Proverbs 14
1 Every wise woman buildeth her house; but the foolish plucketh it down with her hands.
La mujer sabia edifica su casa, La necia con sus manos la derriba.
2 He that walketh in his uprightness feareth the LORD; but he that is perverse in his ways despiseth Him.
El que anda en su rectitud teme a Yavé, Pero el de caminos torcidos lo desprecia.
3 In the mouth of the foolish is a rod of pride; but the lips of the wise shall preserve them.
En la boca del necio hay una vara para su espalda, Pero los sabios son protegidos por sus labios.
4 Where no oxen are, the crib is clean; but much increase is by the strength of the ox.
Donde no hay bueyes el establo está limpio, Pero mucho rendimiento hay por la fuerza del buey.
5 A faithful witness will not lie; but a false witness breatheth forth lies.
El testigo veraz no miente, Pero el testigo falso respira mentiras.
6 A scorner seeketh wisdom, and findeth it not; but knowledge is easy unto him that hath discernment.
El burlador busca la sabiduría y no la halla, Pero el conocimiento es fácil para el que tiene entendimiento.
7 Go from the presence of a foolish man, for thou wilt not perceive the lips of knowledge.
Apártate de la presencia del necio, Porque en él no hallarás palabras de conocimiento.
8 The wisdom of the prudent is to look well to his way; but the folly of fools is deceit.
Entender el camino es sabiduría del sagaz, Pero la necedad de los necios es engaño.
9 Amends pleadeth for fools; but among the upright there is good will.
Se burla el necio del pecado, Pero entre los rectos hay buena voluntad.
10 The heart knoweth its own bitterness; and with its joy no stranger can intermeddle.
El corazón conoce su propia amargura, Y en su alegría no participa el extraño.
11 The house of the wicked shall be overthrown; but the tent of the upright shall flourish.
La casa de los perversos será asolada, Pero la morada de los rectos florecerá.
12 There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.
Hay camino que al hombre parece derecho, Pero su fin es camino de muerte.
13 Even in laughter the heart acheth; and the end of mirth is heaviness.
Aun entre risas llora el corazón, Y el final de la alegría es tristeza.
14 The dissembler in heart shall have his fill from his own ways; and a good man shall be satisfied from himself.
El insensato se hartará de sus propios caminos, Pero el hombre bueno estará satisfecho con el suyo.
15 The thoughtless believeth every word; but the prudent man looketh well to his going.
El ingenuo cree cualquier cosa, Pero el prudente considera sus pasos.
16 A wise man feareth, and departeth from evil; but the fool behaveth overbearingly, and is confident.
El sabio teme y se aparta del mal, Pero el necio se lanza confiado.
17 He that is soon angry dealeth foolishly; and a man of wicked devices is hated.
El que fácilmente se aíra hará locuras, Y el hombre perverso será aborrecido.
18 The thoughtless come into possession of folly; but the prudent are crowned with knowledge.
Los ingenuos heredan insensatez, Pero el prudente se corona de conocimiento.
19 The evil bow before the good, and the wicked at the gates of the righteous.
Los perversos se inclinarán ante los buenos, Y los perversos ante las puertas del justo.
20 The poor is hated even of his own neighbour; but the rich hath many friends.
El pobre es odiado aun por su vecino, Pero muchos son los que aman al rico.
21 He that despiseth his neighbour sinneth; but he that is gracious unto the humble, happy is he.
El que menosprecia a su prójimo peca, Pero el que se compadece de los pobres es inmensamente feliz.
22 Shall they not go astray that devise evil? But mercy and truth shall be for them that devise good.
¿No yerran los que piensan mal? Pero misericordia y verdad son para los que piensan el bien.
23 In all labour there is profit; but the talk of the lips tendeth only to penury.
En toda labor hay fruto, Pero la palabra solo de labios lleva a la indigencia.
24 The crown of the wise is their riches; but the folly of fools remaineth folly.
Corona de los sabios es su riqueza, Pero la insensatez de los necios es locura.
25 A true witness delivereth souls; but he that breatheth forth lies is all deceit.
Un testigo veraz salva vidas, Pero el engañador habla mentiras.
26 In the fear of the LORD a man hath strong confidence; and his children shall have a place of refuge.
En el temor a Yavé hay fuerte confianza Que servirá de refugio a los hijos.
27 The fear of the LORD is a fountain of life, to depart from the snares of death.
El temor a Yavé es manantial de vida, Que aparta de las trampas de la muerte.
28 In the multitude of people is the king's glory; but in the want of people is the ruin of the prince.
En la multitud de pueblo está la gloria del rey, Y en la falta de pueblo la flaqueza del gobernante.
29 He that is slow to anger is of great understanding; but he that is hasty of spirit exalteth folly.
El que tarda en airarse tiene gran entendimiento, Pero el impulsivo exalta la necedad.
30 A tranquil heart is the life of the flesh; but envy is the rottenness of the bones.
Un corazón tranquilo es vida para el cuerpo, Pero la envidia es carcoma en los huesos.
31 He that oppresseth the poor blasphemeth his Maker; but he that is gracious unto the needy honoureth Him.
El que oprime al pobre afrenta a su Hacedor, Pero lo honra el que favorece al necesitado.
32 The wicked is thrust down in his misfortune; but the righteous, even when he is brought to death, hath hope.
Por su propia maldad será derribado el perverso, Pero el justo tiene refugio en su muerte.
33 In the heart of him that hath discernment wisdom resteth; but in the inward part of fools it maketh itself known.
En el corazón del que tiene entendimiento reposa la sabiduría, Aun en medio de necios se da a conocer.
34 Righteousness exalteth a nation; but sin is a reproach to any people.
La justicia enaltece a una nación, Pero el pecado es afrenta para los pueblos.
35 The king's favour is toward a servant that dealeth wisely; but his wrath striketh him that dealeth shamefully.
La benevolencia del rey es para el esclavo prudente, Pero su enojo contra el que lo avergüenza.
