Judges 13

1 And the children of Israel again did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD; and the LORD delivered them into the hand of the Philistines forty years.

Et de nouveau les enfants d’Israël tirent le mal en la présence du Seigneur, qui les livra aux mains des Philistins pendant quarante ans.

2 And there was a certain man of Zorah, of the family of the Danites, whose name was Manoah; and his wife was barren, and bore not.

Or, il y avait un certain homme de Saraa, et de la race de Dan, du nom de Manué, ayant une femme stérile,

3 And the angel of the LORD appeared unto the woman, and said unto her: 'Behold now, thou art barren, and hast not borne; but thou shalt conceive, and bear a son.

À qui l’ange du Seigneur apparut, et dit: Tu es stérile et sans enfants; mais tu concevras et tu enfanteras un fils.

4 Now therefore beware, I pray thee, and drink no wine nor strong drink, and eat not any unclean thing.

Prends donc bien garde de ne point boire de vin, et de cervoise, et de ne manger rien d’impur,

5 For, lo, thou shalt conceive, and bear a son; and no razor shall come upon his head; for the child shall be a Nazirite unto God from the womb; and he shall begin to save Israel out of the hand of the Philistines.'

Parce que tu concevras et tu enfanteras un fils dont le rasoir ne touchera pas la tête; car il sera nazaréen de Dieu, depuis son enfance et dès le sein de sa mère; et c’est lui qui commencera à délivrer Israël de la main des Philistins.

6 Then the woman came and told her husband, saying: 'A man of God came unto me, and his countenance was like the countenance of the angel of God, very terrible; and I asked him not whence he was, neither told he me his name;

Et étant venue vers son mari, elle lui dit: L’homme de Dieu est venu vers moi, ayant le visage d’un ange, et inspirant la plus grande terreur. Lorsque je lui ai demandé qui il était, d’où il venait, et de quel nom il s’appelait, il n’a pas voulu me le dire.

7 but he said unto me: Behold, thou shalt conceive, and bear a son; and now drink no wine nor strong drink, and eat not any unclean thing; for the child shall be a Nazirite unto God from the womb to the day of his death.'

Mais il m’a répondu ceci: Voilà que tu concevras et enfanteras un fils: prends garde de ne point boire de vin ni de cervoise, et de ne rien manger d’impur; car l’enfant sera nazaréen de Dieu depuis son enfance, du sein de sa mère jusqu’au jour de sa mort.

8 Then Manoah entreated the LORD, and said: 'Oh, LORD, I pray Thee, let the man of God whom Thou didst send come again unto us, and teach us what we shall do unto the child that shall be born.'

C’est pourquoi Manué pria le Seigneur et dit: Je vous conjure. Seigneur, que l’homme de Dieu, que vous avez envoyé, vienne de nouveau, et qu’il nous enseigne ce que nous devons faire de l’enfant qui doit naître.

9 And God hearkened to the voice of Manoah; and the angel of God came again unto the woman as she sat in the field; but Manoah her husband was not with her.

Et le Seigneur exauça Manué priant, et de nouveau apparut l’ange de Dieu à sa femme, assise dans la campagne. Or, Manué son mari n’était pas avec elle. Et lorsqu’elle eut vu l’ange,

10 And the woman made haste, and ran, and told her husband, and said unto him: 'Behold, the man hath appeared unto me, that came unto me that day.'

Elle se hâta, courut à son mari, et le lui annonça, disant: Voilà que m’a apparu l’homme que j’avais vu auparavant.

11 And Manoah arose, and went after his wife, and came to the man, and said unto him: 'Art thou the man that spokest unto the woman?' And he said: 'I am.'

Manué se leva et suivit sa femme; puis, venant vers l’homme, il lui dit: Vous êtes celui qui avez parlé à cette femme? Et il répondit: Je le suis.

12 And Manoah said: 'Now when thy word cometh to pass, what shall be the rule for the child, and what shall be done with him?'

