< Judges 8 >
1 And the men of Ephraim said unto him: 'Why hast thou served us thus, that thou didst not call us when thou wentest to fight with Midian?' And they did chide with him sharply.
Na rĩrĩ, andũ a Efiraimu makĩũria Gideoni atĩrĩ, “Nĩ kĩĩ gĩtũmĩte ũtwĩke ũguo? Wagire gũtwĩta ũgĩthiĩ kũhũũrana na Amidiani nĩkĩ?” Nao makĩmũtetia mũno.
2 And he said unto them: 'What have I now done in comparison with you? Is not the gleaning of Ephraim better than the vintage of Abiezer?
Nowe akĩmacookeria atĩrĩ, “Nĩatĩa niĩ njĩkĩte ngerekanĩtio na inyuĩ? Githĩ kũhaara thabibũ cia Efiraimu ti kwega gũkĩra magetha mothe ma thabibũ cia Abiezeri?
3 God hath delivered into your hand the princes of Midian, Oreb and Zeeb; and what was I able to do in comparison with you?' Then their anger was abated toward him, when he had said that.
Ngai nĩaneanire Orebu na Zeebu, atongoria a Amidiani moko-inĩ manyu. Nĩatĩa niĩ hotete gwĩka ngerekanĩtio na inyuĩ?” Maigua ũguo, marakara marĩa maamũrakarĩire namo magĩthira.

Nake akĩĩra andũ a Sukothu atĩrĩ, “Heei ita rĩakwa kĩndũ gĩa kũrĩa; nĩ ũndũ nĩ anogu biũ, na no ndengʼeretie Zeba na Zalimuna, athamaki a Midiani.”
6 And the princes of Succoth said: 'Are the hands of Zebah and Zalmunna now in thy power, that we should give bread unto thine army?'
No anene a Sukothu makĩmũũria atĩrĩ, “Rĩu-rĩ, ũkĩrĩ ũranyiita Zeba na Zalimuna magakorwo marĩ moko-inĩ maku? Tũkũhe thigari ciaku irio nĩkĩ?”
7 And Gideon said: 'Therefore when the LORD hath delivered Zebah and Zalmunna into my hand, then I will tear your flesh with the thorns of the wilderness and with briers.'
8 And he went up thence to Penuel, and spoke unto them in like manner; and the men of Penuel answered him as the men of Succoth had answered.
Oima kũu akĩambata nginya Penieli, akĩmooria o ta ũguo oorĩtie andũ a Sukothu, nao magĩcookia o ta ũrĩa andũ a Sukothu maamũcookeirie.

Nĩ ũndũ ũcio akĩĩra andũ a Penieli atĩrĩ, “Hĩndĩ ĩrĩa ngaahũndũka hootanĩte-rĩ, niĩ nĩngamomora mũthiringo ũyũ mũraihu na igũrũ.”
10 Now Zebah and Zalmunna were in Karkor, and their hosts with them, about fifteen thousand men, all that were left of all the host of the children of the east; for there fell a hundred and twenty thousand men that drew sword.
Nao Zeba na Zalimuna maarĩ kũu Karikori marĩ na ita rĩa andũ ta 15,000, acio oiki no-o maatigaire kuuma kũrĩ mbũtũ ya andũ a irathĩro; andũ 100,000 rĩa mĩrongo ĩĩrĩ arĩa maarũaga na hiũ cia njora nĩ moragĩtwo.

