Jeremiah 22
1 Thus said the LORD: Go down to the house of the king of Judah, and speak there this word,
Esto es lo que el Señor ha dicho: desciende a la casa del rey de Judá y dale esta palabra:
2 and say: Hear the word of the LORD, O king of Judah, that sittest upon the throne of David, thou, and thy servants, and thy people that enter in by these gates.
Y di: Escucha la palabra del Señor, rey de Judá, sentado en el trono de David, tú y tus siervos y tu gente que entra por estas puertas.
3 Thus saith the LORD: Execute ye justice and righteousness, and deliver the spoiled out of the hand of the oppressor; and do no wrong, do no violence, to the stranger, the fatherless, nor the widow, neither shed innocent blood in this place.
Esto es lo que el Señor ha dicho: Haz lo que es correcto, juzga con rectitud y libérate de las manos del cruel a quien ha quitado violentamente los bienes: no hagas nada malo ni seas violento con el hombre extranjero, el huérfano y la viuda, y que no se condene a muerte a los que no han hecho nada malo en este lugar.
4 For if ye do this thing indeed, then shall there enter in by the gates of this house kings sitting upon the throne of David, riding in chariots and on horses, he, and his servants, and his people.
Porque si realmente haces esto, entonces entrarán por las puertas de esta casa, reyes y se sentarán en el trono de David, yendo en carruajes y a caballo, él, sus sirvientes y su gente.
5 But if ye will not hear these words, I swear by Myself, saith the LORD, that this house shall become a desolation.
Pero si no escuchas estas palabras, te doy mi juramento, dice el Señor, que esta casa se convertirá en ruinas.
6 For thus saith the LORD concerning the house of the king of Judah: Thou art Gilead unto Me, the head of Lebanon; yet surely I will make thee a wilderness, cities which are not inhabited.
Porque esto es lo que el Señor ha dicho acerca de la familia del rey de Judá: tú eres como Galaad para mí y la parte superior del Líbano; pero, en verdad, te haré desperdiciar, como ciudades sin habitantes.
7 And I will prepare destroyers against thee, every one with his weapons; and they shall cut down thy choice cedars, and cast them into the fire.
Y prepararé a los que traerán destrucción sobre ti, todos armados para la guerra; por ellos serán cortados tus cedros escogidos y los pondrán en el fuego.
8 And many nations shall pass by this city, and they shall say every man to his neighbour: 'Wherefore hath the LORD done thus unto this great city?'
Y naciones de todos lados pasarán por este pueblo, y cada uno dirá a su prójimo: ¿Por qué ha hecho el Señor tales cosas a este gran pueblo?
9 Then they shall answer: 'Because they forsook the covenant of the LORD their God, and worshipped other gods, and served them.'
Y ellos dirán: Porque renunciaron al pacto del Señor su Dios, y se convirtieron en adoradores y siervos de otros dioses.
10 Weep ye not for the dead, neither bemoan him; but weep sore for him that goeth away, for he shall return no more, nor see his native country.
No lloren por los muertos, ni hagan cánticos de pena por él, sino que lloren por el que se ha ido, porque nunca volverá, no volverá a ver el país de su nacimiento.
11 For thus saith the LORD touching Shallum the son of Josiah, king of Judah, who reigned instead of Josiah his father, and who went forth out of this place: He shall not return thither any more;
Porque esto es lo que el Señor ha dicho acerca de Salum, el hijo de Josías, rey de Judá, quien se convirtió en rey en lugar de Josías su padre, que salió de este lugar; nunca más volverá allí.
12 but in the place whither they have led him captive, there shall he die, and he shall see this land no more.
Pero la muerte vendrá a él en el lugar donde lo han llevado prisionero, y nunca volverá a ver esta tierra.
13 Woe unto him that buildeth his house by unrighteousness, and his chambers by injustice; that useth his neighbour's service without wages, and giveth him not his hire;
Hay una maldición sobre el que está construyendo su casa por malas acciones, y sus habitaciones por hacer lo que no está bien; quien hace uso de su vecino sin pago, y no le da nada por su trabajo;
14 That saith: 'I will build me a wide house and spacious chambers', and cutteth him out windows, and it is ceiled with cedar, and painted with vermilion.
Quien dice: Haré una casa amplia para mí, y habitaciones de gran tamaño, y le abre ventanas, y la tiene cubierta con cedro y pintada con rojo brillante.
15 Shalt thou reign, because thou strivest to excel in cedar? Did not thy father eat and drink, and do justice and righteousness? Then it was well with him.
¿Serás un rey porque usas más el cedro que tu padre? ¿Acaso tu padre no comió y bebió, e hizo lo correcto, juzgando con justicia, y entonces le fue bien a él?