Et Manué à l’homme: Quand, dit-il, votre parole sera accomplie, que voulez-vous que fasse l’enfant? ou de quoi devra-t-il s’abstenir?

13 And the angel of the LORD said unto Manoah: 'Of all that I said unto the woman let her beware.

Et l’ange du Seigneur répondit à Manué: Que ta femme s’abstienne de toutes les choses que je lui ai indiquées;

14 She may not eat of any thing that cometh of the grapevine, neither let her drink wine or strong drink, nor eat any unclean thing; all that I commanded her let her observe.'

Qu’elle ne mange rien de ce qui naît de la vigne; qu’elle ne boive point de vin ni de cervoise; qu’elle ne mange rien d’impur; et que ce que je lui ai ordonné, elle l’accomplisse et le garde.

15 And Manoah said unto the angel of the LORD: 'I pray thee, let us detain thee, that we may make ready a kid for thee.'

Alors Manué dit à l’ange du Seigneur: Je vous conjure d’acquiescer à mes prières; et, puissions-nous vous préparer un chevreau.

16 And the angel of the LORD said unto Manoah: 'Though thou detain me, I will not eat of thy bread; and if thou wilt make ready a burnt-offering, thou must offer it unto the LORD.' For Manoah knew not that he was the angel of the LORD.

L’ange lui répondit: Quand tu me presserais, je ne mangerais pas de tes pains; mais si tu veux faire un holocauste, offre-le au Seigneur, Et Manué ne savait pas que ce fût l’ange du Seigneur.

17 And Manoah said unto the angel of the LORD: 'What is thy name, that when thy words come to pass we may do thee honour?'

Il lui dit encore: Quel est votre nom, afin que, si vos paroles s’accomplissent, nous vous honorions?

18 And the angel of the LORD said unto him: 'Wherefore askest thou after my name, seeing it is hidden?'

L’ange lui répondit: Pourquoi demandes-tu mon nom, qui est admirable?

19 So Manoah took the kid with the meal-offering, and offered it upon the rock unto the LORD; and the angel did wondrously, and Manoah and his wife looked on.

Manué prit donc le chevreau et les libations, et les plaça sur le rocher, les offrant au Seigneur qui fait les merveilles: or, lui-même et sa femme regardaient.

20 For it came to pass, when the flame went up toward heaven from off the altar, that the angel of the LORD ascended in the flame of the altar; and Manoah and his wife looked on; and they fell on their faces to the ground.

Et lorsque la flamme de l’autel montait vers le ciel, l’ange du Seigneur monta pareillement dans la flamme. Ce qu’ayant vu Manué et sa femme, ils tombèrent inclinés vers la terre.

21 But the angel of the LORD did no more appear to Manoah or to his wife. Then Manoah knew that he was the angel of the LORD.

Et l’ange du Seigneur n’apparut plus à leurs yeux. Et aussitôt Manué comprit que c’était l’ange du Seigneur.

22 And Manoah said unto his wife: 'We shall surely die, because we have seen God.'

Et il dit à sa femme: Nous mourrons de mort, parce que nous avons vu le Seigneur.

23 But his wife said unto him: 'If the LORD were pleased to kill us, He would not have received a burnt-offering and a meal-offering at our hand, neither would He have shown us all these things, nor would at this time have told such things as these.'

Sa femme lui répondit: Si le Seigneur voulait nous faire mourir, il n’aurait pas reçu de nos mains d’holocaustes et de libations, il ne nous aurait pas montré toutes ces choses, et il n’aurait pas dit ce qui doit arriver.

24 And the woman bore a son, and called his name Samson; and the child grew, and the LORD blessed him.

Elle enfanta donc un fils, et elle l’appela du nom de Samson. Et l’enfant grandit, et le Seigneur le bénit.

25 And the spirit of the LORD began to move him in Mahaneh-dan, between Zorah and Eshtaol.

Et l’esprit du Seigneur commença à être avec lui, dans le camp de Dan, entre Saraa et Esthaol.
