Job 20
1 Then answered Zophar the Naamathite, and said:
Odpovídaje pak Zofar Naamatský, řekl:
2 Therefore do my thoughts give answer to me, even by reason of mine agitation that is in me.
Z příčiny té myšlení má k odpovídání tobě nutí mne, a to abych rychle učinil,
3 I have heard the reproof which putteth me to shame, but out of my understanding my spirit answereth me.
Že kárání k zahanbení svému slyším, pročež duch můj osvícený nutí mne, aťbych odpovídal.
4 Knowest thou not this of old time, since man was placed upon earth,
Zdaž nevíš o tom, že od věků, a jakž postavil Bůh člověka na zemi,
5 That the triumphing of the wicked is short, and the joy of the godless but for a moment?
Plésání bezbožných krátké jest, a veselí pokrytce jen na chvílku?
6 Though his excellency mount up to the heavens, and his head reach unto the clouds;
Byť pak vstoupila až k nebi pýcha jeho, a hlava jeho oblaku by se dotkla,
7 Yet he shall perish for ever like his own dung; they that have seen him shall say: 'Where is he?'
Však jako lejno jeho na věky zahyne. Ti, kteříž jej vídali, řeknou: Kam se poděl?
8 He shall fly away as a dream, and shall not be found; yea, he shall be chased away as a vision of the night.
Jako sen pomine, aniž ho naleznou; nebo uteče jako vidění noční.
9 The eye which saw him shall see him no more; neither shall his place any more behold him.
Oko, kteréž ho vídalo, již ho nikdy neuzří, aniž více patřiti bude na něj místo jeho.
10 His children shall appease the poor, and his hands shall restore his wealth.
Synové jeho budou přízně u nuzných hledati, a ruce jeho musejí zase vraceti loupež svou.
11 His bones are full of his youth, but it shall lie down with him in the dust.
Kosti jeho naplněny jsou hříchy mladosti jeho, a s ním v prachu lehnou.
12 Though wickedness be sweet in his mouth, though he hide it under his tongue;
A ačkoli zlost sladne v ústech jeho, a chová ji pod jazykem svým;
13 Though he spare it, and will not let it go, but keep it still within his mouth;
Kochá se v ní, a nepouští jí, ale zdržuje ji u prostřed dásní svých:
14 Yet his food in his bowels is turned, it is the gall of asps within him.
Však pokrm ten ve střevách jeho promění se; bude jako žluč hadů nejlítějších u vnitřnostech jeho.
15 He hath swallowed down riches, and he shall vomit them up again; God shall cast them out of his belly.
Zboží nahltané vyvrátí, z břicha jeho Bůh silný je vyžene.
16 He shall suck the poison of asps; the viper's tongue shall slay him.
Jed hadů lítých ssáti bude, zabije ho jazyk ještěrčí.
17 He shall not look upon the rivers, the flowing streams of honey and curd.
Neuzří pramenů potoků a řek medu a másla.
18 That which he laboured for shall he give back, and shall not swallow it down; according to the substance that he hath gotten, he shall not rejoice.
Navrátí úsilé cizí, a nezažive ho, vedlé nátisku svého rozličného; nebude na ně vesel.
19 For he hath oppressed and forsaken the poor; he hath violently taken away a house, and he shall not build it up.
Nebo utiskal a opouštěl nuzné, dům zloupil a nestavěl ho.
20 Because he knew no quietness within him, in his greed he suffered nought to escape,
Pročež nesezná nic pokojného v životě svém, aniž které nejrozkošnější své věci bude moci zachovati.
21 There was nothing left that he devoured not — therefore his prosperity shall not endure.
Nic mu nepozůstane z pokrmu jeho, tak že nebude míti, čím by se troštoval.
22 In the fulness of his sufficiency he shall be in straits; the hand of every one that is in misery shall come upon him.
Byť pak i dovršena byla hojnost jeho, ssoužení míti bude; každá ruka trapiče oboří se na něj.
23 It shall be for the filling of his belly; He shall cast the fierceness of His wrath upon him, and shall cause it to rain upon him into his flesh.
By měl čím naplniti břicho své, dopustí na něj Bůh prchlivost hněvu svého, kterouž na něj dštíti bude i na pokrm jeho.
24 If he flee from the iron weapon, the bow of brass shall strike him through.
Když utíkati bude před zbrojí železnou, prostřelí ho lučiště ocelivé.
25 He draweth it forth, and it cometh out of his body; yea, the glittering point cometh out of his gall; terrors are upon him.
Střela vyňata bude z toulu a vystřelena, nadto meč pronikne žluč jeho; a když odcházeti bude, přikvačí jej hrůzy.
26 All darkness is laid up for his treasures; a fire not blown by man shall consume him; it shall go ill with him that is left in his tent.
Všeliká neštěstí jsou polečena v skrýších jeho, zžíře jej oheň nerozdmýchaný, zle se povede i pozůstalému v stanu jeho.
27 The heavens shall reveal his iniquity, and the earth shall rise up against him.
Odkryjí nebesa nepravost jeho, a země povstane proti němu.
28 The increase of his house shall depart, his goods shall flow away in the day of his wrath.
Rozptýlena bude úroda domu jeho, rozplyne se v den hněvu jeho.
29 This is the portion of a wicked man from God, and the heritage appointed unto him by God.
Tenť jest podíl člověka bezbožného od Boha, to, pravím, dědictví vyrčené jemu od Boha silného.
