Proverbs 20
1 Wine is a mocker, strong drink is riotous; and whosoever reeleth thereby is not wise.
೧ದ್ರಾಕ್ಷಾರಸವು ಪರಿಹಾಸ್ಯ, ಮದ್ಯವು ಕೂಗಾಟ, ಇವುಗಳಿಂದ ದಾರಿತಪ್ಪಿ ಹೋಗುವವನು ಜ್ಞಾನಿಯಲ್ಲ.
2 The terror of a king is as the roaring of a lion: he that provoketh him to anger forfeiteth his life.
೨ರಾಜನು ಗರ್ಜಿಸುವ ಸಿಂಹದಂತೆ ಭಯಂಕರನು, ಅವನನ್ನು ಕೆಣಕುವವನು ತನಗೇ ಕೆಡುಕುಮಾಡಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವನು.
3 It is an honour for a man to keep aloof from strife; but every fool will be snarling.
೩ವ್ಯಾಜ್ಯಕ್ಕೆ ದೂರವಿರುವವನು ಮಾನಕ್ಕೆ ಯೋಗ್ಯನು, ಜಗಳವು ಪ್ರತಿಯೊಬ್ಬ ಮೂರ್ಖನಿಗೂ ಸಹಜ.
4 The sluggard will not plow when winter setteth in; therefore he shall beg in harvest, and have nothing.
೪ಮೈಗಳ್ಳನು ಮಳೆಗಾಲದಲ್ಲಿ ಉಳುವುದಿಲ್ಲ, ಸುಗ್ಗೀಕಾಲದಲ್ಲಿ ಅಪೇಕ್ಷಿಸಲು ಏನು ಸಿಕ್ಕೀತು?
5 Counsel in the heart of man is like deep water; but a man of understanding will draw it out.
೫ಮನುಷ್ಯನ ಹೃದಯಸಂಕಲ್ಪವು ಆಳವಾದ ಬಾವಿಯ ನೀರು. ಆದರೆ ವಿವೇಕಿಯು ಅದನ್ನು ಸೇದಬಲ್ಲನು.
6 Most men will proclaim every one his own goodness; but a faithful man who can find?
೬ಸ್ನೇಹಿತರೆಂದು ಹೇಳಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವವರು ಬಹಳ ಜನರು, ನಂಬಿಗಸ್ತನಾದ ಸ್ನೇಹಿತನು ಎಲ್ಲಿ ಸಿಕ್ಕುವನು?
7 He that walketh in his integrity as a just man, happy are his children after him.
೭ಸದ್ಧರ್ಮಿಯು ನಿರ್ದೋಷವಾಗಿ ನಡೆಯುವನು, ಅವನು ಗತಿಸಿದ ಮೇಲೆಯೂ ಅವನ ಮಕ್ಕಳು ಭಾಗ್ಯವಂತರು.
8 A king that sitteth on the throne of judgment scattereth away all evil with his eyes.
೮ರಾಜನು ನ್ಯಾಯಾಸನಾರೂಢನಾಗಿ, ತನ್ನ ದೃಷ್ಟಿಯಿಂದ ಸಕಲ ಕೆಟ್ಟತನವನ್ನು ತೂರುವನು.
9 Who can say: 'I have made my heart clean, I am pure from my sin'?
೯“ನನ್ನ ಹೃದಯವನ್ನು ಶುದ್ಧಿಮಾಡಿಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದೇನೆ, ನನ್ನ ಪಾಪವನ್ನು ತೊಳೆದುಕೊಂಡು ನಿರ್ಮಲನಾಗಿದ್ದೇನೆ” ಎಂದು ಯಾರು ಹೇಳಬಲ್ಲರು?
10 Divers weights, and divers measures, both of them alike are an abomination to the LORD.
೧೦ತೂಕದ ಕಲ್ಲನ್ನೂ, ಅಳತೆಯ ಪಾತ್ರೆಯನ್ನೂ ಹೆಚ್ಚಿಸುವುದು, ತಗ್ಗಿಸುವುದು ಇವೆರಡೂ ಯೆಹೋವನಿಗೆ ಅಸಹ್ಯ.
