Joel 2
1 Blow ye the horn in Zion, and sound an alarm in My holy mountain; let all the inhabitants of the land tremble; for the day of the LORD cometh, for it is at hand;
あなたがたはシオンでラッパを吹け。わが聖なる山で警報を吹きならせ。国の民はみな、ふるいわななけ。主の日が来るからである。それは近い。
2 A day of darkness and gloominess, a day of clouds and thick darkness, as blackness spread upon the mountains; a great people and a mighty, there hath not been ever the like, neither shall be any more after them, even to the years of many generations.
これは暗く、薄暗い日、雲の群がるまっくらな日である。多くの強い民が暗やみのようにもろもろの山をおおう。このようなことは昔からあったことがなく、後の代々の年にも再び起ることがないであろう。
3 A fire devoureth before them, and behind them a flame blazeth; the land is as the garden of Eden before them, and behind them a desolate wilderness; yea, and nothing escapeth them.
火は彼らの前を焼き、炎は彼らの後に燃える。彼らのこない前には、地はエデンの園のようであるが、その去った後は荒れ果てた野のようになる。これをのがれうるものは一つもない。
4 The appearance of them is as the appearance of horses; and as horsemen, so do they run.
そのかたちは馬のかたちのようであり、その走ることは軍馬のようである。
5 Like the noise of chariots, on the tops of the mountains do they leap, like the noise of a flame of fire that devoureth the stubble, as a mighty people set in battle array.
山の頂でとびおどる音は、戦車のとどろくようである。また刈り株を焼く火の炎の音のようであり、戦いの備えをした強い軍隊のようである。
6 At their presence the peoples are in anguish; all faces have gathered blackness.
その前にもろもろの民はなやみ、すべての顔は色を失う。
7 They run like mighty men, they climb the wall like men of war; and they move on every one in his ways, and they entangle not their paths.
彼らは勇士のように走り、兵士のように城壁によじ登る。彼らはおのおの自分の道を進んで行って、その道を踏みはずさない。
8 Neither doth one thrust another, they march every one in his highway; and they break through the weapons, and suffer no harm.
彼らは互におしあわず、おのおのその道を進み行く。彼らは武器の中にとびこんでも、身をそこなわない。
9 They leap upon the city, they run upon the wall, they climb up into the houses; they enter in at the windows like a thief.
彼らは町にとび入り、城壁の上を走り、家々によじ登り、盗びとのように窓からはいる。
10 Before them the earth quaketh, the heavens tremble; the sun and the moon are become black, and the stars withdraw their shining.
地は彼らの前におののき、天はふるい、日も月も暗くなり、星はその光を失う。
11 And the LORD uttereth His voice before His army; for His camp is very great, for he is mighty that executeth His word; for great is the day of the LORD and very terrible; and who can abide it?
主はその軍勢の前で声をあげられる。その軍隊は非常に多いからである。そのみ言葉をなし遂げる者は強い。主の日は大いにして、はなはだ恐ろしいゆえ、だれがこれに耐えることができよう。
12 Yet even now, saith the LORD, turn ye unto Me with all your heart, and with fasting, and with weeping, and with lamentation;
主は言われる、「今からでも、あなたがたは心をつくし、断食と嘆きと、悲しみとをもってわたしに帰れ。
13 And rend your heart, and not your garments, and turn unto the LORD your God; for He is gracious and compassionate, long-suffering, and abundant in mercy, and repenteth Him of the evil.
あなたがたは衣服ではなく、心を裂け」。あなたがたの神、主に帰れ。主は恵みあり、あわれみあり、怒ることがおそく、いつくしみが豊かで、災を思いかえされるからである。
14 Who knoweth whether He will not turn and repent, and leave a blessing behind Him, even a meal-offering and a drink-offering unto the LORD your God?
神があるいは立ち返り、思いかえして祝福をその後に残し、素祭と灌祭とをあなたがたの神、主にささげさせられる事はないとだれが知るだろうか。
15 Blow the horn in Zion, sanctify a fast, call a solemn assembly;
シオンでラッパを吹きならせ。断食を聖別し、聖会を召集し、
16 Gather the people, sanctify the congregation, assemble the elders, gather the children, and those that suck the breasts; let the bridegroom go forth from his chamber, and the bride out of her pavilion.
民を集め、会衆を聖別し、老人たちを集め、幼な子、乳のみ子を集め、花婿をその家から呼びだし、花嫁をそのへやから呼びだせ。
17 Let the priests, the ministers of the LORD, weep between the porch and the altar, and let them say: 'Spare thy people, O LORD, and give not Thy heritage to reproach, that the nations should make them a byword: wherefore should they say among the peoples: Where is their God?'
