Proverbs 15
1 A soft answer turneth away wrath; but a grievous word stirreth up anger.
La réponse douce apaise la fureur; mais la parole fâcheuse excite la colère.
2 The tongue of the wise useth knowledge aright; but the mouth of fools poureth out foolishness.
La langue des sages embellit la science; mais la bouche des fous profère la folie.
3 The eyes of the LORD are in every place, keeping watch upon the evil and the good.
Les yeux de l'Eternel sont en tous lieux, contemplant les méchants et les bons.
4 A soothing tongue is a tree of life; but perverseness therein is a wound to the spirit.
La langue qui corrige [le prochain], est [comme] l'arbre de vie; mais celle où il y a de la perversité, est un rompement d'esprit.
5 A fool despiseth his father's correction; but he that regardeth reproof is prudent.
Le fou méprise l'instruction de son père; mais celui qui prend garde à la répréhension, deviendra bien-avisé.
6 In the house of the righteous is much treasure; but in the revenues of the wicked is trouble.
Il y a un grand trésor dans la maison du juste; mais il y a du trouble dans le revenu du méchant.
7 The lips of the wise disperse knowledge; but the heart of the foolish is not stedfast.
Les lèvres des sages répandent partout la science; mais le cœur des fous ne fait pas ainsi.
8 The sacrifice of the wicked is an abomination to the LORD; but the prayer of the upright is His delight.
Le sacrifice des méchants est en abomination à l'Eternel; mais la requête des hommes droits lui est agréable.
9 The way of the wicked is an abomination to the LORD; but He loveth him that followeth after righteousness.
La voie du méchant est en abomination à l'Eternel; mais il aime celui qui s'adonne soigneusement à la justice.
10 There is grievous correction for him that forsaketh the way; and he that hateth reproof shall die.
Le châtiment est fâcheux à celui qui quitte le [droit] chemin; [mais] celui qui hait d'être repris, mourra.
11 The nether-world and Destruction are before the LORD; how much more then the hearts of the children of men! (Sheol h7585)
Le sépulcre et le gouffre sont devant l'Eternel; combien plus les cœurs des enfants des hommes? (Sheol h7585)
12 A scorner loveth not to be reproved; he will not go unto the wise.
Le moqueur n'aime point qu'on le reprenne, et il n'ira [jamais] vers les sages.
13 A merry heart maketh a cheerful countenance; but by sorrow of heart the spirit is broken.
Le cœur joyeux rend la face belle, mais l'esprit est abattu par l'ennui du cœur.
14 The heart of him that hath discernment seeketh knowledge; but the mouth of fools feedeth on folly.
Le cœur de l'homme prudent cherche la science; mais la bouche des fous se repaît de folie.
15 All the days of the poor are evil; but he that is of a merry heart hath a continual feast.
Tous les jours de l'affligé sont mauvais; mais quand on a le cœur gai, c'est un banquet perpétuel.
16 Better is little with the fear of the LORD, than great treasure and turmoil therewith.
Un peu de bien vaut mieux avec la crainte de l'Eternel, qu'un grand trésor avec lequel il y a du trouble.
17 Better is a dinner of herbs where love is, than a stalled ox and hatred therewith.
Mieux vaut un repas d'herbes, où il y a de l'amitié, qu'un repas de bœuf bien gras, où il y a de la haine.
18 A wrathful man stirreth up discord; but he that is slow to anger appeaseth strife.
L'homme furieux excite la querelle; mais l'homme tardif à colère apaise la dispute.
19 The way of the sluggard is as though hedged by thorns; but the path of the upright is even.
La voie du paresseux est comme une haie de ronces; mais le chemin des hommes droits est relevé.
20 A wise son maketh a glad father; but a foolish man despiseth his mother.
L'enfant sage réjouit le père; mais l'homme insensé méprise sa mère.
21 Folly is joy to him that lacketh understanding; but a man of discernment walketh straightforwards.
La folie est la joie de celui qui est dépourvu de sens; mais l'homme prudent dresse ses pas pour marcher.
22 For want of counsel purposes are frustrated; but in the multitude of counsellors they are established.
Les résolutions deviennent inutiles où il n'y a point de conseil; mais il y a de la fermeté dans la multitude des conseillers.
23 A man hath joy in the answer of his mouth; and a word in due season, how good is it!
L'homme a de la joie dans les réponses de sa bouche; et la parole dite en son temps combien est-elle bonne?
24 The path of life goeth upward for the wise, that he may depart from the nether-world beneath. (Sheol h7585)
Le chemin de la vie tend en haut pour l'homme prudent, afin qu'il se retire du sépulcre qui est en bas. (Sheol h7585)
25 The LORD will pluck up the house of the proud; but He will establish the border of the widow.
L'Eternel démolit la maison des orgueilleux, mais il établit la borne de la veuve.
26 The thoughts of wickedness are an abomination to the LORD; but words of pleasantness are pure.
Les pensées du malin sont en abomination à l'Eternel; mais celles de ceux qui sont purs, sont des paroles agréables.
27 He that is greedy of gain troubleth his own house; but he that hateth gifts shall live.
Celui qui est entièrement adonné au gain déshonnête, trouble sa maison; mais celui qui hait les dons, vivra.
28 The heart of the righteous studieth to answer; but the mouth of the wicked poureth out evil things.
Le cœur du juste médite ce qu'il doit répondre; mais la bouche des méchants profère des choses mauvaises.
29 The LORD is far from the wicked; but He heareth the prayer of the righteous.
L'Eternel est loin des méchants; mais il exauce la requête des justes.
30 The light of the eyes rejoiceth the heart; and a good report maketh the bones fat.
La clarté des yeux réjouit le cœur; et la bonne renommée engraisse les os.
31 The ear that hearkeneth to the reproof of life abideth among the wise.
L'oreille qui écoute la répréhension de vie, logera parmi les sages.
32 He that refuseth correction despiseth his own soul; but he that hearkeneth to reproof getteth understanding.
Celui qui rejette l'instruction a en dédain son âme; mais celui qui écoute la répréhension, s'acquiert du sens.
33 The fear of the LORD is the instruction of wisdom; and before honour goeth humility.
La crainte de l'Eternel est une instruction de sagesse, et l'humilité va devant la gloire.
