1 Canst thou draw out leviathan with a fish-hook? or press down his tongue with a cord?
१तुला लिव्याथानाला गळ टाकून पकडता येईल का? तुला त्याची जीभ दोरीने बांधता येईल का?
2 Canst thou put a ring into his nose? or bore his jaw through with a hook?
२तुला लिव्याथानाच्या नाकातून दोरी घालून त्यास वेसण घालता येईल का? किंवा त्याच्या जबड्यात गळ घालता येईल का?
3 Will he make many supplications unto thee? or will he speak soft words unto thee?
३लिव्याथान तुझ्याकडे सोडून देण्यासाठी याचना करील का? तो तुझ्याशी मृदू शब्दात बोलेल का?
4 Will he make a covenant with thee, that thou shouldest take him for a servant for ever?
४लिव्याथान तुझ्याशी करार करून जन्मभर तुझा दास होऊन राहील का?
5 Wilt thou play with him as with a bird? Or wilt thou bind him for thy maidens?
५तू पक्ष्याशी जसा खेळशील तसा लिव्याथानाशी खेळशील का? तू त्यास दोरीने बांधशील का? तुझ्या मुली त्याच्याशी खेळू शकतील काय?
6 Will the bands of fishermen make a banquet of him? Will they part him among the merchants?
६मच्छीमार तुझ्याकडून लिव्याथानाला विकत घेण्याचा प्रयत्न करतील का? ते त्याचे तुकडे करून ते व्यापाऱ्यांना विकण्याचा प्रयत्न करतील का?
7 Canst thou fill his skin with barbed irons? or his head with fish-spears?
७तू लिव्याथानाच्या कातडीत किंवा डोक्यात बरच्या फेकशील का?
8 Lay thy hand upon him; think upon the battle, thou wilt do so no more.
८तू एकदा का लिव्याथानावर हात टाकलास तर पुन्हा तसे कधी करु शकणार नाहीस. ती कशा प्रकारची लढाई असेल याचा एकदा विचार कर.
9 Behold, the hope of him is in vain; shall not one be cast down even at the sight of him?
९तू लिव्याथानाचा पराभव करु शकशील असे तुला वाटत असेल तर ते विसरून जा. तशा आशेला जागाच नाही. त्याच्याकडे नजर टाकताच तुझी भीतीने गाळण उडेल.
10 None is so fierce that dare stir him up; who then is able to stand before Me?
१०एकही मनुष्य त्यास जागे करून त्याचा राग ओढवून घेण्याइतका शूर नाही. “माझ्याविरुध्द उभा राहणाराही कोणी नाही.
11 Who hath given Me anything beforehand, that I should repay him? Whatsoever is under the whole heaven is Mine.
११मला कोणी काही प्रथम दिले नाही म्हणून मी त्यांची परत फेड करू? या नभोमंडळाखाली जे जे आहे ते सर्व माझे आहे.
12 Would I keep silence concerning his boastings, or his proud talk, or his fair array of words?
१२मी तुला लिव्याथानाच्या पायांविषयी, त्याच्या शक्तीविषयी आणि त्याच्या ऐटदार बांध्याविषयी सांगेन.
13 Who can uncover the face of his garment? Who shall come within his double bridle?
१३कोणीही त्याची कातडी छेदू शकत नाही. त्याची जबड्यांत कोणाला शिरता येईल?
14 Who can open the doors of his face? Round about his teeth is terror.
१४लिव्याथानाला त्याचा जबडा उघडायला कोणीही भाग पाडू शकत नाही. त्याच्या तोंडातल्या दातांची लोकांस भीती वाटते.
15 His scales are his pride, shut up together as with a close seal.
१५लिव्याथानाच्या पाठीवर ढालीसारख्या खवल्यांच्या रांगा एकमेकांना चिकटून आहेत.
16 One is so near to another, that no air can come between them.
१६ते खवले एकमेकांना इतके चिकटले आहेत की त्यातून हवासुध्दा जाऊ शकत नाही.
17 They are joined one to another; they stick together, that they cannot be sundered.
१७त्याचे खवले एकमेकांशी घटृ बांधलेले आहेत. ते एकमेकांशी इतके घटृ बांधलेले आहेत की कोणी ते ओढून वेगळे करु शकत नाही.