主に仕える祭司たちは、廊と祭壇との間で泣いて言え、「主よ、あなたの民をゆるし、あなたの嗣業をもろもろの国民のうちに、そしりと笑い草にさせないでください。どうしてもろもろの国民に、『彼らの神はどこにいるのか』と言わせてよいでしょうか」。
18 Then was the LORD jealous for His land, and had pity on His people.
その時主は自分の地のために、ねたみを起し、その民をあわれまれた。
19 And the LORD answered and said unto His people: 'Behold, I will send you corn, and wine, and oil, and ye shall be satisfied therewith; and I will no more make you a reproach among the nations;
主は答えて、その民に言われた、「見よ、わたしは穀物と新しい酒と油とをあなたがたに送る。あなたがたはこれを食べて飽きるであろう。わたしは重ねてあなたがたにもろもろの国民のうちでそしりを受けさせない。
20 But I will remove far off from you the northern one, and will drive him into a land barren and desolate, with his face toward the eastern sea, and his hinder part toward the western sea; that his foulness may come up, and his ill savour may come up, because he hath done great things.'
わたしは北から来る者をあなたがたから遠ざけ、これをかわいた荒れ地に追いやり、その前の者を東の海に、その後の者を西の海に追いやる。その臭いにおいは起り、その悪しきにおいは上る。これは大いなる事をしたからである。
21 Fear not, O land, be glad and rejoice; for the LORD hath done great things.
地よ恐るな、喜び楽しめ、主は大いなる事を行われたからである。
22 Be not afraid, ye beasts of the field; for the pastures of the wilderness do spring, for the tree beareth its fruit, the fig-tree and the vine do yield their strength.
野のもろもろの獣よ、恐るな。荒野の牧草はもえいで、木はその実を結び、いちじくの木とぶどうの木とは豊かに実る。
23 Be glad then, ye children of Zion, and rejoice in the LORD your God; for He giveth you the former rain in just measure, and He causeth to come down for you the rain, the former rain and the latter rain, at the first.
シオンの子らよ、あなたがたの神、主によって喜び楽しめ。主はあなたがたを義とするために秋の雨を賜い、またあなたがたのために豊かに雨を降らせ、前のように、秋の雨と春の雨とを降らせられる。
24 And the floors shall be full of corn, and the vats shall overflow with wine and oil.
打ち場は穀物で満ち、石がめは新しい酒と油とであふれる。
25 And I will restore to you the years that the locust hath eaten, the canker-worm, and the caterpiller, and the palmer-worm, My great army which I sent among you.
わたしがあなたがたに送った大軍、すなわち群がるいなご、とびいなご、滅ぼすいなご、かみ食らういなごの食った年をわたしはあなたがたに償う。
26 And ye shall eat in plenty and be satisfied, and shall praise the name of the LORD your God, that hath dealt wondrously with you; and My people shall never be ashamed.
あなたがたは、じゅうぶん食べて飽き、あなたがたに不思議なわざをなされたあなたがたの神、主のみ名をほめたたえる。わが民は永遠にはずかしめられることがない。
27 And ye shall know that I am in the midst of Israel, and that I am the LORD your God, and there is none else; and My people shall never be ashamed.
あなたがたはイスラエルのうちにわたしのいることを知り、主なるわたしがあなたがたの神であって、ほかにないことを知る。わが民は永遠にはずかしめられることがない。
28 And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out My spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions;
その後わたしはわが霊をすべての肉なる者に注ぐ。あなたがたのむすこ、娘は預言をし、あなたがたの老人たちは夢を見、あなたがたの若者たちは幻を見る。
29 And also upon the servants and upon the handmaids in those days will I pour out My spirit.
その日わたしはまたわが霊をしもべ、はしために注ぐ。
30 And I will shew wonders in the heavens and in the earth, blood, and fire, and pillars of smoke.
わたしはまた、天と地とにしるしを示す。すなわち血と、火と、煙の柱とがあるであろう。
31 The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the great and terrible day of the LORD come.
主の大いなる恐るべき日が来る前に、日は暗く、月は血に変る。
32 And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the LORD shall be delivered; for in mount Zion and in Jerusalem there shall be those that escape, as the LORD hath said, and among the remnant those whom the LORD shall call.
すべて主の名を呼ぶ者は救われる。それは主が言われたように、シオンの山とエルサレムとに、のがれる者があるからである。その残った者のうちに、主のお召しになる者がある。
