< Proverbs 18 >

1 He that separateth himself seeketh his own desire, and snarlest against all sound wisdom.
Hoehhamnah aka tlap loh hlang a paekboe sak tih, lungming cueihnah khaw boeih a thaih thil.
2 A fool hath no delight in understanding, but only that his heart may lay itself bare.
Lungcuei taengah hlang ang naep pawh, tedae amah kah lungbuei hliphen ham ni lat a om.
3 When the wicked cometh, there cometh also contempt, and with ignominy reproach.
Halang ha pawk vaengah nueihbu neh, yah neh kokhahnah la pai bal.
4 The words of a man's mouth are as deep waters; a flowing brook, a fountain of wisdom.
Hlang ka lamkah olka tah tui dung bangla, soklong ah aka phuet cueihnah thunsih la om.
5 It is not good to respect the person of the wicked, so as to turn aside the righteous in judgment.
Halang kah a hmai khueh khaw then pawh, laitloeknah aka dueng te aka phaelh ham rhung ni.
6 A fool's lips enter into contention, and his mouth calleth for strokes.
Hlang ang kah hmuilai tah tuituknah ham ha pawk uh tih, a bohnah te a ka loh a khue.
7 A fool's mouth is his ruin, and his lips are the snare of his soul.
Hlang ang kah a ka tah amah kah porhaknah neh a hmuilai te a hinglu ham hlaeh la om.
8 The words of a whisperer are as dainty morsels, and they go down into the innermost parts of the belly.
Thet ol he didii bangla om tih, a bung khui la tluektluek kun.
9 Even one that is slack in his work is brother to him that is a destroyer.
A bibi dongah aka uelh khaw kutpo boei kah a manuca la om.
10 The name of the LORD is a strong tower: the righteous runneth into it, and is set up on high.
BOEIPA ming tah sarhi ham rhaltoengim ni, hlang dueng tah a taengla yong tih a hoep a tlang.
11 The rich man's wealth is his strong city, and as a high wall in his own conceit.
Hlanglen kah a boeirhaeng tah amah ham sarhi aka tak khorha la om tih, a ngaihlih vaengah vongtung tluk a sang sak.
12 Before destruction the heart of a man is haughty, and before honour goeth humility.
Hlang he lungbuei aka sang taengah pocinah a lamhma pah tih, kodonah taengah thangpomnah a lamhma pah.
13 He that giveth answer before he heareth, it is folly and confusion unto him.
A hnatun hlan ah ol aka thuung tah anglat ni. Amah khaw te nen te mingthae a phueih.
14 The spirit of a man will sustain his infirmity; but a broken spirit who can bear?
Hlang he a tlohtat vaengah a mueihla loh a cangbam dae, mueihla a rhawp te u long a khoeng eh?
15 The heart of the prudent getteth knowledge; and the ear of the wise seeketh knowledge.
Aka yakming kah lungbuei loh mingnah a lai tih aka cueih kah a hna loh mingnah a tlap.
16 A man's gift maketh room for him, and bringeth him before great men.
Hlang kah kutdoe he amah ham long a khui sak pah tih, amah te tanglue kah mikhmuh ah a mawt.
17 He that pleadeth his cause first seemeth just; but his neighbour cometh and searcheth him out.
A hui te ha pawk la ha pawk hlan tih amah a khe hlan atah, amah kah tuituknah dongah lamhma la aka dueng khaw om.
18 The lot causeth strife to cease, and parteth asunder the contentious.
Hohmuhnah te hmolunh loh a paa sak tih, aka tlung rhoi khaw rhak a phih.
19 A brother offended is harder to be won than a strong city; and their contentions are like the bars of a castle.
Boekoek boeina tah sarhi aka tak khorha lakah olpungkacan la om tih, hohmuhnah khaw impuei thohkalh bangla om.
20 A man's belly shall be filled with the fruit of his mouth; with the increase of his lips shall he be satisfied.
Hlang tah a laithaih lamloh a bung hah tih, a hmuilai kah a vueithaih khaw kum.
21 Death and life are in the power of the tongue; and they that indulge it shall eat the fruit thereof.
Lai kut dongah dueknah neh hingnah om tih, amah aka lungnah long ni a thaih te a caak eh.
22 Whoso findeth a wife findeth a great good, and obtaineth favour of the LORD.
Yuu aka lo long tah hnothen a dang tih, BOEIPA taengkah kolonah a dang bal.
23 The poor useth entreaties; but the rich answereth impudently.
Khodaeng loh huithuinah neh a voek dae, hlanglen loh a tlung neh a doo.
24 There are friends that one hath to his own hurt; but there is a friend that sticketh closer than a brother.
Hlang he a hui rhoek loh thaehuet thil cakhaw, a manuca lakah a lungnah tih aka ben khaw om van.