11 Even a child is known by his doings, whether his work be pure, and whether it be right.
೧೧ಒಬ್ಬ ಹುಡುಗನಾದರೂ ಶುದ್ಧವೂ, ಸತ್ಯವೂ ಆದ ನಡತೆಯಿಂದಲೇ, ತನ್ನ ಗುಣವನ್ನು ತೋರ್ಪಡಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವನು.
12 The hearing ear, and the seeing eye, the LORD hath made even both of them.
೧೨ಕೇಳುವ ಕಿವಿ, ನೋಡುವ ಕಣ್ಣು, ಇವೆರಡನ್ನೂ ಯೆಹೋವನು ನಿರ್ಮಿಸಿದ್ದಾನೆ.
13 Love not sleep, lest thou come to poverty; open thine eyes, and thou shalt have bread in plenty.
೧೩ನಿದ್ರಾನಿರತನಾಗಿರಬೇಡ! ಬಡವನಾದೀಯೆ, ಕಣ್ಣು ತೆರೆ! ಆಹಾರದಿಂದ ತೃಪ್ತಿಗೊಳ್ಳುವಿ.
14 'It is bad, it is bad', saith the buyer; but when he is gone his way, then he boasteth.
೧೪ಕೊಳ್ಳುವವನು, “ಚೆನ್ನಾಗಿಲ್ಲ, ಚೆನ್ನಾಗಿಲ್ಲ” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳುತ್ತಾನೆ, ಕೊಂಡುಕೊಂಡು ಹೋಗಿ ಹೆಚ್ಚಳಪಡುತ್ತಾನೆ.
15 There is gold, and a multitude of rubies; but the lips of knowledge are a precious jewel.
೧೫ಹೊನ್ನು ಉಂಟು, ಹವಳದ ರಾಶಿ ಉಂಟು, ಆದರೆ ಜ್ಞಾನದ ತುಟಿಗಳೇ ಅಮೂಲ್ಯವಾದ ಆಭರಣ.
16 Take his garment that is surety for a stranger; and hold him in pledge that is surety for an alien woman.
೧೬ಮತ್ತೊಬ್ಬನಿಗೆ ಹೊಣೆಯಾದವನ ಬಟ್ಟೆಯನ್ನು ಕಿತ್ತುಕೋ, ಮತ್ತೊಬ್ಬಳಿಗೆ ಹೊಣೆಯಾದವನನ್ನೇ ಒತ್ತೆ ಮಾಡಿಕೋ.
17 Bread of falsehood is sweet to a man; but afterwards his mouth shall be filled with gravel.
೧೭ಮೋಸದಿಂದ ಸಿಕ್ಕಿದ ಆಹಾರವು ಮನುಷ್ಯನಿಗೆ ರುಚಿ, ಆ ಮೇಲೆ ಅವನ ಬಾಯಿ ಮರಳಿನಿಂದ ತುಂಬುವುದು.
18 Every purpose is established by counsel; and with good advice carry on war.
೧೮ಉದ್ದೇಶಗಳು ಮಂತ್ರಾಲೋಚನೆಯಿಂದ ನೆರವೇರುವವು, ಮಂತ್ರಾಲೋಚನೆಯಿಂದಲೇ ಯುದ್ಧವನ್ನು ನಡಿಸು.
19 He that goeth about as a talebearer revealeth secrets; therefore meddle not with him that openeth wide his lips.
೧೯ಚಾಡಿಕೋರನು ಗುಟ್ಟನ್ನು ರಟ್ಟು ಮಾಡುವನು, ಆದುದರಿಂದ ತುಟಿ ಬಿಗಿಹಿಡಿಯದವನ ಗೊಡವೆಗೆ ಹೋಗಬೇಡ.
20 Whoso curseth his father or his mother, his lamp shall be put out in the blackest darkness.
೨೦ತಂದೆಯನ್ನಾಗಲಿ ಅಥವಾ ತಾಯಿಯನ್ನಾಗಲಿ ಶಪಿಸುವವನ ದೀಪವು, ಮಧ್ಯರಾತ್ರಿಯ ಅಂಧಕಾರದಲ್ಲಿ ಆರಿಹೋಗುವುದು.
