Joshua 21

1 Then came near the heads of fathers' houses of the Levites unto Eleazar the priest, and unto Joshua the son of Nun, and unto the heads of fathers' houses of the tribes of the children of Israel;

En aquel tiempo los jefes de las casas paternas de los levitas acudieron al sacerdote Eleazar, a Josué, hijo de Nun, y a los jefes de las tribus de los hijos de Israel.

2 and they spoke unto them at Shiloh in the land of Canaan, saying: 'The LORD commanded by the hand of Moses to give us cities to dwell in, with the open land thereabout for our cattle.'

Les hablaron en Silo, en tierra de Canaán: Yavé ordenó por medio de Moisés que se nos den ciudades para vivir, con sus pastizales para nuestros animales.

3 And the children of Israel gave unto the Levites out of their inheritance, according to the commandment of the LORD, these cities with the open land about them.

Entonces, según el mandamiento de Yavé, los hijos de Israel dieron de su heredad a los levitas estas ciudades con sus pastizales.

4 And the lot came out for the families of the Kohathites; and the children of Aaron the priest, who were of the Levites, had by lot out of the tribe of Judah, and out of the tribe of the Simeonites, and out of the tribe of Benjamin, thirteen cities.

La suerte salió para las familias de los coatitas. Estos hijos del sacerdote Aarón, quien fue de los levitas, recibieron 13 ciudades por sorteo de parte de la tribu de Judá, de la tribu de Simeón y de la tribu de Benjamín.

5 And the rest of the children of Kohath had by lot out of the families of the tribe of Ephraim, and out of the tribe of Dan, and out of the half-tribe of Manasseh, ten cities.

El resto de los hijos de Coat recibieron por sorteo diez ciudades de las familias de la tribu de Efraín, de la tribu de Dan y de la media tribu de Manasés.

6 And the children of Gershon had by lot out of the families of the tribe of Issachar, and out of the tribe of Asher, and out of the tribe of Naphtali, and out of the half-tribe of Manasseh in Bashan, thirteen cities.

Los hijos de Gersón recibieron por sorteo de parte de las familias de la tribu de Isacar, de la tribu de Aser, de la tribu de Neftalí y de la media tribu de Manasés, en Basán, 13 ciudades.

7 The children of Merari according to their families had out of the tribe of Reuben, and out of the tribe of Gad, and out of the tribe of Zebulun, twelve cities.

Los hijos de Merari, según sus familias, recibieron de parte de la tribu de Rubén, la tribu de Gad y la tribu de Zabulón, 12 ciudades.

8 And the children of Israel gave by lot unto the Levites these cities with the open land about them, as the LORD commanded by the hand of Moses.

Así, los hijos de Israel dieron por sorteo a los levitas estas ciudades con sus pastizales, como Yavé ordenó por medio de Moisés.

9 And they gave out of the tribe of the children of Judah, and out of the tribe of the children of Simeon, these cities which are here mentioned by name.

De la tribu de los hijos de Judá y de la tribu de los hijos de Simeón, les dieron esas ciudades que se mencionan por nombre,

10 And they were for the children of Aaron, of the families of the Kohathites, who were of the children of Levi; for theirs was the first lot.

que fueron para una de las familias de los coatitas, de los hijos de Aarón, quien era de los hijos de Leví. Porque la primera suerte fue para ellos,

11 And they gave them Kiriath-arba, which Arba was the father of Anak — the same is Hebron — in the hill-country of Judah, with the open land round about it.

a los cuales dieron Quiriat-arba (Arba fue el padre de Anac, que es Hebrón), en la región montañosa de Judá, con los pastizales en sus alrededores.

12 But the fields of the city, and the villages thereof, gave they to Caleb the son of Jephunneh for his possession.

Pero le dieron a Caleb, hijo de Jefone, como posesión suya, los campos de la ciudad con sus aldeas.

13 And unto the children of Aaron the priest they gave Hebron with the open land about it, the city of refuge for the manslayer, and Libnah with the open land about it;

A los hijos del sacerdote Aarón les dieron Hebrón con sus pastizales como ciudad de refugio para los homicidas, y además, Libná con sus pastizales,

14 and Jattir with the open land about it, and Eshtemoa with the open land about it;

15 and Holon with the open land about it, and Debir with the open land about it;

16 and Ain with the open land about it, and Juttah with the open land about it, and Beth-shemesh with the open land about it; nine cities out of those two tribes.

17 And out of the tribe of Benjamin, Gibeon with the open land about it, Geba with the open land about it;

De la tribu de Benjamín, Gabaón con sus pastizales, Geba con sus pastizales,

18 Anathoth with the open land about it, and Almon with the open land about it; four cities.

Anatot con sus pastizales, y Almón con sus pastizales, cuatro ciudades.

19 All the cities of the children of Aaron, the priests, were thirteen cities with the open land about them.

El total de las ciudades de los sacerdotes, hijos de Aarón, fue 13, con sus pastizales.

20 And the families of the children of Kohath, the Levites, even the rest of the children of Kohath, they had the cities of their lot out of the tribe of Ephraim.

Los levitas que quedaban de las familias de los hijos de Coat, recibieron por sorteo unas ciudades de la tribu de Efraín.

21 And they gave them Shechem with the open land about it in the hill-country of Ephraim, the city of refuge for the manslayer, and Gezer with the open land about it;

En la región montañosa de Efraín les dieron Siquem como ciudad de refugio para los homicidas, con sus pastizales, Gezer con sus pastizales,

22 and Kibzaim with the open land about it, and Beth-horon with the open land about it; four cities.

