Job 24
1 Why are times not laid up by the Almighty? And why do not they that know Him see His days?
¿Por qué no son ocultos los tiempos al Todopoderoso, pues los que le conocen no ven sus días?
2 There are that remove the landmarks; they violently take away flocks, and feed them.
Toman los términos, roban los ganados, y los apacientan.
3 They drive away the ass of the fatherless, they take the widow's ox for a pledge.
Llévanse el asno de los huérfanos, prendan el buey de la viuda.
4 They turn the needy out of the way; the poor of the earth hide themselves together.
Hacen apartar del camino a los pobres, y todos los pobres de la tierra se esconden.
5 Behold, as wild asses in the wilderness they go forth to their work, seeking diligently for food; the desert yieldeth them bread for their children.
He aquí, que como asnos monteses en el desierto salen a su obra madrugando para robar; el desierto es su mantenimiento, y de sus hijos.
6 They cut his provender in the field; and they despoil the vineyard of the wicked.
En el campo siegan su pasto, y los impíos vendimian la viña.
7 They lie all night naked without clothing, and have no covering in the cold.
Al desnudo hacen dormir sin ropa, y que en el frío no tenga cobertura.
8 They are wet with the showers of the mountains, and embrace the rock for want of a shelter.
De la inundación de los montes fueron humedecidos; y abrazaron las peñas sin tener en que cubrirse.
9 There are that pluck the fatherless from the breast, and take a pledge of the poor;
Al huérfano del pecho roban, y de sobre el pobre toman la prenda.
10 So that they go about naked without clothing, and being hungry they carry the sheaves;
Al desnudo hacen andar sin vestido, y a los hambrientos quitan los manojos.
11 They make oil within the rows of these men; they tread their winepresses, and suffer thirst.
De dentro de sus paredes exprimen el aceite, pisan los lagares, y mueren de sed.
12 From out of the populous city men groan, and the soul of the wounded crieth out; yet God imputeth it not for unseemliness.
De la ciudad claman los hombres, y las almas de los muertos dan voces, y Dios no puso estorbo.
13 These are of them that rebel against the light; they know not the ways thereof, nor abide in the paths thereof.
Ellos son los que son rebeldes a la luz: nunca conocieron sus caminos, ni estuvieron en sus veredas.
14 The murderer riseth with the light, to kill the poor and needy; and in the night he is as a thief.
A la luz se levanta el matador: mata al pobre y al necesitado, y de noche es como ladrón.
15 The eye also of the adulterer waiteth for the twilight, saying: 'No eye shall see me'; and he putteth a covering on his face.
El ojo del adúltero está aguardando la noche, diciendo: No me verá nadie, y esconderá su rostro.
16 In the dark they dig through houses; they shut themselves up in the day-time; they know not the light.
En las tinieblas minan las casas, que de día se señalaron: no conocen la luz.
17 For the shadow of death is to all of them as the morning; for they know the terrors of the shadow of death.
Porque a todos ellos la mañana les es como sombra de muerte: si son conocidos, terrores de sombra de muerte los toman.
18 He is swift upon the face of the waters; their portion is cursed in the earth; he turneth not by the way of the vineyards.
Son livianos sobre las aguas: su porción es maldita en la tierra. Nunca vienen por el camino de las viñas.
19 Drought and heat consume the snow waters; so doth the nether-world those that have sinned. (Sheol h7585)
La sequedad, y también el calor roban las aguas de la nieve; y el sepulcro a los pecadores. (Sheol h7585)
20 The womb forgetteth him; the worm feedeth sweetly on him; he shall be no more remembered; and unrighteousness is broken as a tree.
El misericordioso se olvidará de ellos, los gusanos sentirán dulzura de ellos: nunca más habrá de ellos memoria; y como un árbol será quebrantada la iniquidad.
21 He devoureth the barren that beareth not; and doeth not good to the widow.
A la mujer estéril que no paría, afligió: y a la viuda nunca hizo bien.
22 He draweth away the mighty also by his power; he riseth up, and he trusteth not his own life.
Mas a los violentos adelantó con su poder: levantóse, y no fió a nadie en la vida.
23 Though it be given him to be in safety, whereon he resteth, yet His eyes are upon their ways.
Si algunos le dieron a crédito, y se afirmó en ellos; sus ojos tuvo puestos sobre los caminos de ellos.
24 They are exalted for a little while, and they are gone; yea, they are brought low, they are gathered in as all others, and wither as the tops of the ears of corn.
Fueron enaltecidos por un poco, y desaparecieron, y son abatidos como cada cual: serán encerrados, y cortados como cabezas de espigas.
25 And if it be not so now, who will prove me a liar, and make my speech nothing worth?
Y si no es así, ¿quién me desmentirá ahora, o tornará en nada mis palabras?