16 He judged the cause of the poor and needy; then it was well. Is not this to know Me? saith the LORD.
Él fue juez en la causa de los pobres y de los necesitados; entonces le fue bien ¿No era esto por tener conocimiento de mí? dice el Señor.
17 But thine eyes and thy heart are not but for thy covetousness, and for shedding innocent blood, and for oppression, and for violence, to do it.
Pero tus ojos y tu corazón están fijos sólo en beneficio propio, en causar la muerte de aquel que no ha hecho nada malo, y en actos violentos y crueles.
18 Therefore thus saith the LORD concerning Jehoiakim the son of Josiah, king of Judah: They shall not lament for him: 'Ah my brother!' or: 'Ah sister!' They shall not lament for him: 'Ah lord!' or: 'Ah his glory!'
Esto es lo que el Señor ha dicho acerca de Joacim, hijo de Josías, rey de Judá: No llorarán por él, diciendo: ¡Ah, hermano mío! o, ¡ah hermana! no llorarán por él, diciendo: ¡Ah señor! o, ¡Ah, su majestad!
19 He shall be buried with the burial of an ass, drawn and cast forth beyond the gates of Jerusalem.
Le harán lo que le hacen al cuerpo de un asno; Su cuerpo será sacado y colocado sobre la tierra fuera de las puertas de Jerusalén.
20 Go up to Lebanon, and cry, and lift up thy voice in Bashan; and cry from Abarim, for all thy lovers are destroyed.
Sube al Líbano y da un grito; que tu voz sea fuerte en Basán, clamando desde Abarim; Porque todos tus amantes han llegado a la destrucción.
21 I spoke unto thee in thy prosperity, but thou saidst: 'I will not hear.' This hath been thy manner from thy youth, that thou hearkenedst not to My voice.
Mi palabra vino a ti en el tiempo de tu bienestar; Pero dijiste: No oiré. Este ha sido tu camino desde tu juventud, no prestó atención a mi voz.
22 The wind shall feed upon all thy shepherds, and thy lovers shall go into captivity; surely then shalt thou be ashamed and confounded for all thy wickedness.
Todos los guardianes de tus ovejas serán arrastrados por el viento, y tus amantes serán llevados prisioneros; en verdad, serás avergonzada y no serás acogida por toda tu maldad.
23 O inhabitant of Lebanon, that art nestled in the cedars, how gracious shalt thou be when pangs come upon thee, the pain as of a woman in travail!
¡Oh, tú, que vives en el Líbano, viviendo en los cedros, como gemirás cuando te vengan los dolores, como en una mujer en el parto!
24 As I live, saith the LORD, though Coniah the son of Jehoiakim king of Judah were the signet upon My right hand, yet would I pluck thee thence;
Por mi vida, dice el Señor, incluso si Jeconia, el hijo de Joacim, rey de Judá, era el anillo de mi mano derecha, incluso desde allí te haría arrancar;
25 and I will give thee into the hand of them that seek thy life, and into the hand of them of whom thou art afraid, even into the hand of Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon, and into the hand of the Chaldeans.
Y te entregaré en manos de aquellos que desean tu muerte, y en manos de aquellos a quienes temes, incluso en manos de Nabucodonosor, rey de Babilonia, y en manos de los caldeos.
26 And I will cast thee out, and thy mother that bore thee, into another country, where ye were not born; and there shall ye die.
Te enviaré a ti, ya tu madre que te dio a luz, a otro país, no a la tierra de tu nacimiento; y allí vendrá la muerte a ti.
27 But to the land whereunto they long to return, thither shall they not return.
Pero a la tierra en la que se fija el deseo de su alma, nunca volverán.
28 Is this man Coniah a despised, broken image? Is he a vessel wherein is no pleasure? Wherefore are they cast out, he and his seed, and are cast into the land which they know not?
¿Es este hombre Jeconías un vaso roto que no tiene valor? ¿Es un vaso en el que no hay placer? ¿Por qué son enviados violentamente, él y su simiente, a una tierra que les es extraña?
29 O land, land, land, hear the word of the LORD.
¡Oh tierra, tierra, tierra, escucha la palabra del Señor!
30 Thus saith the LORD: Write ye this man childless, a man that shall not prosper in his days; for no man of his seed shall prosper, sitting upon the throne of David, and ruling any more in Judah.
El Señor ha dicho: Que este hombre quede registrado como un hombre sin hijos, un hombre que fracasó en toda su vida; porque ningún hombre de su descendencia será sentado en el trono del reino de David para reinar de nuevo en Judá.
