Job 28
1 For there is a mine for silver, and a place for gold which they refine.
“Certamente existe uma mina de prata, e um lugar para o ouro, que eles refinam.
2 Iron is taken out of the dust, and brass is molten out of the stone.
O ferro é retirado da terra, e o cobre é fundido a partir do minério.
3 Man setteth an end to darkness, and searcheth out to the furthest bound the stones of thick darkness and of the shadow of death.
O homem põe um fim à escuridão, e busca, até o limite mais distante, as pedras da obscuridade e da escuridão espessa.
4 He breaketh open a shaft away from where men sojourn; they are forgotten of the foot that passeth by; they hang afar from men, they swing to and fro.
Ele quebra um eixo a partir de onde as pessoas vivem. Eles são esquecidos pelo pé. Eles ficam longe dos homens, eles balançam para frente e para trás.
5 As for the earth, out of it cometh bread, and underneath it is turned up as it were by fire.
Quanto à terra, dela sai o pão. Debaixo dele é aparecido como se fosse por fogo.
6 The stones thereof are the place of sapphires, and it hath dust of gold.
As safiras vêm de suas rochas. Tem pó de ouro.
7 That path no bird of prey knoweth, neither hath the falcon's eye seen it;
Esse caminho que nenhuma ave de rapina conhece, nem o olho do falcão o viu.
8 The proud beasts have not trodden it, nor hath the lion passed thereby.
Os animais orgulhosos não a pisaram, nem o leão feroz passou por lá.
9 He putteth forth his hand upon the flinty rock; He overturneth the mountains by the roots.
Ele coloca a mão na pedra frágil, e ele derruba as montanhas pelas raízes.
10 He cutteth out channels among the rocks; and his eye seeth every precious thing.
Ele corta canais entre as rochas. Seu olho vê cada coisa preciosa.
11 He bindeth the streams that they trickle not; and the thing that is hid bringeth he forth to light.
Ele liga os riachos que eles não gotejam. A coisa que está escondida ele traz à luz.
12 But wisdom, where shall it be found? And where is the place of understanding?
“Mas onde será encontrada a sabedoria? Onde está o lugar do entendimento?
13 Man knoweth not the price thereof; neither is it found in the land of the living.
O homem não sabe seu preço, e não é encontrada na terra dos vivos.
14 The deep saith: 'It is not in me'; and the sea saith: 'It is not with me.'
O fundo diz: 'Não está em mim'. O mar diz: “Não está comigo”.
15 It cannot be gotten for gold, neither shall silver be weighed for the price thereof.
Não pode ser comprado por ouro, nem a prata será pesada por seu preço.
16 It cannot be valued with the gold of Ophir, with the precious onyx, or the sapphire.
Não pode ser valorizado com o ouro de Ophir, com o precioso ônix, ou a safira.
17 Gold and glass cannot equal it; neither shall the exchange thereof be vessels of fine gold.
Ouro e vidro não podem ser iguais, nem será trocado por jóias de ouro fino.
18 No mention shall be made of coral or of crystal; yea, the price of wisdom is above rubies.
Nenhuma menção será feita ao coral ou ao cristal. Sim, o preço da sabedoria está acima dos rubis.
19 The topaz of Ethiopia shall not equal it, neither shall it be valued with pure gold.
O topázio da Etiópia não se igualará a ele. Não será valorizado com ouro puro.
20 Whence then cometh wisdom? And where is the place of understanding?
De onde vem então a sabedoria? Onde está o lugar do entendimento?
21 Seeing it is hid from the eyes of all living, and kept close from the fowls of the air.
Seeing está escondido dos olhos de todos os vivos, e mantido perto dos pássaros do céu.
22 Destruction and Death say: 'We have heard a rumor thereof with our ears.'
Destruição e Morte dizem, “Ouvimos um rumor com nossos ouvidos”.
23 God understandeth the way thereof, and He knoweth the place thereof.
“Deus entende seu caminho, e ele conhece seu lugar.
24 For He looketh to the ends of the earth, and seeth under the whole heaven;
Pois ele olha para os confins da terra, e vê sob todo o céu.
25 When He maketh a weight for the wind, and meteth out the waters by measure.
Ele estabelece a força do vento. Sim, ele mede as águas por medida.
26 When He made a decree for the rain, and a way for the storm of thunders;
Quando ele fez um decreto para a chuva, e um caminho para o relâmpago do trovão,
27 Then did He see it, and declare it; He established it, yea, and searched it out.
então ele o viu, e o declarou. Ele o estabeleceu, sim, e o pesquisou.
28 And unto man He said: 'Behold, the fear of the Lord, that is wisdom; and to depart from evil is understanding.'
Ao homem, disse ele, Eis o temor do Senhor, que é sabedoria”. Partir do mal é compreender'”.
