Job 40
1 Moreover the LORD answered Job, and said:
Und der HERR antwortete Hiob und sprach:
2 Shall he that reproveth contend with the Almighty? He that argueth with God, let him answer it.
Wer mit dem Allmächtigen hadern will, soll's ihm der nicht beibringen? Und wer Gott tadelt, soll's der nicht verantworten?
3 Then Job answered the LORD, and said:
Hiob aber antwortete dem HERRN und sprach:
4 Behold, I am of small account; what shall I answer Thee? I lay my hand upon my mouth.
Siehe, ich bin zu leichtfertig gewesen, was soll ich antworten? Ich will meine Hand auf meinen Mund legen.
5 Once have I spoken, but I will not answer again; yea, twice, but I will proceed no further.
Ich habe einmal geredet, darum will ich nicht mehr antworten; hernach will ich's nicht mehr tun.
6 Then the LORD answered Job out of the whirlwind, and said:
Und der HERR antwortete Hiob aus einem Wetter und sprach:
7 Gird up thy loins now like a man; I will demand of thee, and declare thou unto Me.
Gürte wie ein Mann deine Lenden; ich will dich fragen, lehre mich!
8 Wilt thou even make void My judgment? Wilt thou condemn Me, that thou mayest be justified?
Solltest du mein Urteil zunichte machen und mich verdammen, daß du gerecht seiest?
9 Or hast thou an arm like God? And canst thou thunder with a voice like Him?
Hast du einen Arm wie Gott und kannst mit gleicher Stimme donnern, als er tut?
10 Deck thyself now with majesty and excellency, and array thyself with glory and beauty.
Schmücke dich mit Pracht und erhebe dich; zeuch dich löblich und herrlich an!
11 Cast abroad the rage of thy wrath; and look upon every one that is proud, and abase him.
Streue aus den Zorn deines Grimms; schaue an die Hochmütigen, wo sie sind, und demütige sie.
12 Look on every one that is proud, and bring him low; and tread down the wicked in their place.
Ja, schaue die Hochmütigen, wo sie sind, und beuge sie und mache die Gottlosen dünne, wo sie sind.
13 Hide them in the dust together; bind their faces in the hidden place.
Verscharre sie miteinander in der Erde und versenke ihre Pracht ins Verborgene,
14 Then will I also confess unto thee that thine own right hand can save thee.
so will ich dir auch bekennen, daß dir deine rechte Hand helfen kann.
15 Behold now behemoth, which I made with thee; he eateth grass as an ox.
Siehe, der Behemoth, den ich neben dir gemacht habe, frißt Heu wie ein Ochse.
16 Lo now, his strength is in his loins, and his force is in the stays of his body.
Siehe, seine Kraft ist in seinen Lenden und sein Vermögen im Nabel seines Bauchs.
17 He straineth his tail like a cedar; the sinews of his thighs are knit together.
Sein Schwanz strecket sich wie eine Zeder, die Adern seiner Scham starren wie ein Ast.
18 His bones are as pipes of brass; his gristles are like bars of iron.
Seine Knochen sind wie fest Erz, seine Gebeine sind wie eiserne Stäbe.
19 He is the beginning of the ways of God; He only that made him can make His sword to approach unto him.
Er ist der Anfang der Wege Gottes; der ihn gemacht hat, der greift ihn an mit seinem Schwert.
20 Surely the mountains bring him forth food, and all the beasts of the field play there.
Die Berge tragen ihm Kräuter, und alle wilden Tiere spielen daselbst.
21 He lieth under the lotus-trees, in the covert of the reed, and fens.
Er liegt gern im Schatten, im Rohr und im Schlamm verborgen.
22 The lotus-trees cover him with their shadow; the willows of the brook compass him about.
Das Gebüsch bedeckt ihn mit seinem Schatten, und die Bachweiden bedecken ihn.
23 Behold, if a river overflow, he trembleth not; he is confident, though the Jordan rush forth to his mouth.
Siehe, er schluckt in sich den Strom und achtet es nicht groß; läßt sich dünken, er wolle den Jordan mit seinem Munde ausschöpfen.
24 Shall any take him by his eyes, or pierce through his nose with a snare?
Noch fähet man ihn mit seinen eigenen Augen, und durch Fallstricke durchbohret man ihm seine Nase.
