Proverbs 11
1 A false balance is an abomination to the LORD; but a perfect weight is His delight.
O balanță înșelătoare este urâciune pentru DOMNUL, dar o greutate întreagă este desfătarea lui.
2 When pride cometh, then cometh shame; but with the lowly is wisdom.
Când vine mândria, atunci vine rușinea; dar cu cei umili este înțelepciunea.
3 The integrity of the upright shall guide them; but the perverseness of the faithless shall destroy them.
Integritatea celor drepți îi va călăuzi, dar perversitatea călcătorilor [de lege] îi va nimici.
4 Riches profit not in the day of wrath; but righteousness delivereth from death.
Averea nu folosește în ziua furiei, dar dreptatea eliberează de la moarte.
5 The righteousness of the sincere shall make straight his way; but the wicked shall fall by his own wickedness.
Dreptatea celui desăvârșit îi va îndrepta calea, dar cel stricat va cădea prin propria lui stricăciune.
6 The righteousness of the upright shall deliver them; but the faithless shall be trapped in their own crafty device.
Dreptatea celor integri îi va elibera, dar călcătorii [de lege] vor fi prinși în răutatea lor.
7 When a wicked man dieth, his expectation shall perish, and the hope of strength perisheth.
Când un om stricat moare, așteptarea lui va pieri; și speranța celor nedrepți piere.
8 The righteous is delivered out of trouble, and the wicked cometh in his stead.
Cel drept este eliberat din tulburare, iar în locul lui vine cel stricat.
9 With his mouth the impious man destroyeth his neighbour; but through knowledge shall the righteous be delivered.
Un fățarnic nimicește pe aproapele său cu gura sa, dar prin cunoaștere cei drepți vor fi eliberați.
10 When it goeth well with the righteous, the city rejoiceth; and when the wicked perish, there is joy.
Când le merge bine celor drepți, cetatea se bucură, și când pier cei stricați, sunt strigăte.
11 By the blessing of the upright a city is exalted; but it is overthrown by the mouth of the wicked.
Prin binecuvântarea celor integri este înălțată cetatea, dar prin gura celor stricați este doborâtă.
12 He that despiseth his neighbour lacketh understanding; but a man of discernment holdeth his peace.
Cel lipsit de înțelepciune disprețuiește pe aproapele său, dar un om al înțelegerii tace.
13 He that goeth about as a talebearer revealeth secrets; but he that is of a faithful spirit concealeth a matter.
Un bârfitor dezvăluie taine, dar cel al unui duh credincios ascunde lucrul.
14 Where no wise direction is, a people falleth; but in the multitude of counsellors there is safety.
Unde nu este sfat, poporul cade; dar în mulțimea sfătuitorilor este siguranță.
15 He that is surety for a stranger shall smart for it; but he that hateth them that strike hands is secure.
Cel care este garant pentru un străin, va suferi rău pentru aceasta; și cel ce urăște a fi garanție este în siguranță.
16 A gracious woman obtaineth honour; and strong men obtain riches.
O femeie cu har păstrează onoarea, și cei puternici păstrează bogății.
17 The merciful man doeth good to his own soul; but he that is cruel troubleth his own flesh.
Omul milos face bine sufletului său, dar cel crud își tulbură propria sa carne.
18 The wicked earneth deceitful wages; but he that soweth righteousness hath a sure reward.
Cel stricat lucrează o lucrare înșelătoare, dar celui ce seamănă dreptate îi va veni o răsplată sigură.
19 Stedfast righteousness tendeth to life; but he that pursueth evil pursueth it to his own death.
Așa cum dreptatea tinde la viață, tot așa, cel ce urmărește răul îl urmărește pentru propria lui moarte.
20 They that are perverse in heart are an abomination to the LORD; but such as are upright in their way are His delight.
Cei ai unei inimi perverse sunt urâciune pentru DOMNUL, dar cei integri în căile lor sunt desfătarea lui.
21 My hand upon it! the evil man shall not be unpunished; but the seed of the righteous shall escape.
Deși sunt mână în mână, cei stricați nu vor fi nepedepsiți; dar sămânța celor drepți va fi eliberată.
22 As a ring of gold in a swine's snout, so is a fair woman that turneth aside from discretion.
Ca o bijuterie de aur în râtul unui porc, așa este o femeie frumoasă fără discernământ.
23 The desire of the righteous is only good; but the expectation of the wicked is wrath.
Dorința celor drepți nu este decât bună, dar așteptarea celor stricați este furie.
24 There is that scattereth, and yet increaseth; and there is that withholdeth more than is meet, but it tendeth only to want.
Este unul care împrăștie și totuși are mai mult; și este cel care păstrează mai mult decât este potrivit, dar tinde la sărăcie.
25 The beneficent soul shall be made rich, and he that satisfieth abundantly shall be satisfied also himself.
Sufletul darnic va fi îngrășat, și cel ce adapă va fi și el adăpat.
26 He that withholdeth corn, the people shall curse him; but blessing shall be upon the head of him that selleth it.
Pe cel ce oprește grânele, pe acela îl va blestema poporul; dar binecuvântare va fi peste capul celui ce le vinde.
27 He that diligently seeketh good seeketh favour; but he that searcheth for evil, it shall come unto him.
Cel ce caută stăruitor binele procură favoare, dar cel ce caută ticăloșie, aceasta va veni peste el.
28 He that trusteth in his riches shall fall; but the righteous shall flourish as foliage.
Cel ce se încrede în bogățiile lui va cădea, dar cel drept va înverzi ca o ramură.
29 He that troubleth his own house shall inherit the wind; and the foolish shall be servant to the wise of heart.
Cel ce își tulbură casa va moșteni vânt; și nebunul va fi servitor al celui înțelept în inimă.
30 The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life; and he that is wise winneth souls.
Rodul celui drept este un pom al vieții, și cel ce câștigă suflete este înțelept.
31 Behold, the righteous shall be requited in the earth; how much more the wicked and the sinner!
Iată, cel drept va fi recompensat pe pământ; cu atât mai mult cel stricat și cel păcătos.
