Proverbs 27
1 Boast not thyself of to-morrow; for thou knowest not what a day may bring forth.
Rühme dich nicht des morgenden Tages; denn du weißt nicht, was heute sich begeben mag.
2 Let another man praise thee, and not thine own mouth; a stranger, and not thine own lips.
Laß dich einen andern loben, und nicht deinen Mund, einen Fremden, und nicht deine eigenen Lippen.
3 A stone is heavy, and the sand weighty; but a fool's vexation is heavier than they both.
Stein ist schwer und Sand ist Last; aber des Narren Zorn ist schwerer denn die beiden.
4 Wrath is cruel, and anger is overwhelming; but who is able to stand before jealousy?
Zorn ist ein wütig Ding, und Grimm ist ungestüm; aber wer kann vor dem Neid bestehen?
5 Better is open rebuke than love that is hidden.
Offene Strafe ist besser denn heimliche Liebe.
6 Faithful are the wounds of a friend; but the kisses of an enemy are importunate.
Die Schläge des Liebhabers meinen's recht gut; aber die Küsse des Hassers sind gar zu reichlich.
7 The full soul loatheth a honeycomb; but to the hungry soul every bitter thing is sweet.
Eine satte Seele zertritt wohl Honigseim; aber einer hungrigen Seele ist alles Bittere süß.
8 As a bird that wandereth from her nest, so is a man that wandereth from his place.
Wie ein Vogel, der aus seinem Nest weicht, also ist, wer von seiner Stätte weicht.
9 Ointment and perfume rejoice the heart; so doth the sweetness of a man's friend by hearty counsel.
Das Herz erfreut sich an Salbe und Räuchwerk; aber ein Freund ist lieblich um Rats willen der Seele.
10 Thine own friend, and thy father's friend, forsake not; neither go into thy brother's house in the day of thy calamity; better is a neighbour that is near than a brother far off.
Deinen Freund und deines Vaters Freund verlaß nicht, und gehe nicht ins Haus deines Bruders, wenn dir's übel geht; denn dein Nachbar in der Nähe ist besser als dein Bruder in der Ferne.
11 My son, be wise, and make my heart glad, that I may answer him that taunteth me.
Sei weise, mein Sohn, so freut sich mein Herz, so will ich antworten dem, der mich schmäht.
12 A prudent man seeth the evil, and hideth himself; but the thoughtless pass on, and are punished.
Ein Kluger sieht das Unglück und verbirgt sich; aber die Unverständigen gehen hindurch und leiden Schaden.
13 Take his garment that is surety for a stranger; and hold him in pledge that is surety for an alien woman.
Nimm dem sein Kleid, der für einen andern Bürge wird, und pfände ihn um der Fremden willen.
14 He that blesseth his friend with a loud voice, rising early in the morning, it shall be counted a curse to him.
Wenn einer seinen Nächsten des Morgens früh mit lauter Stimme segnet, das wird ihm für einen Fluch gerechnet.
15 A continual dropping in a very rainy day and a contentious woman are alike;
Ein zänkisches Weib und stetiges Triefen, wenn's sehr regnet, werden wohl miteinander verglichen.
16 He that would hide her hideth the wind, and the ointment of his right hand betrayeth itself.
Wer sie aufhält, der hält den Wind und will das Öl mit der Hand fassen.
17 Iron sharpeneth iron; so a man sharpeneth the countenance of his friend.
Ein Messer wetzt das andere und ein Mann den andern.
18 Whoso keepeth the fig-tree shall eat the fruit thereof; and he that waiteth on his master shall be honoured.
Wer seinen Feigenbaum bewahrt, der ißt Früchte davon; und wer seinen Herrn bewahrt, wird geehrt.
19 As in water face answereth to face, so the heart of man to man.
Wie das Spiegelbild im Wasser ist gegenüber dem Angesicht, also ist eines Menschen Herz gegenüber dem andern.
20 The nether-world and Destruction are never satiated; so the eyes of man are never satiated. (Sheol h7585)
Hölle und Abgrund werden nimmer voll, und der Menschen Augen sind auch unersättlich. (Sheol h7585)
21 The refining pot is for silver, and the furnace for gold, and a man is tried by his praise.
Ein Mann wird durch den Mund des, der ihn lobt, bewährt wie Silber im Tiegel und das Gold im Ofen.
22 Though thou shouldest bray a fool in a mortar with a pestle among groats, yet will not his foolishness depart from him.
Wenn du den Narren im Mörser zerstießest mit dem Stämpel wie Grütze, so ließe doch seine Narrheit nicht von ihm.
23 Be thou diligent to know the state of thy flocks, and look well to thy herds;
Auf deine Schafe habe acht und nimm dich deiner Herden an.
24 For riches are not for ever; and doth the crown endure unto all generations?
Denn Gut währt nicht ewiglich, und die Krone währt nicht für und für.
25 When the hay is mown, and the tender grass showeth itself, and the herbs of the mountains are gathered in;
Das Heu ist weggeführt, und wiederum ist Gras da und wird Kraut auf den Bergen gesammelt.
26 The lambs will be for thy clothing, and the goats the price for a field.
Die Lämmer kleiden dich und die Böcke geben dir das Geld, einen Acker zu kaufen.
27 And there will be goats' milk enough for thy food, for the food of thy household; and maintenance for thy maidens.
Du hast Ziegenmilch genug zu deiner Speise, zur Speise deines Hauses und zur Nahrung deiner Dirnen.
