Proverbs 12
1 Whoso loveth knowledge loveth correction; but he that is brutish hateth reproof.
Quien ama la corrección, ama la sabiduría; quien odia la corrección es un insensato.
2 A good man shall obtain favour of the LORD; but a man of wicked devices will He condemn.
El bueno gana el favor de Yahvé, el cual condena al hombre de mala intención.
3 A man shall not be established by wickedness; but the root of the righteous shall never be moved.
La malicia no es fundamento firme para el hombre, la raíz de los justos, en cambio, es inconmovible.
4 A virtuous woman is a crown to her husband; but she that doeth shamefully is as rottenness in his bones.
Como la mujer virtuosa es la corona de su marido así la desvergonzada es como carcoma de sus huesos.
5 The thoughts of the righteous are right; but the counsels of the wicked are deceit.
Los pensamientos de los justos son equidad, mas los consejos de los malvados son fraude.
6 The words of the wicked are to lie in wait for blood; but the mouth of the upright shall deliver them.
Las palabras de los impíos son emboscada a sangre ajena, la boca de los rectos los salva.
7 The wicked are overthrown, and are not; but the house of the righteous shall stand.
Se da un vuelco a los impíos y dejan de ser, en tanto que la casa de los justos sigue en pie.
8 A man shall be commended according to his intelligence; but he that is of a distorted understanding shall be despised.
El hombre es alabado según su sabiduría, mas el perverso de corazón es despreciado.
9 Better is he that is lightly esteemed, and hath a servant, than he that playeth the man of rank, and lacketh bread.
Más vale un hombre humilde que sabe ganarse la vida, que el ostentoso que tiene escasez de pan.
10 A righteous man regardeth the life of his beast; but the tender mercies of the wicked are cruel.
El justo mira por las necesidades de su ganado, mas las entrañas de los impíos son crueles.
11 He that tilleth his ground shall have plenty of bread; but he that followeth after vain things is void of understanding.
El que labra su tierra se saciará de pan; correr tras cosas vanas es necedad.
12 The wicked desireth the prey of evil men; but the root of the righteous yieldeth fruit.
El impío quiere vivir de la presa de los malos, la raíz del justo produce (lo necesario para la vida).
13 In the transgression of the lips is a snare to the evil man; but the righteous cometh out of trouble.
El pecado de los labios constituye un lazo peligroso, mas el justo se libra de la angustia.
14 A man shall be satisfied with good by the fruit of his mouth, and the doings of a man's hands shall be rendered unto him.
Del fruto de su boca se sacia uno de bienes, y según las obras de sus manos será su premio.
15 The way of a fool is straight in his own eyes; but he that is wise hearkeneth unto counsel.
Al necio su proceder le parece acertado, el sabio, empero, escucha consejos.
16 A fool's vexation is presently known; but a prudent man concealeth shame.
El necio al momento muestra su ira, el prudente disimula la afrenta.
17 He that breatheth forth truth uttereth righteousness; but a false witness deceit.
Quien profiere la verdad, propaga la justicia, pero el testigo mentiroso sirve al fraude.
18 There is that speaketh like the piercings of a sword; but the tongue of the wise is health.
Hay quien con la lengua hiere como con espada, mas la lengua del sabio es medicina.
19 The lip of truth shall be established for ever; but a lying tongue is but for a moment.
La palabra veraz es para siempre, la lengua mentirosa solo para un momento.
20 Deceit is in the heart of them that devise evil; but to the counsellors of peace is joy.
Lleno de fraude es el corazón del que maquina el mal, pero lleno de alegría el de los que aconsejan la paz.
21 There shall no mischief befall the righteous; but the wicked are filled with evil.
Sobre el justo no cae ningún mal, sobre los impíos, empero, una ola de adversidades.
22 Lying lips are an abomination to the LORD; but they that deal truly are His delight.
Abomina Yahvé los labios mentirosos, pero le son gratos quienes obran fielmente.
23 A prudent man concealeth knowledge; but the heart of fools proclaimeth foolishness.
El hombre prudente encubre su saber, mas el corazón de los necios pregona su necedad.
24 The hand of the diligent shall bear rule; but the slothful shall be under tribute.
La mano laboriosa será señora, la indolente, tributaria.
25 Care in the heart of a man boweth it down; but a good word maketh it glad.
Las congojas del corazón abaten al hombre, mas una palabra buena le alegra.
26 The righteous is guided by his friend; but the way of the wicked leadeth them astray.
El justo muestra a los otros el camino, el ejemplo de los malos, en cambio, los desvía.
27 The slothful man shall not hunt his prey; but the precious substance of men is to be diligent.
El holgazán no asa la caza, pero el laborioso, gana preciosa hacienda.
28 In the way of righteousness is life, and in the pathway thereof there is no death.
En la senda de la justicia está la vida; en el camino que ella traza no hay muerte.
