Proverbs 31
1 The words of king Lemuel; the burden wherewith his mother corrected him.
Worte des Königs Lemuel; die Lehre, die seine Mutter ihm gab:
2 What, my son? and what, O son of my womb? and what, O son of my vows?
Was soll ich dir raten, mein Sohn, du Sohn meines Leibes, du Sohn meiner Gelübde?
3 Give not thy strength unto women, nor thy ways to that which destroyeth kings.
Opfere nicht den Weibern deine Kraft, noch deine Zeit denen, welche die Könige entnerven!
4 It is not for kings, O Lemuel, it is not for kings to drink wine: nor for princes to say: 'Where is strong drink?'
Es ziemt sich für Könige nicht, Lemuel, es ziemt sich für Könige nicht, Wein zu trinken, noch für Fürsten der Hang zu berauschendem Getränk!
5 Lest they drink, and forget that which is decreed, and pervert the justice due to any that is afflicted.
Sie könnten über dem Trinken das Gesetz vergessen und ein falsches Urteil fällen all dem unglücklichen Volk.
6 Give strong drink unto him that is ready to perish, and wine unto the bitter in soul;
Gebt starkes Getränk denen, die untergehen, und Wein den betrübten Seelen!
7 Let him drink, and forget his poverty, and remember his misery no more.
So können sie über dem Trinken ihre Armut vergessen und brauchen nicht mehr an ihr Leid zu denken.
8 Open thy mouth for the dumb, in the cause of all such as are appointed to destruction.
Tue deinen Mund auf für den Stummen, für das Recht aller Verlassenen!
9 Open thy mouth, judge righteously, and plead the cause of the poor and needy.
Tue deinen Mund auf, richte recht und verteidige den Elenden und Armen!
10 A woman of valour who can find? for her price is far above rubies.
Ein wackeres Weib (wer findet es?) ist weit mehr wert als köstliche Perlen!
11 The heart of her husband doth safely trust in her, and he hath no lack of gain.
Auf sie verläßt sich ihres Mannes Herz, und an Gewinn mangelt es ihm nicht.
12 She doeth him good and not evil all the days of her life.
Sie erweist ihm Gutes und nichts Böses ihr ganzes Leben lang.
13 She seeketh wool and flax, and worketh willingly with her hands.
Sie zieht Wolle und Flachs und verarbeitet es mit willigen Händen.
14 She is like the merchant-ships; she bringeth her food from afar.
Wie die Handelsschiffe bringt sie ihr Brot aus der Ferne herbei.
15 She riseth also while it is yet night, and giveth food to her household, and a portion to her maidens.
Bevor der Morgen graut, ist sie schon auf und gibt Speise heraus für ihr Haus und befiehlt ihren Mägden.
16 She considereth a field, and buyeth it; with the fruit of her hands she planteth a vineyard.
Sie trachtet nach einem Acker und erwirbt ihn auch; mit dem Ertrag ihrer Hände pflanzt sie einen Weinberg an.
17 She girdeth her loins with strength, and maketh strong her arms.
Sie gürtet ihre Lenden mit Kraft und stählt ihre Arme.
18 She perceiveth that her merchandise is good; her lamp goeth not out by night.
Sie sieht, daß ihre Arbeit gedeiht; ihr Licht geht auch des Nachts nicht aus.
19 She layeth her hands to the distaff, and her hands hold the spindle.
Sie greift nach dem Spinnrocken, und ihre Hände fassen die Spindel.
20 She stretcheth out her hand to the poor; yea, she reacheth forth her hands to the needy.
Sie tut ihre Hand dem Unglücklichen auf und reicht ihre Hände dem Armen.
21 She is not afraid of the snow for her household; for all her household are clothed with scarlet.
Vor dem Schnee ist ihr nicht bange für ihr Haus, denn ihr ganzes Haus ist in Scharlach gekleidet.
22 She maketh for herself coverlets; her clothing is fine linen and purple.
Sie macht sich selbst Decken; Linnen und Purpur ist ihr Gewand.
23 Her husband is known in the gates, when he sitteth among the elders of the land.
Ihr Mann ist wohlbekannt in den Toren, wenn er unter den Ältesten des Landes sitzt.
24 She maketh linen garments and selleth them; and delivereth girdles unto the merchant.
Sie macht Hemden und verkauft sie und liefert dem Händler Gürtel.
25 Strength and dignity are her clothing; and she laugheth at the time to come.
Kraft und Würde ist ihr Gewand, und sie lacht des künftigen Tages.
26 She openeth her mouth with wisdom; and the law of kindness is on her tongue.
Ihren Mund öffnet sie mit Weisheit, und freundliche Unterweisung ist auf ihrer Zunge.
27 She looketh well to the ways of her household, and eateth not the bread of idleness.
Sie behält ihre Haushaltung im Auge und ißt nie das Brot der Faulheit.
28 Her children rise up, and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praiseth her:
Ihre Söhne wachsen heran und preisen sie glücklich; ihr Mann rühmt sie ebenfalls:
29 'Many daughters have done valiantly, but thou excellest them all.'
«Viele Töchter sind wackere Frauen geworden; aber du übertriffst sie alle!»
30 Grace is deceitful, and beauty is vain; but a woman that feareth the LORD, she shall be praised.
Anmut besticht und Schönheit vergeht; ein Weib, das den HERRN fürchtet, soll man loben.
31 Give her of the fruit of her hands; and let her works praise her in the gates.
Gebt ihr von den Früchten ihres Wirkens, und ihre Werke werden sie loben in den Toren!
