Job 35
1 Moreover Elihu answered and said:
Tovább is felele Elihu, és monda:
2 Thinkest thou this to be thy right, or sayest thou: 'I am righteousness before God',
Azt gondolod-é igaznak, ha így szólsz: Az én igazságom nagyobb, mint Istené?
3 That thou inquirest: 'What advantage will it be unto Thee?' And: 'What profit shall I have, more than if I had sinned?'
Hogyha ezt mondod: Mi hasznod belőle? Mivel várhatok többet, mintha vétkezném?
4 I will give thee answer, and thy companions with thee.
Én megadom rá néked a feleletet, és barátaidnak te veled együtt.
5 Look unto the heavens, and see; and behold the skies, which are higher than thou.
Tekints az égre és lásd meg; és nézd meg a fellegeket, milyen magasan vannak feletted!
6 If thou hast sinned, what doest thou against Him? And if thy transgressions be multiplied, what doest thou unto Him?
Hogyha vétkezel, mit tehetsz ellene; ha megsokasítod bűneidet, mit ártasz néki?
7 If thou be righteous, what givest thou Him? Or what receiveth He of thy hand?
Ha igaz vagy, mit adsz néki, avagy mit kap a te kezedből?
8 Thy wickedness concerneth a man as thou art; and thy righteousness a son of man.
Az olyan embernek árt a te gonoszságod, mint te vagy, és igazságod az ilyen ember fiának használ.
9 By reason of the multitude of oppressions they cry out; they cry for help by reason of the arm of the mighty.
A sok erőszak miatt kiáltoznak; jajgatnak a hatalmasok karja miatt;
10 But none saith: 'Where is God my Maker, who giveth songs in the night;
De egy sem mondja: Hol van Isten, az én teremtőm, a ki hálaénekre indít éjszaka;
11 Who teacheth us more than the beasts of the earth, and maketh us wiser than the fowls of heaven?'
A ki többre tanít minket a mezei vadaknál, és bölcsebbekké tesz az ég madarainál?
12 There they cry, but none giveth answer, because of the pride of evil men.
Akkor azután kiálthatnak, de ő nem felel a gonoszok kevélysége miatt;
13 Surely God will not hear vanity, neither will the Almighty regard it.
Mert a hiábavalóságot Isten meg nem hallgatja, a Mindenható arra nem tekint.
14 Yea, when thou sayest thou canst not see Him — the cause is before Him; therefore wait thou for Him.
Hátha még azt mondod: Te nem látod őt; az ügy előtte van és te reá vársz!
15 And now, is it for nought that He punished in His anger? And hath He not full knowledge of arrogance?
Most pedig, mivel nem büntet haragja, és nem figyelmez a nagy álnokságra:
16 But Job doth open his mouth in vanity; he multiplieth words without knowledge.
Azért tátja fel Jób hívságra a száját, és szaporítja a szót értelem nélkül.