Quibsaim con sus pastizales y Bet-horón con sus pastizales, cuatro ciudades.

23 And out of the tribe of Dan, Elteke with the open land about it, Gibbethon with the open land about it;

De la tribu de Dan, Elteque con sus pastizales, Gibetón con sus pastizales,

24 Aijalon with the open land about it, Gath-rimmon with the open land about it; four cities.

Ajalón con sus pastizales y Gat-rimón con sus pastizales, cuatro ciudades.

25 And out of the half-tribe of Manasseh, Taanach with the open land about it, and Gath-rimmon with the open land about it; two cities.

De la media tribu de Manasés, Taanac con sus pastizales y Gat-rimón con sus pastizales, dos ciudades.

26 All the cities of the families of the rest of the children of Kohath were ten with the open land about them.

El total de las ciudades para el resto de las familias de los hijos de Coat fue diez, con sus pastizales:

27 And unto the children of Gershon, of the families of the Levites, out of the half-tribe of Manasseh they gave Golan in Bashan with the open land about it, the city of refuge for the manslayer; and Beeshterah with the open land about it; two cities.

A los hijos de Gersón, una de las familias de los levitas, les dieron de la media tribu de Manasés a Golán, una de las ciudades de refugio para los homicidas en Basán, con sus pastizales, y a Beestera con sus pastizales, dos ciudades.

28 And out of the tribe of Issachar, Kishion with the open land about it, Dobrath with the open land about it;

De la tribu de Isacar, Cisón con sus pastizales, Daberat con sus pastizales,

29 Jarmuth with the open land about it, En-gannim with the open land about it; four cities.

Jarmut con sus pastizales y En-ganim con sus pastizales, cuatro ciudades.

30 And out of the tribe of Asher, Mishal with the open land about it, Abdon with the open land about it;

De la tribu de Aser, Miseal con sus pastizales, Abdón con sus pastizales,

31 Helkath with the open land about it, and Rehob with the open land about it; four cities.

Helcat con sus pastizales, y Rehob con sus pastizales, cuatro ciudades.

32 And out of the tribe of Naphtali, Kedesh in Galilee with the open land about it, the city of refuge for the manslayer, and Hammoth-dor with the open land about it, and Kartan with the open land about it; three cities.

De la tribu de Neftalí, la ciudad de refugio para los homicidas, Cedes, en Galilea, con sus pastizales, Jamot-dor con sus pastizales y Cartán con sus pastizales: tres ciudades.

33 All the cities of the Gershonites according to their families were thirteen cities with the open land about them.

El total de las ciudades de los gersonitas, por sus familias, fue 13 ciudades con sus pastizales.

34 And unto the families of the children of Merari, the rest of the Levites, out of the tribe of Zebulun, Jokneam with the open land about it, and Kartah with the open land about it;

A las familias de los hijos de Merari, los levitas que quedaron, les dieron, de la tribu de Zabulón, Jocneam con sus pastizales, Carta con sus pastizales,

35 Dimnah with the open land about it, Nahalal with the open land about it; four cities.

Dimna con sus pastizales y Nahalal con sus pastizales, cuatro ciudades.

36 And out of the tribe of Reuben, Bezer with the open land about it, and Jahaz with the open land about it;

De la tribu de Rubén, Beser con sus pastizales, Jasa con sus pastizales,

37 Kedemoth with the open land about it, and Mephaath with the open land about it; four cities.

Cademot con sus pastizales y Mefaat con sus pastizales, cuatro ciudades.

38 And out of the tribe of Gad, Ramoth in Gilead with the open land about it, the city of refuge for the manslayer, and Mahanaim with the open land about it;

De la tribu de Gad, la ciudad de refugio para los homicidas, Ramot en Galaad con sus pastizales, Mahanaim con sus pastizales,

39 Heshbon with the open land about it, Jazer with the open land about it; four cities in all.

Hesbón con sus pastizales y Jaser con sus pastizales, cuatro ciudades.

40 All these were the cities of the children of Merari according to their families, even the rest of the families of the Levites; and their lot was twelve cities.

El total de las ciudades que tocaron por suerte a los hijos de Merari, según las familias que quedaban de los levitas, fueron 12.

41 All the cities of the Levites — forty and eight cities with the open land about them — shall be in the midst of the possession of the children of Israel,

Todas las ciudades de los levitas que estaban en medio de la propiedad de los hijos de Israel fueron 48 ciudades con sus pastizales.

42 even these cities, every one with the open land round about it; thus it shall be with all these cities.

Cada una de estas ciudades tenía sus pastizales alrededor. Así hicieron con todas estas ciudades.

43 So the LORD gave unto Israel all the land which He swore to give unto their fathers; and they possessed it, and dwelt therein.

De esta manera Yavé dio a Israel toda la tierra que juró a sus antepasados que les daría. Y ellos la poseyeron y vivieron en ella.

44 And the LORD gave them rest round about, according to all that He swore unto their fathers; and there stood not a man of all their enemies against them; the LORD delivered all their enemies into their hand.

Yavé les dio reposo alrededor, según todo lo que juró a sus antepasados. Ninguno de todos sus enemigos pudo hacerles frente, porque Yavé entregó a todos sus enemigos en sus manos.

45 There failed not aught of any good thing which the LORD had spoken unto the house of Israel; all came to pass.

No faltó palabra de todas las buenas cosas que Yavé habló a la casa de Israel. Todo se cumplió.
