂਦੇ ਅਤੇ ਜ਼ੁਲਮ ਦੀ ਮਧ ਪੀਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
18 But the path of the righteous is as the light of dawn, that shineth more and more unto the perfect day.
੧੮ਪਰ ਧਰਮੀਆਂ ਦਾ ਰਾਹ ਫ਼ਜ਼ਰ ਦੇ ਚਾਨਣ ਵਰਗਾ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸ ਦਾ ਚਾਨਣ ਦੁਪਹਿਰ ਤੱਕ ਵੱਧਦਾ ਹੀ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
19 The way of the wicked is as darkness; they know not at what they stumble.
੧੯ਦੁਸ਼ਟਾਂ ਦਾ ਰਾਹ ਘੁੱਪ ਹਨੇਰ ਵਰਗਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਜਾਣਦੇ ਵੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਕੀ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਕਿਸ ਤੋਂ ਠੋਕਰ ਲੱਗਦੀ ਹੈ।
20 My son, attend to my words; incline thine ear unto my sayings.
੨੦ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਪੁੱਤਰ, ਤੂੰ ਮੇਰੀਆਂ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਧਿਆਨ ਨਾਲ ਸੁਣ ਅਤੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਬਚਨਾਂ ਉੱਤੇ ਕੰਨ ਲਾ।
21 Let them not depart from thine eyes; keep them in the midst of thy heart.
੨੧ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੀਆਂ ਅੱਖੀਆਂ ਤੋਂ ਓਹਲੇ ਨਾ ਹੋਣ ਦੇ, ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸੰਭਾਲ ਕੇ ਰੱਖ।
22 For they are life unto those that find them, and health to all their flesh.
੨੨ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਉਹ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੁੰਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ, ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਲਈ ਜੀਵਨ ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਸਰੀਰ ਦੇ ਲਈ ਤੰਦਰੁਸਤੀ ਹਨ।
23 Above all that thou guardest keep thy heart; for out of it are the issues of life.
੨੩ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਦੀ ਵੱਡੀ ਚੌਕਸੀ ਕਰ, ਕਿਉਂ ਜੋ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੀਆਂ ਧਾਰਾਂ ਓਸੇ ਤੋਂ ਨਿੱਕਲਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ!
24 Put away from thee a froward mouth, and perverse lips put far from thee.
੨੪ਪੁੱਠੀਆਂ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਮੂੰਹ ਤੋਂ ਅਤੇ ਟੇਢੀ ਬੋਲੀ ਆਪਣੇ ਬੁੱਲ੍ਹਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਦੂਰ ਰੱਖ।
25 Let thine eyes look right on, and let thine eyelids look straight before thee.
੨੫ਤੇਰੀਆਂ ਅੱਖਾਂ ਸਾਹਮਣੇ ਵੱਲ ਹੀ ਵੇਖਦੀਆਂ ਰਹਿਣ ਅਤੇ ਤੇਰੀਆਂ ਪਲਕਾਂ ਅੱਗੇ ਨੂੰ ਲੱਗੀਆਂ ਰਹਿਣ।
26 Make plain the path of thy feet, and let all thy ways be established.
੨੬ਆਪਣੇ ਪੈਰਾਂ ਲਈ ਰਾਹ ਨੂੰ ਪੱਧਰਾ ਕਰ, ਤਾਂ ਤੇਰੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਮਾਰਗ ਕਾਇਮ ਹੋਣਗੇ।
27 Turn not to the right hand nor to the left; remove thy foot from evil.
੨੭ਨਾ ਸੱਜੇ ਨੂੰ ਮੁੜ ਅਤੇ ਨਾ ਖੱਬੇ ਨੂੰ, ਆਪਣੇ ਪੈਰ ਨੂੰ ਬੁਰਿਆਈ ਤੋਂ ਦੂਰ ਰੱਖ।
