Jeremiah 47
1 The word of the LORD that came to Jeremiah the prophet concerning the Philistines, before that Pharaoh smote Gaza.
Palabra que dijo Yahvé al profeta Jeremías, acerca de los filisteos, antes que el Faraón derrotara a Gaza.
2 Thus saith the LORD: Behold, waters rise up out of the north, and shall become an overflowing stream, and they shall overflow the land and all that is therein, the city and them that dwell therein; and the men shall cry, and all the inhabitants of the land shall wail.
Así dice Yahvé: “He aquí aguas que avanzan del Norte, como torrente que inunda; inundan el país y su amplitud, la ciudad y sus habitantes. Claman los hombres y dan alaridos todos los moradores del país,
3 At the noise of the stamping of the hoofs of his strong ones, at the rushing of his chariots, at the rumbling of his wheels, the fathers look not back to their children for feebleness of hands;
al estrépito de los cascos de sus caballos, al estruendo de sus carros y al ruido de sus ruedas. Los padres no miran ya por sus hijos; les faltan las fuerzas,
4 Because of the day that cometh to spoil all the Philistines, to cut off from Tyre and Zidon every helper that remaineth; for the LORD will spoil the Philistines, the remnant of the isle of Caphtor.
pues llegó el día para destruir a todos los filisteos; para privar a Tiro y Sidón del postrer aliado. Porque Yahvé va a destruir a los filisteos, el residuo de la isla de Caftor.
5 Baldness is come upon Gaza, Ashkelon is brought to nought, the remnant of their valley; how long wilt thou cut thyself?
Sobre Gaza viene la calvicie, Ascalón, resto de los gigantes, es reducida a silencio. ¿Hasta cuándo te harás incisiones?
6 O thou sword of the LORD, how long will it be ere thou be quiet? Put up thyself into thy scabbard, rest, and be still.
¡Ay espada de Yahvé! ¿Cuándo descansarás? ¡Vuélvete a tu vaina, descansa y calla!
7 How canst thou be quiet? for the LORD hath given it a charge; against Ashkelon, and against the sea-shore, there hath He appointed it.
¿Mas cómo podrás descansar cuando Yahvé te ha dado orden? Es contra Ascalón y la costa del mar adonde Él la dirige.”
