Malachi 2
1 And now, this commandment is for you, O ye priests.
祭司たちよ、今この命令があなたがたに与えられる。
2 If ye will not hearken, and if ye will not lay it to heart, to give glory unto My name, saith the LORD of hosts, then will I send the curse upon you, and I will curse your blessings; yea, I curse them, because ye do not lay it to heart.
万軍の主は言われる、あなたがたがもし聞き従わず、またこれを心に留めず、わが名に栄光を帰さないならば、わたしはあなたがたの上に、のろいを送り、またあなたがたの祝福をのろいに変える。あなたがたは、これを心に留めないので、わたしはすでにこれをのろった。
3 Behold, I will rebuke the seed for your hurt, and will spread dung upon your faces, even the dung of your sacrifices; and ye shall be taken away unto it.
見よ、わたしはあなたがたの子孫を責める。またあなたがたの犠牲の糞を、あなたがたの顔の上にまき散らし、あなたがたをわたしの前から退ける。
4 Know then that I have sent this commandment unto you, that My covenant might be with Levi, saith the LORD of hosts.
こうしてわたしが、この命令をあなたがたに与えたのは、レビと結んだわが契約が、保たれるためであることを、あなたがたが知るためであると、万軍の主は言われる。
5 My covenant was with him of life and peace, and I gave them to him, and of fear, and he feared Me, and was afraid of My name.
彼と結んだわが契約は、生命と平安との契約であって、わたしがこれを彼に与えたのは、彼にわたしを恐れさせるためである。彼はすでにわたしを恐れ、わが名の前におののいた。
6 The law of truth was in his mouth, and unrighteousness was not found in his lips; he walked with Me in peace and uprightness, and did turn many away from iniquity.
彼の口には、まことの律法があり、そのくちびるには、不義が見られなかった。彼は平安と公義とをもって、わたしと共に歩み、また多くの人を不義から立ち返らせた。
7 For the priest's lips should keep knowledge, and they should seek the law at his mouth; for he is the messenger of the LORD of hosts.
祭司のくちびるは知識を保ち、人々が彼の口から律法を尋ねるのが当然である。彼は万軍の主の使者だからだ。
8 But ye are turned aside out of the way; ye have caused many to stumble in the law; ye have corrupted the covenant of Levi, saith the LORD of hosts.
ところが、あなたがたは道を離れ、多くの人を教えてつまずかせ、レビの契約を破ったと、万軍の主は言われる。
9 Therefore have I also made you contemptible and base before all the people, according as ye have not kept My ways, but have had respect of persons in the law.
あなたがたはわたしの道を守らず、律法を教えるに当って、人にかたよったがために、あなたがたをすべての民の前に侮られ、卑しめられるようにする」。
10 Have we not all one father? Hath not one God created us? Why do we deal treacherously every man against his brother, profaning the covenant of our fathers?
われわれの父は皆一つではないか。われわれを造った神は一つではないか。なにゆえ、われわれは先祖たちの契約を破って、おのおのその兄弟に偽りを行うのか。
11 Judah hath dealt treacherously, and an abomination is committed in Israel and in Jerusalem; for Judah hath profaned the holiness of the LORD which He loveth, and hath married the daughter of a strange god.
ユダは偽りを行い、イスラエルおよびエルサレムの中には憎むべき事が行われた。すなわちユダは主が愛しておられる聖所を汚して、他の神に仕える女をめとった。
12 May the LORD cut off to the man that doeth this, him that calleth and him that answereth out of the tents of Jacob, and him that offereth an offering unto the LORD of hosts.
どうか、主がこうした事を行う人をば、証言する者も、答弁する者も、また万軍の主にささげ物をする者をも、ヤコブの幕屋から断たれるように。
13 And this further ye do: ye cover the altar of the LORD with tears, with weeping, and with sighing, insomuch that He regardeth not the offering any more, neither receiveth it with good will at your hand.
あなたがたはまたこのような事をする。すなわち神がもはやささげ物をかえりみず、またこれをあなたがたの手から、喜んで受けられないために、あなたがたは涙と、泣くことと、嘆きとをもって、主の祭壇をおおい、
14 Yet ye say: 'Wherefore?' Because the LORD hath been witness between thee and the wife of thy youth, against whom thou hast dealt treacherously, though she is thy companion, and the wife of thy covenant.
「なぜ神は受けられないのか」と尋ねる。これは主があなたと、あなたの若い時の妻との間の、契約の証人だったからである。彼女は、あなたの連れ合い、契約によるあなたの妻であるのに、あなたは彼女を裏切った。
15 And not one hath done so who had exuberance of spirit! For what seeketh the one? a seed given of God. Therefore take heed to your spirit, and let none deal treacherously against the wife of his youth.
一つ神は、われわれのために命の霊を造り、これをささえられたではないか。彼は何を望まれるか。神を敬う子孫であるゆえ、あなたがたはみずから慎んで、その若い時の妻を裏切ってはならない。
16 For I hate putting away, saith the LORD, the God of Israel, and him that covereth his garment with violence, saith the LORD of hosts; therefore take heed to your spirit, that ye deal not treacherously.
イスラエルの神、主は言われる、「わたしは離縁する者を憎み、また、しえたげをもってその衣をおおう人を憎むと、万軍の主は言われる。ゆえにみずから慎んで、裏切ることをしてはならない」。
17 Ye have wearied the LORD with your words. Yet ye say: 'Wherein have we wearied Him?' In that ye say: 'Every one that doeth evil is good in the sight of the LORD, and He delighteth in them; or where is the God of justice?'
あなたがたは言葉をもって主を煩わした。しかしあなたがたは言う、「われわれはどんなふうに、彼を煩わしたか」。それはあなたがたが「すべて悪を行う者は主の目に良く見え、かつ彼に喜ばれる」と言い、また「さばきを行う神はどこにあるか」と言うからである。