21 An estate may be gotten hastily at the beginning; but the end thereof shall not be blessed.
೨೧ಮೊದಲು ಬೇಗನೆ ಬಾಚಿಕೊಂಡ ಸ್ವತ್ತು, ಕೊನೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಕಳೆದು ಹೋಗುವುದು.
22 Say not thou: 'I will requite evil'; wait for the LORD, and He will save thee.
೨೨ಕೇಡಿಗೆ ಮುಯ್ಯಿತೀರಿಸುವೆನು ಅನ್ನಬೇಡ, ಯೆಹೋವನನ್ನು ನಿರೀಕ್ಷಿಸಿಕೊಂಡಿರು, ಆತನೇ ನಿನ್ನನ್ನು ಉದ್ಧರಿಸುವನು.
23 Divers weights are an abomination to the LORD; and a false balance is not good.
೨೩ತೂಕದ ಕಲ್ಲನ್ನು ಹೆಚ್ಚಿಸುವುದು, ತಗ್ಗಿಸುವುದು ಯೆಹೋವನಿಗೆ ಅಸಹ್ಯ, ಮೋಸದ ತಕ್ಕಡಿ ಒಳ್ಳೆಯದಲ್ಲ.
24 A man's goings are of the LORD; how then can man look to his way?
೨೪ಮನುಷ್ಯನಿಗೆ ಗತಿಯನ್ನು ಏರ್ಪಡಿಸುವವನು ಯೆಹೋವನೇ ಆಗಿರುವಲ್ಲಿ, ಮನುಷ್ಯನು ತನ್ನ ಮಾರ್ಗವನ್ನು ಹೇಗೆ ತಿಳಿದುಕೊಂಡಾನು?
25 It is a snare to a man rashly to say: 'Holy', and after vows to make inquiry.
೨೫“ಇದು ದೇವರಿಗಾಗಿ” ಎಂದು ದುಡುಕಿ ಹರಕೆಮಾಡುವುದು, ಹರಕೆಯನ್ನು ಹೊತ್ತಮೇಲೆ ವಿಚಾರಮಾಡುವುದು ಮನುಷ್ಯನಿಗೆ ಉರುಲು.
26 A wise king sifteth the wicked, and turneth the wheel over them.
೨೬ಜ್ಞಾನಿಯಾದ ಅರಸನು ದುಷ್ಟರ ಮೇಲೆ ಕಣದ ಗುಂಡನ್ನು ಉರುಳಿಸಿ, ಅವರನ್ನು ತೂರಿಬಿಡುವನು.
27 The spirit of man is the lamp of the LORD, searching all the inward parts.
೨೭ಮನುಷ್ಯನ ಆತ್ಮವು ಯೆಹೋವನ ದೀಪವಾಗಿದೆ, ಅದು ಅಂತರಂಗವನ್ನೆಲ್ಲಾ ಶೋಧಿಸುತ್ತದೆ.
28 Mercy and truth preserve the king; and his throne is upheld by mercy.
೨೮ರಾಜನ ಕೃಪಾಸತ್ಯತೆಗಳು ಅವನನ್ನು ಕಾಯುವವು, ಅವನ ಕರುಣೆಯೇ ಅವನ ಸಿಂಹಾಸನಕ್ಕೆ ಆಧಾರ.
29 The glory of young men is their strength; and the beauty of old men is the hoary head.
೨೯ಯುವಕರಿಗೆ ಬಲವು ಭೂಷಣ, ಮುದುಕರಿಗೆ ನರೆಯು ಒಡವೆ.
30 Sharp wounds cleanse away evil; so do stripes that reach the inward parts.
೩೦ಗಾಯಮಾಡುವ ಪೆಟ್ಟುಗಳು ಕೆಟ್ಟದ್ದನ್ನು ತೊಳೆದುಬಿಡುವುದು, ಏಟುಗಳು ಅಂತರಂಗವನ್ನು ಶುದ್ಧಿಮಾಡುವುದು.
