Job 12
1 Then Job answered and said:
Y respondió Job, y dijo:
2 No doubt but ye are the people, and wisdom shall die with you.
Ciertamente que vosotros sois el pueblo, y con vosotros morirá la sabiduría.
3 But I have understanding as well as you; I am not inferior to you; yea, who knoweth not such things as these?
También tengo yo seso como vosotros: no soy yo menos que vosotros; ¿y quién habrá que no pueda decir otro tanto?
4 I am as one that is a laughing-stock to his neighbour, a man that called upon God, and He answered him; the just, the innocent man is a laughing-stock,
El que invoca a Dios, y él le responde, es burlado de su amigo; y el justo y perfecto es escarnecido.
5 A contemptible brand in the thought of him that is at ease, a thing ready for them whose foot slippeth.
La antorcha es tenida en poco en el pensamiento del próspero: la cual se aparejó contra las caídas de los pies.
6 The tents of robbers prosper, and they that provoke God are secure, in whatsoever God bringeth into their hand.
Las tiendas de los robadores están en paz; y los que provocan a Dios, y los que traen dioses en sus manos, viven seguros.
7 But ask now the beasts, and they shall teach thee; and the fowls of the air, and they shall tell thee;
Mas ciertamente pregunta ahora a las bestias, que ellas te enseñarán; y a las aves de los cielos, que ellas te mostrarán:
8 Or speak to the earth, and it shall teach thee; and the fishes of the sea shall declare unto thee;
O habla a la tierra, que ella te enseñará; y los peces de la mar te declararán.
9 Who knoweth not among all these, that the hand of the LORD hath wrought this?
¿Qué cosa de todas estas no entiende que la mano de Jehová la hizo,
10 In whose hand is the soul of every living thing, and the breath of all mankind. —
Y que en su mano está el alma de todo viviente, el espíritu de toda carne humana?
11 Doth not the ear try words, even as the palate tasteth its food?
Ciertamente el oído prueba las palabras, y el paladar gusta las viandas.
12 Is wisdom with aged men, and understanding in length of days? —
En los viejos está la ciencia, y en longura de días la inteligencia.
13 With Him is wisdom and might; He hath counsel and understanding.
Con el está la sabiduría y la fortaleza, suyo es el consejo y la inteligencia.
14 Behold, He breaketh down, and it cannot be built again; He shutteth up a man, and there can be no opening.
He aquí, el derribará, y no será edificado: encerrará al hombre, y no habrá quien le abra.
15 Behold, He withholdeth the waters, and they dry up; also He sendeth them out, and they overturn the earth.
He aquí, él detendrá las aguas, y se secarán: él las enviará, y destruirán la tierra.
16 With Him is strength and sound wisdom; the deceived and the deceiver are His.
Con él está la fortaleza y la existencia: suyo es el que yerra, y el que hace errar.
17 He leadeth counsellors away stripped, and judges maketh He fools.
El hace andar a los consejeros desnudos, y hace enloquecer a los jueces.
18 He looseth the bond of kings, and bindeth their loins with a girdle.
El suelta la atadura de los tiranos, y les ata la cinta en sus lomos.
19 He leadeth priests away stripped, and overthroweth the mighty.
El lleva despojados a los príncipes, y él trastorna a los valientes.
20 He removeth the speech of men of trust, and taketh away the sense of the elders.
El quita la habla a los que dicen verdad, y el toma el consejo a los ancianos.
21 He poureth contempt upon princes, and looseth the belt of the strong.
El derrama menosprecio sobre los príncipes, y enflaquece la fuerza de los esforzados.
22 He uncovereth deep things out of darkness, and bringeth out to light the shadow of death.
El descubre las profundidades de las tinieblas, y saca a luz la sombra de muerte.
23 He increaseth the nations, and destroyeth them; He enlargeth the nations, and leadeth them away.
El multiplica las gentes, y él las pierde: él esparce las gentes, y las torna a recoger.
24 He taketh away the heart of the chiefs of the people of the land, and causeth them to wander in a wilderness where there is no way.
El quita el seso de las cabezas del pueblo de la tierra, y los hace que se pierdan vagueando sin camino:
25 They grope in the dark without light, and He maketh them to stagger like a drunken man.
Que palpen las tinieblas, y no la luz: y los hace errar como borrachos.
