Proverbs 12
1 Whoso loveth knowledge loveth correction; but he that is brutish hateth reproof.
El que ama el castigo ama la sabiduría; mas el que aborrece la reprensión, es carnal.
2 A good man shall obtain favour of the LORD; but a man of wicked devices will He condemn.
El bueno alcanzará favor del SEÑOR; mas él condenará al hombre de malos pensamientos.
3 A man shall not be established by wickedness; but the root of the righteous shall never be moved.
El hombre no se afirmará por medio de la impiedad; mas la raíz de los justos no será movida.
4 A virtuous woman is a crown to her husband; but she that doeth shamefully is as rottenness in his bones.
La mujer virtuosa es corona de su marido; mas la mala, como carcoma en sus huesos.
5 The thoughts of the righteous are right; but the counsels of the wicked are deceit.
Los pensamientos de los justos son rectitud; mas las astucias de los impíos, engaño.
6 The words of the wicked are to lie in wait for blood; but the mouth of the upright shall deliver them.
Las palabras de los impíos son para asechar la sangre; mas la boca de los rectos los librará.
7 The wicked are overthrown, and are not; but the house of the righteous shall stand.
Dios trastornará a los impíos, y no serán más; pero la casa de los justos permanecerá.
8 A man shall be commended according to his intelligence; but he that is of a distorted understanding shall be despised.
Según su sabiduría es alabado el hombre; mas el perverso de corazón será menospreciado.
9 Better is he that is lightly esteemed, and hath a servant, than he that playeth the man of rank, and lacketh bread.
Mejor es el que se menosprecie y se hace siervo, que el que se precia, y carece de pan.
10 A righteous man regardeth the life of his beast; but the tender mercies of the wicked are cruel.
El justo tiene misericordia aun a su bestia; mas las piedad de los impíos es crueldad.
11 He that tilleth his ground shall have plenty of bread; but he that followeth after vain things is void of understanding.
El que labra su tierra, se saciará de pan; mas el que sigue a los vagabundos es falto de entendimiento.
12 The wicked desireth the prey of evil men; but the root of the righteous yieldeth fruit.
Desea el impío la red de los malos; mas la raíz de los justos dará fruto.
13 In the transgression of the lips is a snare to the evil man; but the righteous cometh out of trouble.
El impío es enredado en la prevaricación de sus labios; mas el justo saldrá de la tribulación.
14 A man shall be satisfied with good by the fruit of his mouth, and the doings of a man's hands shall be rendered unto him.
El hombre será saciado de bien del fruto de su boca; y la paga de las manos del hombre le será dada.
15 The way of a fool is straight in his own eyes; but he that is wise hearkeneth unto counsel.
El camino del loco es derecho en su opinión; mas el que escucha al consejo es sabio.
16 A fool's vexation is presently known; but a prudent man concealeth shame.
El loco al momento da a conocer su ira; mas el que cubre la injuria es cuerdo.
17 He that breatheth forth truth uttereth righteousness; but a false witness deceit.
El que habla verdad, declara justicia; mas el testigo mentiroso, engaño.
18 There is that speaketh like the piercings of a sword; but the tongue of the wise is health.
Hay quienes hablan como dando estocadas de espada; mas la lengua de los sabios es medicina.
19 The lip of truth shall be established for ever; but a lying tongue is but for a moment.
El labio de la verdad permanecerá para siempre; mas la lengua de mentira por un momento.
20 Deceit is in the heart of them that devise evil; but to the counsellors of peace is joy.
Engaño hay en el corazón de los que piensan mal; mas alegría en el de los que piensan bien.
21 There shall no mischief befall the righteous; but the wicked are filled with evil.
Ninguna iniquidad alcanzará al justo; mas los impíos serán llenos de mal.
22 Lying lips are an abomination to the LORD; but they that deal truly are His delight.
Los labios mentirosos son abominación al SEÑOR; mas los obradores de la verdad su contentamiento.
23 A prudent man concealeth knowledge; but the heart of fools proclaimeth foolishness.
El hombre cuerdo encubre su sabiduría; mas el corazón de los locos publica la locura.
24 The hand of the diligent shall bear rule; but the slothful shall be under tribute.
La mano de los diligentes se enseñoreará; mas la negligencia será tributaria.
25 Care in the heart of a man boweth it down; but a good word maketh it glad.
El cuidado congojoso en el corazón del hombre, lo abate; mas la buena palabra lo alegra.
26 The righteous is guided by his friend; but the way of the wicked leadeth them astray.
El justo hace reflexionar a su prójimo; mas el camino de los impíos les hace errar.
27 The slothful man shall not hunt his prey; but the precious substance of men is to be diligent.
El engañoso ni aun asará su caza; mas el haber del hombre diligente es precioso.
28 In the way of righteousness is life, and in the pathway thereof there is no death.
En la vereda de la justicia está la vida; y el camino de su vereda no es muerte.
