Proverbs 28
1 The wicked flee when no man pursueth; but the righteous are secure as a young lion.
कसैले नलखेट्दा पनि दुष्ट मानिसहरू भाग्छन्, तर धर्मी मानिसहरू जवान सिंहझैँ निर्भीक हुन्छन् ।
2 For the transgression of a land many are the princes thereof; but by a man of understanding and knowledge established order shall long continue.
देशको अधर्मको कारण त्यहाँ धेरै शासकहरू हुन्छन्, तर समझशक्ति र ज्ञान भएको मानिसले अमनचैन कायम राख्ने छ ।
3 A poor man that oppresseth the weak is like a sweeping rain which leaveth no food.
एउटा गरिब मानिसमाथि थिचोमिचो गर्ने अर्को गरिब मानिस अन्न सखाप पार्ने मुसलधारे वर्षाजस्तो हो ।
4 They that forsake the law praise the wicked; but such as keep the law contend with them.
व्यवस्था त्याग्नेहरूले दुष्ट मानिसहरूको प्रशंसा गर्छन्, तर व्यवस्था पालन गर्नेहरू तिनीहरूको विरुद्धमा लड्छन् ।
5 Evil men understand not justice; but they that seek the LORD understand all things.
खराब मानिसले न्यायलाई बुझ्दैन, तर परमप्रभुको खोजी गर्नेहरूले हरेक कुरो बुझ्दछ ।
6 Better is the poor that walketh in his integrity, than he that is perverse in his ways, though he be rich.
आफ्ना मार्गहरूमा टेडो हुने धनी मानिसभन्दा आफ्नो निष्ठामा हिँड्ने गरिब मानिस उत्तम हुन्छ ।
7 A wise son observeth the teaching; but he that is a companion of gluttonous men shameth his father.
व्यवस्था पालन गर्ने छोरो समझदार हुन्छ, तर घिचावाको सङ्गत गर्नेले चाहिँ आफ्नो बुबालाई लज्जित तुल्याउँछ ।
8 He that augmenteth his substance by interest and increase, gathereth it for him that is gracious to the poor.
धेरै ब्याज लगाएर आफ्नो सम्पत्ति बढाउने मानिसको धनलाई अर्कैले कुम्ल्याउँछ र त्यसले गरिबहरूमाथि दया देखाउँछ ।
9 He that turneth away his ear from hearing the law, even his prayer is an abomination.
कसैले व्यवस्था सुन्नबाट आफ्नो कान तर्कायो भने त्यसको प्रार्थना पनि घृणित हुन्छ ।
10 Whoso causeth the upright to go astray in an evil way, he shall fall himself into his own pit; but the whole-hearted shall inherit good.
सोझाहरूलाई खराब मार्गमा लैजाने जो कोही पनि आफूले खनेको खाल्डोमा जाकिने छ, तर खोटरहित मानिसले असल पैतृक-सम्पत्ति पाउने छ ।
11 The rich man is wise in his own eyes; but the poor that hath understanding searcheth him through.
धनी मानिस आफ्नै दृष्टिमा बुद्धिमान् होला, तर समझशक्ति भएको गरिब मानिसले त्यसलाई पत्ता लगाउने छ ।
12 When the righteous exult, there is great glory; but when the wicked rise, men must be sought for.
धर्मीहरू विजय हुँदा ठुलो महिमा हुन्छ, तर दुष्टहरूको उदय हुँदा मानिसहरू लुक्न थाल्छन् ।
13 He that covereth his transgressions shall not prosper; but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall obtain mercy.