18 His sneezings flash forth light, and his eyes are like the eyelids of the morning.
१८लिव्याथान जेव्हा शिंकतो तेव्हा वीज चमकल्यासारखी वाटते. त्याचे डोळे पहाटेच्या प्रकाशासारखे चमकतात.
19 Out of his mouth go burning torches, and sparks of fire leap forth.
१९त्याच्या तोंडातून आगीचे लोळ बाहेर पडतात. आगीच्या ठिणग्या निघतात.
20 Out of his nostrils goeth smoke, as out of a seething pot and burning rushes.
२०उकळत्या भांड्याखाली ठेवलेल्या जळत्या लव्हाळ्यातून निघतो तसा धूर त्याच्या नाकातून येतो.
21 His breath kindleth coals, and a flame goeth out of his mouth.
२१लिव्याथानाच्या श्वासांनी कोळसे पेटतात आणि त्याच्या तोंडातून ज्वाला बाहेर पडतात.
22 In his neck abideth strength, and dismay danceth before him.
२२लिव्याथानाची मान मजबूत आहे. लोक त्यास घाबरतात आणि त्याच्यापासून दूर पळत सुटतात.
23 The flakes of his flesh are joined together; they are firm upon him; they cannot be moved.
२३त्याच्या कातडीवर एकही मऊ भाग नाही ती लोखंडासाखी कठीण आहे.
24 His heart is as firm as a stone; yea, firm as the nether millstone.
२४लिव्याथानाचे हृदय पाषाणासारखे आहे. त्यास भीती वाटत नाही ते पाट्यासारखे आहे. जात्याच्या खालच्या तळीसारखे ते आहे.
25 When he raiseth himself up, the mighty are afraid; by reason of despair they are beside themselves.
२५लिव्याथान उठून उभा राहिला की शूर वीरही घाबरतात लिव्याथानाने त्यांची शेपटी हलवली की ते पळून जातात.
26 If one lay at him with the sword, it will not hold; nor the spear, the dart, nor the pointed shaft.
२६तलवारी, भाले आणि तीर त्याच्यावर फेकले तरी ते त्यास न लागता परत येतात. त्या शस्त्रांनी त्यास काहीही इजा होत नाही.
27 He esteemeth iron as straw, and brass as rotten wood.
२७तो लोखाडास गवताच्या काडीसारखे मोडू शकतो कुजलेले लाकूड जसे पटकन मोडते तसे तो पितळ मोडतो.
28 The arrow cannot make him flee; slingstones are turned with him into stubble.
२८तो बाणांना घाबरुन पळून जात नाही वाळलेल्या गवताप्रमाणे दगड त्याच्यावर आपटून परत येतात.
29 Clubs are accounted as stubble; he laugheth at the rattling of the javelin.
२९जेव्हा लाकडी गदा त्याच्यावर आपटली जाते तेव्हा त्यास ते गवत आपटल्याप्रमाणे वाटते. लोक त्याच्यावर भाले फेकतात तेव्हा तो हसतो.
30 Sharpest potsherds are under him; he spreadeth a threshing-sledge upon the mire.
३०लिव्याथानाच्या शरीरावरची कातडी तीक्ष्ण, टणक खापरासाखी आहे. तो चिखलात कुळक फिरवल्याप्रमाणे तास पाडतो.
31 He maketh the deep to boil like a pot; he maketh the sea like a seething mixture.
३१लिव्याथान पाण्याला उकळी आल्याप्रमाणे हलवतो. तो त्यास उकळत्या तेलाच्या भांड्याप्रमाणे तो त्यावर बुडबुडे आणतो.
32 He maketh a path to shine after him; one would think the deep to be hoary.
३२लिव्याथान पोहतो तेव्हा तो आपल्यामागे मार्ग तयार करतो. तो पाणी ढवळून टाकतो आणि आपल्यामागे पांढरा फेस ठेवतो.
33 Upon earth there is not his like, who is made to be fearless.
३३पृथ्वीवरचा एकही पशू लिव्याथानासारखा नाही. तो एक भीतिविरहित प्राणी आहे.
34 He looketh at all high things; he is king over all the proud beasts.
३४लिव्याथान गर्विष्ठ प्राण्याला कमी (तुच्छ) लेखतो तो सगळ्या रानटी श्वापदांचा राजा आहे. आणि मी, परमेश्वराने त्यास निर्माण केले आहे.”
