Job 5
1 Call now; is there any that will answer thee? And to which of the holy ones wilt thou turn?
¡Clama ahora! ¿Habrá quién te responda? ¿A cuál de los santos acudirás?
2 For anger killeth the foolish man, and envy slayeth the silly one.
Porque la ira mata al necio, y la envidia mata al simple.
3 I have seen the foolish taking root; but suddenly I beheld his habitation cursed.
Vi al necio que echaba raíces, y al instante maldije su vivienda.
4 His children are far from safety, and are crushed in the gate, with none to deliver them.
Sus hijos están lejos de toda seguridad. Son aplastados en la puerta y no habrá quién los defienda.
5 Whose harvest the hungry eateth up, and taketh it even out of the thorns, and the snare gapeth for their substance.
Su cosecha la devoran los hambrientos y aun la sacan de entre los espinos. Los sedientos sorben su hacienda.
6 For affliction cometh not forth from the dust, neither doth trouble spring out of the ground;
Porque la aflicción no sale del polvo, ni el sufrimiento brota de la tierra,
7 But man is born unto trouble, as the sparks fly upward.
sino el hombre nace para la aflicción, como las chispas salen hacia arriba.
8 But as for me, I would seek unto God, and unto God would I commit my cause;
Ciertamente yo buscaría a ʼElohim y encomendaría a Él mi causa,
9 Who doeth great things and unsearchable, marvellous things without number;
Quien hace cosas grandes e inescrutables, maravillas incontables.
10 Who giveth rain upon the earth, and sendeth waters upon the fields;
Él da la lluvia a la tierra y envía el agua sobre la superficie de los campos.
11 So that He setteth up on high those that are low, and those that mourn are exalted to safety.
Él exalta a los humildes y levanta a los enlutados a la seguridad.
12 He frustrateth the devices of the crafty, so that their hands can perform nothing substantial.
Frustra los pensamientos de los astutos para que nada hagan sus manos y
13 He taketh the wise in their own craftiness; and the counsel of the wily is carried headlong.
atrapa a los sabios en su astucia. Frustra los designios del perverso.
14 They meet with darkness in the day-time, and grope at noonday as in the night.
Tropiezan de día con la oscuridad y a mediodía andan a tientas como de noche.
15 But He saveth from the sword of their mouth, even the needy from the hand of the mighty.
Así libra al pobre de la espada, de la boca de los poderosos y de su mano.
16 So the poor hath hope, and iniquity stoppeth her mouth.
El necesitado conserva la esperanza. La perversidad cierra su boca.
17 Behold, happy is the man whom God correcteth; therefore despise not thou the chastening of the Almighty.
Dichoso el hombre a quien ʼElohim disciplina. No menosprecies la corrección de ʼEL-Shadday,
18 For He maketh sore, and bindeth up; He woundeth, and His hands make whole.
porque Él hace la herida, pero también la venda. Hiere, pero sus manos sanan.
19 He will deliver thee in six troubles; yea, in seven there shall no evil touch thee.
Te librará de seis tribulaciones, y aun en la séptima no te tocará el mal.
20 In famine He will redeem thee from death; and in war from the power of the sword.
Durante la hambruna te librará de la muerte, y del poder de la espada en la guerra.
21 Thou shalt be hid from the scourge of the tongue; neither shalt thou be afraid of destruction when it cometh.
Estarás escondido del azote de la lengua, y no temerás cuando venga la destrucción.
22 At destruction and famine thou shalt laugh; neither shalt thou be afraid of the beasts of the earth.
Te reirás de la destrucción y de la hambruna y no temerás a las fieras del campo,
23 For thou shalt be in league with the stones of the field; and the beasts of the field shall be at peace with thee.
pues aun con las piedras del campo harás pacto, y las bestias del campo tendrán paz contigo.
24 And thou shalt know that thy tent is in peace; and thou shalt visit thy habitation, and shalt miss nothing.
Sabrás que hay paz en tu tienda. Nada te faltará cuando revises tu morada.
25 Thou shalt know also that thy seed shall be great, and thine offspring as the grass of the earth.
Verás también que tu descendencia es numerosa y tu prole como la hierba de la tierra.
26 Thou shalt come to thy grave in a ripe age, like as a shock of corn cometh in in its season.
Irás a la tumba en la vejez, como la gavilla de trigo que se recoge a su tiempo.
27 Lo this, we have searched it, so it is; hear it, and know thou it for thy good.
Mira que esto lo investigamos, es así. Óyelo, y conócelo por ti mismo.