आफ्ना पापहरू लुकाउनेको उन्नति हुने छैन, तर तिनलाई स्वीकार गरी त्याग्नेलाई कृपा देखाइने छ ।
14 Happy is the man that feareth alway; but he that hardeneth his heart shall fall into evil.
सधैँ आदरसाथ जिउने आशिषित् हुने छ, तर आफ्नो हृदयलाई कठोर बनाउनेचाहिँ कष्टमा पर्ने छ ।
15 As a roaring lion, and a ravenous bear; so is a wicked ruler over a poor people.
गर्जने सिंह वा झम्टने भालुझैँ मानिसहरूमाथि शासन गर्ने दुष्ट शासक हुन्छ ।
16 The prince that lacketh understanding is also a great oppressor; but he that hateth covetousness shall prolong his days.
समझशक्ति कमी भएको शासक क्रुर हुन्छ, तर बेइमानीलाई घृणा गर्नेचाहिँको आयु लामो हुन्छ ।
17 A man that is laden with the blood of any person shall hasten his steps unto the pit; none will support him.
कसैको रगत बगाएकोले मानिस दोषी छ भने त्यसको मृत्यु नभएसम्म त्यो भगुवा हुने छ र कसैले त्यसलाई सहायता गर्ने छैन ।
18 Whoso walketh uprightly shall be saved; but he that is perverse in his ways shall fall at once.
निष्ठासहित हिँड्ने सुरक्षित हुने छ, तर टेडो चाल भएको मानिस अकस्मात् पतन हुने छ ।
19 He that tilleth his ground shall have plenty of bread; but he that followeth after vain things shall have poverty enough.
आफ्नो खेतबारी खनजोत गर्नेको प्रशस्त अन्न हुने छ, तर बेकम्मा कोसिसको पछि लाग्नेचाहिँ दरिद्रताले भरिने छ ।
20 A faithful man shall abound with blessings; but he that maketh haste to be rich shall not be unpunished.
विश्वासयोग्य मानिसले धेरै आशिष्हरू पाउने छ, तर झट्टै धनी हुनेचाहिँ दण्डविना उम्कने छैन ।
21 To have respect of persons is not good; for a man will transgress for a piece of bread.
पक्षपात गर्नु राम्रो होइन, तरै पनि एक टुक्रा रोटीको लागि मानिसले गलत काम गर्छ ।
22 He that hath an evil eye hasteneth after riches, and knoweth not that want shall come upon him.
कन्जुस मानिस धनको पछि लाग्छ, तर दरिद्रता त्यसमाथि आइपर्ने छ भनी त्यसलाई थाहै हुँदैन ।
23 He that rebuketh a man shall in the end find more favour than he that flattereth with the tongue.
फुर्क्याउने जिब्रो भएकोले भन्दा अनुशासनमा राख्नेले नै पछि बढी निगाह पाउँछ ।
24 Whoso robbeth his father or his mother, and saith: 'It is no transgression', the same is the companion of a destroyer.
आफ्ना बुबा र आमालाई लुटेर “त्यो पाप होइन” भनी बताउने मानिस बर्बादी ल्याउनेको मित्र हुन्छ ।
25 He that is of a greedy spirit stirreth up strife; but he that putteth his trust in the LORD shall be abundantly gratified.
लोभी मानिसले द्वन्द्व निम्त्याउँछ, तर परमप्रभुमा भरोसा गर्नेको उन्नति हुने छ ।
26 He that trusteth in his own heart is a fool; but whoso walketh wisely, he shall escape.
आफ्नै हृदयमा भरोसा गर्ने मानिस मूर्ख हो, तर बुद्धिमा चल्नेचाहिँ खतराबाट टाढै बस्छ ।
27 He that giveth unto the poor shall not lack; but he that hideth his eyes shall have many a curse.
गरिबलाई दिनेलाई कुनै कुराको अभाव हुँदैन, तर तिनीहरूप्रति आँखा चिम्लनेले धेरै श्राप पाउने छ ।
28 When the wicked rise, men hide themselves; but when they perish, the righteous increase.
दुष्टहरूको उदय हुँदा मानिसहरू लुक्छन्, तर तिनीहरू नष्ट हुँदा धर्मीहरूको वृद्धि हुन्छ ।
