Job 23
1 Then Job answered and said:
Respondeu porém Job, e disse:
2 Even to-day is my complaint bitter; my hand is become heavy because of my groaning.
Ainda hoje a minha queixa está em amargura: a violência da minha praga mais se agrava do que o meu gemido.
3 Oh that I knew where I might find Him, that I might come even to His seat!
Ah se eu soubesse que o poderia achar! então me chegaria ao seu tribunal.
4 I would order my cause before Him, and fill my mouth with arguments.
Com boa ordem exporia ante ele a minha causa, e a minha boca encheria de argumentos.
5 I would know the words which He would answer me, and understand what He would say unto me.
Saberia as palavras com que ele me responderia, e entenderia o que me dissesse.
6 Would He contend with me in His great power? Nay; but He would give heed unto me.
Porventura segundo a grandeza de seu poder contenderia comigo? não; ele só o põe em mim.
7 There the upright might reason with Him; so should I be delivered for ever from my Judge.
Ali o reto pleitearia com ele, e eu me livraria para sempre do meu Juiz.
8 Behold, I go forward, but He is not there, and backward, but I cannot perceive Him;
Eis que se me adianto, ali não está: se torno para traz, não o percebo.
9 On the left hand, when He doth work, but I cannot behold Him, He turneth Himself to the right hand, but I cannot see Him.
Se obra a mão esquerda, não o vejo: se se encobre à mão direita, não o diviso.
10 For He knoweth the way that I take; when He hath tried me, I shall come forth as gold.
Porém ele sabe o meu caminho: prove-me, e sairei como o ouro.
11 My foot hath held fast to His steps, His way have I kept, and turned not aside.
Nas suas pizadas os meus pés se afirmaram: guardei o seu caminho, e não me desviei dele.
12 I have not gone back from the commandment of His lips; I have treasured up the words of His mouth more than my necessary food.
Do preceito de seus lábios nunca me apartei, e as palavras da sua boca guardei mais do que a minha porção.
13 But He is at one with Himself, and who can turn Him? And what His soul desireth, even that He doeth.
Mas, se ele está contra alguém, quem então o desviará? o que a sua alma quizer isso fará.
14 For He will perform that which is appointed for me; and many such things are with Him.
Porque cumprirá o que está ordenado a meu respeito, e muitas coisas como estas ainda tem consigo.
15 Therefore am I affrighted at His presence; when I consider, I am afraid of Him.
Por isso me perturbo perante ele, considero, e temo-me dele.
16 Yea, God hath made my heart faint, and the Almighty hath affrighted me;
Porque Deus macerou o meu coração, e o Todo-poderoso me perturbou.
17 Because I was not cut off before the darkness, neither did He cover the thick darkness from my face.
Porquanto não fui desarreigado antes das trevas, e nem encobriu com a escuridão o meu rosto.
