Isaiah 1

1 THE VISION of Isaiah the son of Amoz, which he saw concerning Judah and Jerusalem, in the days of Uzziah, Jotham, Ahaz, and Hezekiah, kings of Judah.

ஆமோஸின் மகன் ஏசாயா, யூதாவின் அரசர்களாகிய உசியா, யோதாம், ஆகாஸ், எசேக்கியா ஆகியோர் அரசாண்ட காலங்களில் யூதா நாட்டையும், எருசலேம் பட்டணத்தையும் பற்றி கண்ட தரிசனம்.

2 Hear, O heavens, and give ear, O earth, for the LORD hath spoken: Children I have reared, and brought up, and they have rebelled against Me.

வானங்களே, கேளுங்கள், பூமியே, கவனித்துக் கேள்! ஏனெனில் யெகோவா பேசியிருக்கிறார்: “நான் என் பிள்ளைகளை பராமரித்துப் பாதுகாத்து வளர்த்தேன்; ஆனால் அவர்கள் எனக்கெதிராகக் கலகம் பண்ணினார்கள்.

3 The ox knoweth his owner, and the ass his master's crib; but Israel doth not know, My people doth not consider.

எருது தன் எஜமானையும், கழுதை தன் எஜமானின் தொழுவத்தையும் அறியும். ஆனால் இஸ்ரயேலரோ என்னை அறிந்துகொள்ளாமலும், என் மக்கள் என்னைப் புரிந்துகொள்ளாமலும் இருக்கிறார்கள்.”

4 Ah sinful nation, a people laden with iniquity, a seed of evil-doers, children that deal corruptly; they have forsaken the LORD, they have contemned the Holy One of Israel, they are turned away backward.

ஐயோ, இவர்கள் பாவம் நிறைந்த நாடு, குற்றம் நிறைந்த மக்கள், தீயவர்களின் கூட்டம், கேடு கெட்டு நடக்கும் பிள்ளைகள்! இவர்கள் யெகோவாவை விட்டுவிட்டார்கள், இவர்கள் இஸ்ரயேலின் பரிசுத்தரை அவமதித்து, அவருக்குத் தங்கள் முதுகைக் காட்டினார்கள்.

5 On what part will ye yet be stricken, seeing ye stray away more and more? The whole head is sick, and the whole heart faint;

இன்னும் நீங்கள் ஏன் அடிக்கப்பட வேண்டும்? உங்கள் தலை முழுவதும் காயப்பட்டும், உங்கள் இருதயம் முழுவதும் வேதனையுற்றும் இருக்கிறதே! தொடர்ந்து ஏன் நீங்கள் கலகம் செய்கிறீர்கள்?

6 From the sole of the foot even unto the head there is no soundness in it; but wounds, and bruises, and festering sores: they have not been pressed, neither bound up, neither mollified with oil.

உங்கள் உள்ளங்கால் தொடங்கி உச்சந்தலைவரை, நீங்கள் ஆரோக்கியம் அற்றவர்களாய் இருக்கிறீர்கள். ஆறாத புண்களும், அடிகாயங்களும், சீழ்வடியும் புண்களுமே இருக்கின்றன. அவை சுத்தமாக்கப்படவோ, கட்டுப்போடப்படவோ, எண்ணெய் பூசி குணமாக்கப்படவோ இல்லை.

7 Your country is desolate; your cities are burned with fire; your land, strangers devour it in your presence, and it is desolate, as overthrown by floods.

உங்கள் நாடு பாழடைந்திருக்கிறது; உங்கள் நகரங்கள் தீயினால் எரிந்துபோய்க் கிடக்கின்றன. உங்கள் கண்முன்பதாகவே உங்கள் வயல்கள் அந்நியரால் கொள்ளையிடப்படுகின்றன; உங்கள் நாடு பிறநாட்டினரால் தோற்கடிக்கப்பட்டு பாழடைந்ததைப் போல் இருக்கிறதே!

8 And the daughter of Zion is left as a booth in a vineyard, as a lodge in a garden of cucumbers, as a besieged city.

சீயோனின் மகள் திராட்சைத் தோட்டத்திலுள்ள கொட்டில் போலவும், வெள்ளரித் தோட்டத்தின் குடில்போலவும், முற்றுகையிட்ட பட்டணம் போலவும் தனித்து விடப்பட்டிருக்கிறாள்.

9 Except the LORD of hosts had left unto us a very small remnant, we should have been as Sodom, we should have been like unto Gomorrah.

எல்லாம் வல்ல யெகோவா நம்மில் ஒரு சிலரைத் தப்பிப்பிழைக்க விட்டிராமல் இருந்தால், நாம் சோதோமைப் போலாகியிருப்போம்; நாம் கொமோராவுக்கு ஒத்தவர்களாயிருப்போம்.

