Numbers 20
1 And the children of Israel, even the whole congregation, came into the wilderness of Zin in the first month; and the people abode in Kadesh; and Miriam died there, and was buried there.
以色列子民全會眾於正月來到了親曠野，人民就在卡德士住下了。米黎盎在那裏死了，也就埋在那裏。
2 And there was no water for the congregation; and they assembled themselves together against Moses and against Aaron.
會眾沒有人水喝，就聚在一起反抗梅瑟和亞郎。
3 And the people strove with Moses, and spoke, saying: 'Would that we had perished when our brethren perished before the LORD!
民眾同梅瑟爭辯說：「巴不得我們的兄弟也上主面前死去時，我們也死了!
4 And why have ye brought the assembly of the LORD into this wilderness, to die there, we and our cattle?
為什麼你們領上主的會眾來到這曠野裏，叫我們和我們的牲畜都死在這裏﹖
5 And wherefore have ye made us to come up out of Egypt, to bring us in unto this evil place? it is no place of seed, or of figs, or of vines, or of pomegranates; neither is there any water to drink.'
為什麼你們使我們由埃及上來，領我們來到這樣壞的地方﹖這地方不但沒有糧食，沒有無花果，沒有葡萄，沒有石榴，而且連喝的水也沒有! 」
6 And Moses and Aaron went from the presence of the assembly unto the door of the tent of meeting, and fell upon their faces; and the glory of the LORD appeared unto them.
梅瑟和亞郎遂離開會眾，來到會幕門口，俯伏在地；上主的榮耀遂發現給他們。
7 And the LORD spoke unto Moses, saying:
上主吩咐梅瑟說：
8 'Take the rod, and assemble the congregation, thou, and Aaron thy brother, and speak ye unto the rock before their eyes, that it give forth its water; and thou shalt bring forth to them water out of the rock; so thou shalt give the congregation and their cattle drink.'
「你拿上棍杖，然後你和你的兄弟亞郎召集會眾，當著他們眼前對這磐石發命，叫磐石流水。這樣你便可使水由磐石中給他們流出，給會眾和他們的牲畜喝」。
9 And Moses took the rod from before the LORD, as He commanded him.
梅瑟就照上主吩咐他的，由上主面前拿了棍杖。
10 And Moses and Aaron gathered the assembly together before the rock, and he said unto them: 'Hear now, ye rebels; are we to bring you forth water out of this rock?'
梅瑟和亞郎召集會眾來到磐石前，對他們說：「你們這些叛徒，聽著! 我們豈能從這磐石中給你們引出水來﹖」
11 And Moses lifted up his hand, and smote the rock with his rod twice; and water came forth abundantly, and the congregation drank, and their cattle.
梅瑟遂舉起手來，用棍杖打了磐石兩次，才有大量的水湧出，會眾和他們的生畜都喝夠了。
12 And the LORD said unto Moses and Aaron: 'Because ye believed not in Me, to sanctify Me in the eyes of the children of Israel, therefore ye shall not bring this assembly into the land which I have given them.'
上主卻對梅瑟和亞郎說：「因為你們沒有相信我，使我以色列子民眼前被尊為聖，所以你們不得領這會眾進入我賜給他們的土地」。
13 These are the waters of Meribah, where the children of Israel strove with the LORD, and He was sanctified in them.
這就是默黎巴水的來歷，因為以色列子民在那裏與上主爭辯過，上主因而顯示了自己的聖德。
14 And Moses sent messengers from Kadesh unto the king of Edom: 'Thus saith thy brother Israel: Thou knowest all the travail that hath befallen us;
梅瑟由卡德士派遺使者去見厄東王說：「你的兄弟以色列這樣說：你知道我們所遭遇的一切困難，
15 how our fathers went down into Egypt, and we dwelt in Egypt a long time; and the Egyptians dealt ill with us, and our fathers;
我們的祖先下到了埃及。我們在埃及住了很久，埃及人虐待了我們和我們的祖先。
16 and when we cried unto the LORD, He heard our voice, and sent an angel, and brought us forth out of Egypt; and, behold, we are in Kadesh, a city in the uttermost of thy border.
我們曾向上主呼號，衪俯聽了我們的呼聲，派來了一位使者，領我們出離了埃及。看，我們現在就在你邊境上的卡德士城，
17 Let us pass, I pray thee, through thy land; we will not pass through field or through vineyard, neither will we drink of the water of the wells; we will go along the king's highway, we will not turn aside to the right hand nor to the left, until we have passed thy border.'
求你讓我們由你的境內經過；我們決不會踏過莊田或葡萄園，菩提不喝井裏的水，只走王道，不偏右，也不偏左；直至走過你的國境」。
18 And Edom said unto him: 'Thou shalt not pass through me, lest I come out with the sword against thee.'
厄東卻答覆說：「不准你們由我們這裏經過，不然我要以刀相迎」。
19 And the children of Israel said unto him: 'We will go up by the highway; and if we drink of thy water, I and my cattle, then will I give the price thereof; let me only pass through on my feet; there is no hurt.'
以色列子民再向他說：「我們只沿大路走，我們和我們的牲畜若喝了你的水，我們願付錢；只求經過這點小事」。
20 And he said: 'Thou shalt not pass through.' And Edom came out against him with much people, and with a strong hand.
他仍然說：「不准你經過」。厄東即領大隊人馬和武裝步隊出迎。
21 Thus Edom refused to give Israel passage through his border; wherefore Israel turned away from him.
厄東既然不讓以色列由他境內經過，以色列就從那裏折回。
22 And they journeyed from Kadesh; and the children of Israel, even the whole congregation, came unto mount Hor.
以色列子民全會眾由卡德士起程，來到了曷爾山。
23 And the LORD spoke unto Moses and Aaron in mount Hor, by the border of the land of Edom, saying:
在厄東國界的了曷爾山上，上主對梅瑟和亞郎說：
24 'Aaron shall be gathered unto his people; for he shall not enter into the land which I have given unto the children of Israel, because ye rebelled against My word at the waters of Meribah.
「亞郎要歸到他祖先那裏去，他不能進入我賜給以色列子民的地方，因為你們在默黎巴取水的事上，違背了我的訓令。
25 Take Aaron and Eleazar his son, and bring them up unto mount Hor.
你帶亞郎和他的兒子厄肋阿匝爾，一同上曷爾山上去，
26 And strip Aaron of his garments, and put them upon Eleazar his son; and Aaron shall be gathered unto his people, and shall die there.'
將亞郎的長袍脫下，給他的兒子厄肋阿匝爾穿上，因為亞郎要被召回歸去，死在那裏」。
27 And Moses did as the LORD commanded; and they went up into mount Hor in the sight of all the congregation.
梅瑟就照上主吩咐的做了。當著全會眾的面，他們上了曷爾山。
28 And Moses stripped Aaron of his garments, and put them upon Eleazar his son; and Aaron died there in the top of the mount; and Moses and Eleazar came down from the mount.
梅瑟把亞郎的長袍脫下，給他的兒子厄肋阿匝爾穿上，亞郎就在山頂死了。以後梅瑟和厄肋阿匝爾由山上下來。
29 And when all the congregation saw that Aaron was dead, they wept for Aaron thirty days, even all the house of Israel.
全會眾知道亞郎死了，以色列全家為亞郎舉哀三十天。