13 And Gideon the son of Joash returned from the battle from the ascent of Heres.
Gideoni mũrũ wa Joashu akĩhũndũka oimĩte mbaara-inĩ, agereire Ihĩtũkĩro rĩa Heresi.
14 And he caught a young man of the men of Succoth, and inquired of him; and he wrote down for him the princes of Succoth, and the elders thereof, seventy and seven men.
Nake akĩnyiita mwanake wa Sukothu, na akĩmũhooya ũhoro, nake mwanake ũcio akĩmwandĩkĩra marĩĩtwa ma anene mĩrongo mũgwanja na mũgwanja a Sukothu, na nĩo athuuri a itũũra rĩu.
15 And he came unto the men of Succoth, and said: 'Behold Zebah and Zalmunna, concerning whom ye did taunt me, saying: Are the hands of Zebah and Zalmunna now in thy power, that we should give bread unto thy men that are weary?'
Hĩndĩ ĩyo Gideoni agĩũka, akĩĩra andũ a Sukothu atĩrĩ, “Aya nĩo Zeba na Zalimuna, arĩa mwanyũrũrĩirie ũhoro wao, mũkiuga atĩrĩ, ‘Anga nĩũkĩnyiitĩte Zeba na Zalimuna magakorwo marĩ moko-inĩ maku? Tũkũhe andũ aya aku anogu irio nĩkĩ?’”
16 And he took the elders of the city, and thorns of the wilderness and briers, and with them he taught the men of Succoth.
17 And he broke down the tower of Penuel, and slew the men of the city.
18 Then said he unto Zebah and Zalmunna: 'Where are the men whom ye slew at Tabor?' And they answered: 'As thou art, so were they; of one form with the children of a king.'
Hĩndĩ ĩyo akĩũria Zeba na Zalimuna atĩrĩ, “Andũ arĩa mworagĩire kũu Tabori-rĩ, maahaanaga atĩa?” Nao magĩcookia atĩrĩ, “Nĩ andũ tawe, o ũmwe wao aahaanaga ta mũrũ wa mũthamaki.”
19 And he said: 'They were my brethren, the sons of my mother; as the LORD liveth, if ye had saved them alive, I would not slay you.'
Gideoni akĩmacookeria atĩrĩ, “Acio maarĩ ariũ a baba, o na ariũ a maitũ. O ta ũrĩa Jehova atũũraga muoyo-rĩ, korwo nĩmwahonokirie mĩoyo yao-rĩ, ndingĩamũũraga.”
20 And he said unto Jether his first-born: 'Up, and slay them.' But the youth drew not his sword; for he feared, because he was yet a youth.
Akĩgarũrũkĩra Jetheri, mũriũ wake wa irigithathi, akĩmwĩra atĩrĩ, “Moorage!” Nowe Jetheri ndaigana gũcomora rũhiũ rwa njora, tondũ aarĩ o kamwana kanini, na nĩetigagĩra.
21 Then Zebah and Zalmunna said: 'Rise thou, and fall upon us; for as the man is, so is his strength.' And Gideon arose, and slew Zebah and Zalmunna, and took the crescents that were on their camels' necks.

23 And Gideon said unto them: 'I will not rule over you, neither shall my son rule over you; the LORD shall rule over you.'
Nowe Gideoni akĩmeera atĩrĩ, “Niĩ ndikũmũthamakĩra, o na kana mũrũ wakwa. Jehova nĩwe ũkũmũthamakĩra.”
24 And Gideon said unto them: 'I would make a request of you, that ye would give me every man the ear-rings of his spoil.' — For they had golden ear-rings, because they were Ishmaelites.
Ningĩ akĩmeera atĩrĩ, “Harĩ ũndũ ũngĩ ũmwe ngũmũhooya, naguo nĩ atĩ o ũmwe wanyu aahe gĩcũhĩ kĩmwe gĩa gũtũ kĩa iria aatahire.” (Ũcio warĩ mũtugo wa Aishumaeli, gwĩkĩra icũhĩ cia thahabu matũ.)
25 And they answered: 'We will willingly give them.' And they spread a garment, and did cast therein every man the ear-rings of his spoil.

26 And the weight of the golden ear-rings that he requested was a thousand and seven hundred shekels of gold; beside the crescents, and the pendants, and the purple raiment that was on the kings of Midian, and beside the chains that were about their camels' necks.
Naguo ũritũ wa icũhĩ icio cia thahabu aahooete wakinyire cekeri 1,700, mathaga marĩa mangĩ matatarĩtwo, na nĩmo mĩgathĩ, na nguo cia rangi wa ndathi iria ciehumbagwo nĩ athamaki a Amidiani, kana mĩnyororo ĩrĩa yarĩ ngingo cia ngamĩĩra ciao.
27 And Gideon made an ephod thereof, and put it in his city, even in Ophrah; and all Israel went astray after it there; and it became a snare unto Gideon, and to his house.

33 And it came to pass, as soon as Gideon was dead, that the children of Israel again went astray after the Baalim, and made Baal-berith their god.
Gideoni akua-rĩ, andũ a Isiraeli o rĩngĩ nĩmahũũrire ũmaraya na Mabaali. Makĩrũgamia Baali-Berithu ĩtuĩke ngai yao,