10 Hear the word of the LORD, ye rulers of Sodom; give ear unto the law of our God, ye people of Gomorrah.

சோதோமின் ஆளுநர்களே, யெகோவாவின் வார்த்தையைக் கேளுங்கள்; கொமோராவின் மக்களே, நமது இறைவனின் கட்டளைக்குச் செவிகொடுங்கள்!

11 To what purpose is the multitude of your sacrifices unto Me? saith the LORD; I am full of the burnt-offerings of rams, and the fat of fed beasts; and I delight not in the blood of bullocks, or of lambs, or of he-goats.

“உங்கள் ஏராளமான பலிகள் எனக்கு எதற்கு?” என யெகோவா கேட்கிறார். “செம்மறியாட்டுக் கடாக்களின் தகனபலிகளும், கொழுத்த மந்தைகளின் கொழுப்பும், எனக்குச் சலித்துவிட்டன; காளைகள், செம்மறியாட்டுக் குட்டிகள், கடாக்களுடைய இரத்தத்தினால் எனக்கு மகிழ்ச்சி இல்லை.

12 When ye come to appear before Me, who hath required this at your hand, to trample My courts?

நீங்கள் என் முன்னிலையில் வரும்போது, இவற்றையெல்லாம் கொண்டுவந்து, இப்படி என் பிராகாரங்களை மிதிக்கவேண்டுமென உங்களிடம் கூறியவர் யார்?

13 Bring no more vain oblations; it is an offering of abomination unto Me; new moon and sabbath, the holding of convocations — I cannot endure iniquity along with the solemn assembly.

உங்களது அர்த்தமற்ற காணிக்கைகளைக் கொண்டுவருவதை நிறுத்துங்கள்! உங்கள் தூபம் எனக்கு அருவருப்பாயிருக்கிறது. அமாவாசை நாட்கள், ஓய்வுநாட்கள், சபைக்கூட்டங்கள் போன்ற ஒழுங்கற்ற ஒன்றுகூடுதலை இனி என்னால் சகிக்க முடியாது.

14 Your new moons and your appointed seasons My soul hateth; they are a burden unto Me; I am weary to bear them.

உங்களது அமாவாசை நாட்களையும், உங்கள் பண்டிகைகளையும் என் ஆத்துமா வெறுக்கிறது. அவை எனக்கு சுமையாகிவிட்டன; நான் அவைகளைச் சுமந்து களைத்துப் போனேன்.

15 And when ye spread forth your hands, I will hide Mine eyes from you; yea, when ye make many prayers, I will not hear; your hands are full of blood.

நீங்கள் ஜெபிப்பதற்காகக் கைகளை உயர்த்தும்போது, நான் உங்களிடமிருந்து என் கண்களை மறைத்துக்கொள்வேன்; அநேக ஜெபங்களைச் செய்தாலும், நான் செவிகொடுக்கமாட்டேன். “ஏனெனில் உங்கள் கைகள் குற்றமற்ற இரத்தக் கறையால் நிறைந்திருக்கின்றது!

16 Wash you, make you clean, put away the evil of your doings from before Mine eyes, cease to do evil;

“உங்களைக் கழுவி சுத்திகரியுங்கள். உங்கள் கொடிய செயல்களை எனது பார்வையிலிருந்து நீக்கி, தீமை செய்வதை நிறுத்துங்கள்.

17 Learn to do well; seek justice, relieve the oppressed, judge the fatherless, plead for the widow.

சரியானதைச் செய்யக் கற்றுக்கொள்ளுங்கள்; நீதியைத் தேடுங்கள். ஒடுக்கப்பட்டவர்களுக்கு உதவுங்கள். திக்கற்றவர்களுக்கு நியாயம் செய்யுங்கள்; விதவைக்காக வழக்காடுங்கள்.

18 Come now, and let us reason together, saith the LORD; though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool.

“வாருங்கள், இப்பொழுது நாம் வழக்காடுவோம்” என்று யெகோவா கூறுகிறார். “உங்கள் பாவங்கள் செந்நிறமாய் இருந்தாலும், பனிபோல் வெண்மையாகும்; அவை கருஞ்சிவப்பாய் இருந்தாலும், பஞ்சைப்போல் வெண்மையாகும்.

19 If ye be willing and obedient, ye shall eat the good of the land;

நீங்கள் இணங்கிக் கீழ்ப்படிந்தால், நாட்டின் சிறந்த பலனைச் சாப்பிடுவீர்கள்.

