Job 24
1 Why are times not laid up by the Almighty? And why do not they that know Him see His days?
"Warum sind vom Allmächtigen die Zeiten nimmer eingehalten? Denn seine Tage haben seine Gläubigen niemals erlebt.
2 There are that remove the landmarks; they violently take away flocks, and feed them.
Man rückt die Grenzen, raubt die Herden und treibt sie offen auf die Weide.
3 They drive away the ass of the fatherless, they take the widow's ox for a pledge.
Der Waisen Esel treibt man fort und nimmt der Witwe Rind zum Pfande.
4 They turn the needy out of the way; the poor of the earth hide themselves together.
Die Armen stößt man von dem Wege; die Elenden im Lande müssen sich zumal verstecken.
5 Behold, as wild asses in the wilderness they go forth to their work, seeking diligently for food; the desert yieldeth them bread for their children.
Gleich wilden Eseln müssen sie durch jener Schuld die Zehrung in der Steppe suchen und Brot daselbst für ihre Kinder holen.
6 They cut his provender in the field; and they despoil the vineyard of the wicked.
Auf dem Felde eines Bösewichtes müssen sie als Schnitter schaffen, im Weinberg eines Frevlers Lese halten.
7 They lie all night naked without clothing, and have no covering in the cold.
Bei Nacht liegen sie nackt, der Kleidung bar, und bar der Hülle in der Kälte.
8 They are wet with the showers of the mountains, and embrace the rock for want of a shelter.
Vom Regenguß auf Bergen triefen sie und schmiegen obdachlos sich an den Fels.
9 There are that pluck the fatherless from the breast, and take a pledge of the poor;
Man raubt die Waise von der Mutter Brust und pfändet des Bedrückten Kinder.
10 So that they go about naked without clothing, and being hungry they carry the sheaves;
Die gehen nackt einher, der Kleider bar, und schleppen hungernd Garben.
11 They make oil within the rows of these men; they tread their winepresses, and suffer thirst.
Sie keltern zwischen Gruben Öl und müssen dürsten, wenn sie Keltern treten.
12 From out of the populous city men groan, and the soul of the wounded crieth out; yet God imputeth it not for unseemliness.
Sie stöhnen unter Sklavenangst; um Hilfe schreien diese Opfer; doch Gott zeigt keine Gunst.
13 These are of them that rebel against the light; they know not the ways thereof, nor abide in the paths thereof.
Und jene sind's doch, die das Licht verachten und seine Pfade nimmer kennen noch seine Wege je betreten.
14 The murderer riseth with the light, to kill the poor and needy; and in the night he is as a thief.
Beim Morgengrauen steht der Mörder auf; er tötet Friedliche und Arme, und in der Nacht schleicht hin der Dieb.
15 The eye also of the adulterer waiteth for the twilight, saying: 'No eye shall see me'; and he putteth a covering on his face.
Des Ehebrechers Auge lauert auf die Dämmerung; kein Auge, denkt er, wird mich sehen, und legt sich eine Hülle vors Gesicht.
16 In the dark they dig through houses; they shut themselves up in the day-time; they know not the light.
Er dringt im Finstern in die Häuser ein. - Bei Tage fürchten sie sich sehr und wollen von dem Licht nichts wissen;
17 For the shadow of death is to all of them as the morning; for they know the terrors of the shadow of death.
denn ihnen allen ist ein Graus der Morgen, der Augenblick ein Höllenschrecken, wo man sie kennen kann.
18 He is swift upon the face of the waters; their portion is cursed in the earth; he turneth not by the way of the vineyards.
Er schwebet leichthin über den Gewässern. 'Verflucht wird ihr Besitz auf Erden.' Er gibt nicht auf den Weg der Sünder acht.
19 Drought and heat consume the snow waters; so doth the nether-world those that have sinned. (Sheol h7585)
Die Dürre und die Hitze nehmen Schneegewässer fort, die Unterwelt die, so gesündigt haben. (Sheol h7585)
20 The womb forgetteth him; the worm feedeth sweetly on him; he shall be no more remembered; and unrighteousness is broken as a tree.
Mitleid vergißt ihn. Gewürm labt sich an ihm, und man gedenkt nicht seiner mehr. Zerschmettert wie ein Baum so wird der Frevler.
21 He devoureth the barren that beareth not; and doeth not good to the widow.
Er gibt der Unfruchtbaren, Kinderlosen Hab und Gut; den Witwen aber tut er nimmer Gutes.
22 He draweth away the mighty also by his power; he riseth up, and he trusteth not his own life.
Lang leben läßt er Mächtige durch seine Macht. Da gibt es einen, deran den Lebenden nicht glaubt,
23 Though it be given him to be in safety, whereon he resteth, yet His eyes are upon their ways.
und doch gibt er ihm Sicherheit, auf die er sich verlassen kann. Doch seine Augen wachen über solcher Wege.
24 They are exalted for a little while, and they are gone; yea, they are brought low, they are gathered in as all others, and wither as the tops of the ears of corn.
Hoch stehn sie da. Nur eine kleine Zeit, sie sind nicht mehr. Sie sinken hin, wie alle anderen sterbend. Gleichwie die besten Ähren, also sind sie voll.
25 And if it be not so now, who will prove me a liar, and make my speech nothing worth?
Wenn's nicht so ist, wer straft mich Lügen und macht mein Wort zunichte?"
