Job 24
1 Why are times not laid up by the Almighty? And why do not they that know Him see His days?
Por que os tempos não são marcados pelo Todo-Poderoso? Por que os que o conhecem não veem seus dias?
2 There are that remove the landmarks; they violently take away flocks, and feed them.
Há os que mudam os limites de lugar, roubam rebanhos, e os apascentam.
3 They drive away the ass of the fatherless, they take the widow's ox for a pledge.
Levam o asno do órfão; penhoram o boi da viúva.
4 They turn the needy out of the way; the poor of the earth hide themselves together.
Desviam do caminho aos necessitados; os pobres da terra juntos se escondem.
5 Behold, as wild asses in the wilderness they go forth to their work, seeking diligently for food; the desert yieldeth them bread for their children.
Eis que como asnos selvagens no deserto eles saem a seu trabalho buscando insistentemente por comida; o deserto dá alimento a ele [e a seus] filhos.
6 They cut his provender in the field; and they despoil the vineyard of the wicked.
No campo colhem sua forragem, e vindimam a vinha do perverso.
7 They lie all night naked without clothing, and have no covering in the cold.
Passam a noite nus, por falta de roupa; sem terem coberta contra o frio.
8 They are wet with the showers of the mountains, and embrace the rock for want of a shelter.
Pelas correntes das montanhas são molhados e, não tendo abrigo, abraçam-se às rochas.
9 There are that pluck the fatherless from the breast, and take a pledge of the poor;
[Há os que] arrancam ao órfão do peito, e do pobre tomam penhor.
10 So that they go about naked without clothing, and being hungry they carry the sheaves;
Ao nus fazem andar sem vestes, e fazem os famintos carregarem feixes.
11 They make oil within the rows of these men; they tread their winepresses, and suffer thirst.
Entre suas paredes espremem o azeite; pisam nas prensas de uvas, e [ainda] têm sede.
12 From out of the populous city men groan, and the soul of the wounded crieth out; yet God imputeth it not for unseemliness.
Desde a cidade as pessoas gemem, e as almas dos feridos clamam; Mas Deus não dá atenção ao erro.
13 These are of them that rebel against the light; they know not the ways thereof, nor abide in the paths thereof.
Há os que se opõem à luz; não conhecem seus caminhos, nem permanecem em suas veredas.
14 The murderer riseth with the light, to kill the poor and needy; and in the night he is as a thief.
De manhã o homicida se levanta, mata ao pobre e ao necessitado, e de noite ele age como ladrão.
15 The eye also of the adulterer waiteth for the twilight, saying: 'No eye shall see me'; and he putteth a covering on his face.
O olho do adúltero aguarda o crepúsculo, dizendo: Olho nenhum me verá; E esconde seu rosto.
16 In the dark they dig through houses; they shut themselves up in the day-time; they know not the light.
Nas trevas vasculham as casas, de dia eles se trancam; não conhecem a luz.
17 For the shadow of death is to all of them as the morning; for they know the terrors of the shadow of death.
Porque a manhã é para todos eles como sombra de morte; pois são conhecidos dos pavores de sombra de morte.
18 He is swift upon the face of the waters; their portion is cursed in the earth; he turneth not by the way of the vineyards.
Ele é ligeiro sobre a superfície das águas; maldita é sua porção sobre a terra; não se vira para o caminho das vinhas.
19 Drought and heat consume the snow waters; so doth the nether-world those that have sinned. (Sheol h7585)
A seca e o calor desfazem as águas da neve; assim [faz] o Xeol aos que pecaram. (Sheol h7585)
20 The womb forgetteth him; the worm feedeth sweetly on him; he shall be no more remembered; and unrighteousness is broken as a tree.
A mãe se esquecerá dele; doce será para os vermes; nunca mais haverá memória [dele], e a perversidade será quebrada como um árvore.
21 He devoureth the barren that beareth not; and doeth not good to the widow.
Aflige à mulher estéril, [que] não dá à luz; e nenhum bem faz à viúva.
22 He draweth away the mighty also by his power; he riseth up, and he trusteth not his own life.
Mas [Deus] arranca aos poderosos com seu poder; [quando] Deus se levanta, não há vida segura.
23 Though it be given him to be in safety, whereon he resteth, yet His eyes are upon their ways.
Se ele lhes dá descanso, nisso confiam; [mas] os olhos de [Deus] estão [postos] nos caminhos deles.
24 They are exalted for a little while, and they are gone; yea, they are brought low, they are gathered in as all others, and wither as the tops of the ears of corn.
São exaltados por um pouco [de tempo], mas [logo] desaparecem; são abatidos, encerrados como todos, e cortados como cabeças das espigas.
25 And if it be not so now, who will prove me a liar, and make my speech nothing worth?
Se não é assim, quem me desmentirá, ou anulará minhas palavras?