20 But if ye refuse and rebel, ye shall be devoured with the sword; for the mouth of the LORD hath spoken.

ஆனால் எதிர்த்துக் கலகம் பண்ணுவீர்களாயின், நீங்கள் பட்டயத்துக்கு இரையாவீர்கள்.” யெகோவாவின் வாயே இவற்றை சொல்லியிருக்கிறது.

21 How is the faithful city become a harlot! She that was full of justice, righteousness lodged in her, but now murderers.

பாருங்கள், எவ்வளவு உண்மையாய் இருந்த பட்டணம் இப்படி வேசியாயிற்று! முன்பு அது நியாயத்தால் நிரம்பியிருந்தது; நீதி அதில் குடியிருந்ததே, இப்பொழுதோ அது கொலைகாரரின் வசிப்பிடமாயிருக்கிறது.

22 Thy silver is become dross, thy wine mixed with water.

உன் வெள்ளி களிம்பாகிவிட்டது, உன் சிறந்த திராட்சை இரசம் தண்ணீர் கலப்பாயிற்று.

23 Thy princes are rebellious, and companions of thieves; every one loveth bribes, and followeth after rewards; they judge not the fatherless, neither doth the cause of the widow come unto them.

உனது ஆளுநர்கள் கலகக்காரர், திருடரின் தோழர்; ஒவ்வொருவரும் இலஞ்சத்தை விரும்பி, வெகுமதியை நாடி விரைகிறார்கள். அநாதைகளுக்கு நியாயம் செய்யாதிருக்கிறார்கள்; விதவையின் வழக்கை எடுத்துப் பேசாதிருக்கிறார்கள்.

24 Therefore saith the Lord, the LORD of hosts, the Mighty One of Israel: Ah, I will ease Me of Mine adversaries, and avenge Me of Mine enemies;

ஆகவே, யெகோவா, எல்லாம் வல்ல யெகோவாவாகிய இஸ்ரயேலின் வல்லவர் அறிவிக்கிறார்: “ஓ! நான் என் எதிரிகளிடமிருந்து விடுதலையடைந்து என் பகைவர்களைப் பழிவாங்குவேன்.

25 And I will turn My hand upon thee, and purge away thy dross as with lye, and will take away all thine alloy;

நான் என் கரத்தை உனக்கு எதிராகத் திருப்புவேன்; நான் உனது களிம்பு முற்றிலும் நீங்க உன்னை உருக்கி, உன் அசுத்தங்கள் அனைத்தையும் அப்புறப்படுத்துவேன்.

26 And I will restore thy judges as at the first, and thy counsellors as at the beginning; afterward thou shalt be called The city of righteousness, the faithful city.

முந்தைய நாட்களில் இருந்ததுபோல், நான் உன்னுடைய நியாயதிபதிகளைத் திரும்பவும் அமர்த்துவேன். ஆரம்பத்தில் இருந்ததுபோலவே உன் ஆலோசகர்களையும் மீண்டும் தருவேன். அதன்பின் நீ நீதியின் நகரம் என்றும், உண்மையுள்ள நகரம் என்றும் அழைக்கப்படுவாய்.”

27 Zion shall be redeemed with justice, and they that return of her with righteousness.

சீயோன் நியாயத்தினாலும், அங்கு மனந்திரும்புவோர் நீதியினாலும் மீட்கப்படுவார்கள்.

28 But the destruction of the transgressors and the sinners shall be together, and they that forsake the LORD shall be consumed.

ஆனால் கலகக்காரரும் பாவிகளும் ஒருமித்து நொறுக்கப்படுவார்கள்; யெகோவாவைவிட்டு விலகுகிறவர்களோ அழிந்துபோவார்கள்.

29 For they shall be ashamed of the terebinths which ye have desired, and ye shall be confounded for the gardens that ye have chosen.

“நீங்கள் விருப்பத்துடன் வணங்கிய புனித கர்வாலி மரங்களின் நிமித்தம் வெட்கப்படுவீர்கள்; நீங்கள் வழிபாட்டுக்கெனத் தெரிந்துகொண்ட தோட்டங்களினிமித்தம் அவமானப்படுவீர்கள்.

30 For ye shall be as a terebinth whose leaf fadeth, and as a garden that hath no water.

நீங்கள் இலையுதிர்ந்த கர்வாலி மரம் போலவும், தண்ணீரில்லாத தோட்டம்போலவும் இருப்பீர்கள்.

31 And the strong shall be as tow, and his work as a spark; and they shall both burn together, and none shall quench them.

வலிமையுள்ளவன் காய்ந்த கூளம் போலவும் அவனுடைய செயல் ஒரு நெருப்புப்பொறியும் போலாகி, இரண்டும் அணைப்பாரின்றி ஏகமாய் எரிந்துபோகும்.”
