Judges 17

1 Now there was a man of the hill-country of Ephraim, whose name was Micah.

Hubo también un hombre de la región montañosa de Efraín llamado Micaía,

2 And he said unto his mother: 'The eleven hundred pieces of silver that were taken from thee, about which thou didst utter a curse, and didst also speak it in mine ears, behold, the silver is with me; I took it.' And his mother said: 'Blessed be my son of the LORD.'

quien le dijo a su madre: Los 12,1 kilogramos de plata que te fueron robados, con respecto a los cuales pronunciaste maldición a mis oídos, mira, aquella plata está en mi poder. Yo la tomé. Y su madre le dijo: ¡Bendito seas por Yavé, hijo mío!

3 And he restored the eleven hundred pieces of silver to his mother, and his mother said: 'I verily dedicate the silver unto the LORD from my hand for my son, to make a graven image and a molten image; now therefore I will restore it unto thee.'

Él devolvió los 12,1 kilogramos de plata a su madre, y ella dijo: En verdad dedico esta plata a Yavé para mi hijo, a fin de que haga una imagen tallada y otra de fundición. Ahora pues, te la devuelvo.

4 And when he restored the money unto his mother, his mother took two hundred pieces of silver, and gave them to the founder, who made thereof a graven image and a molten image; and it was in the house of Micah.

Sin embargo, él devolvió la plata a su madre. Ella tomó 2,2 kilogramos de plata, los entregó al fundidor, el cual hizo con ellos una imagen tallada y otra de fundición, las cuales quedaron en la casa de Micaía.

5 And the man Micah had a house of God, and he made an ephod, and teraphim, and consecrated one of his sons, who became his priest.

De manera que Micaía tuvo un santuario. Hizo un efod e ídolos domésticos y consagró a uno de sus hijos para que fuera su sacerdote.

6 In those days there was no king in Israel; every man did that which was right in his own eyes.

En aquellos días no había rey en Israel, y cada uno hacía lo que le parecía recto.

7 And there was a young man out of Beth-lehem in Judah — in the family of Judah — who was a Levite, and he sojourned there.

Hubo también un joven de Belén de Judá, de la familia de Judá, el cual era levita, y vivía allí como forastero.

8 And the man departed out of the city, out of Beth-lehem in Judah, to sojourn where he could find a place; and he came to the hill-country of Ephraim to the house of Micah, as he journeyed.

Este hombre salió de la ciudad de Belén de Judá para residir donde hallara lugar. Cuando caminaba por la región montañosa de Efraín llegó hasta la casa de Micaía.

9 And Micah said unto him: 'Whence comest thou?' And he said unto him: 'I am a Levite of Beth-lehem in Judah, and I go to sojourn where I may find a place.'

Micaía le dijo: ¿De dónde vienes? Y le respondió: Soy levita de Belén de Judá, y voy a residir donde halle lugar.

10 And Micah said unto him: 'Dwell with me, and be unto me a father and a priest, and I will give thee ten pieces of silver by the year, and a suit of apparel, and thy victuals.' So the Levite went in.

Micaía le dijo: Quédate conmigo. Me servirás de padre y sacerdote, y te daré 1,1 kilogramos de plata por año, tu ropa y tu comida. Y el levita se quedó.

11 And the Levite was content to dwell with the man; and the young man was unto him as one of his sons.

El levita convino en vivir con aquel hombre, y el joven fue para él como uno de sus hijos.

12 And Micah consecrated the Levite, and the young man became his priest, and was in the house of Micah.

Micaía consagró al levita, y el joven fue su sacerdote y vivía en casa de Micaía.

13 Then said Micah: 'Now know I that the LORD will do me good, seeing I have a Levite as my priest.'

Y Micaía dijo: ¡Ahora sé que Yavé me prosperará porque tengo a un levita como sacerdote!
