Isaiah 51

1 Hearken to Me, ye that follow after righteousness, ye that seek the LORD; look unto the rock whence ye were hewn, and to the hole of the pit whence ye were digged.

Daţi-mi ascultare, voi care urmaţi dreptatea, voi care căutaţi pe DOMNUL, priviţi la stânca din care sunteţi ciopliţi şi la gaura gropii din care sunteţi săpaţi.

2 Look unto Abraham your father, and unto Sarah that bore you; for when he was but one I called him, and I blessed him, and made him many.

Priviţi la Avraam tatăl vostru şi la Sara care v-a născut, fiindcă l-am chemat doar pe el şi l-am binecuvântat şi l-am înmulţit.

3 For the LORD hath comforted Zion; He hath comforted all her waste places, and hath made her wilderness like Eden, and her desert like the garden of the LORD; joy and gladness shall be found therein, thanksgiving, and the voice of melody.

Fiindcă DOMNUL va mângâia Sionul, v-a mângâia toate locurile ei risipite; şi va face pustiul ei ca Edenul şi deşertul ei ca grădina DOMNULUI; bucurie şi veselie se vor găsi acolo, mulţumire şi vocea melodiei.

4 Attend unto Me, O My people, and give ear unto Me, O My nation; for instruction shall go forth from Me, and My right on a sudden for a light of the peoples.

Dă-mi ascultare, poporul meu; şi pleacă urechea la mine, naţiunea mea, fiindcă o lege va ieşi din mine şi voi face să se odihnească judecata mea ca o lumină a poporului.

5 My favour is near, My salvation is gone forth, and Mine arms shall judge the peoples; the isles shall wait for Me, and on Mine arm shall they trust.

Dreptatea mea este aproape; salvarea mea a ieşit şi braţele mele vor judeca poporul; insulele mă vor aştepta şi în braţul meu se vor încrede.

6 Lift up your eyes to the heavens, and look upon the earth beneath; for the heavens shall vanish away like smoke, and the earth shall wax old like a garment, and they that dwell therein shall die in like manner; but My salvation shall be for ever, and My favour shall not be abolished.

Ridicaţi-vă ochii spre ceruri şi priviţi la pământul de dedesubt, fiindcă cerurile vor dispare ca fumul şi pământul va îmbătrâni ca un veşmânt şi cei ce locuiesc pe el vor muri în acelaşi fel, dar salvarea mea va fi pentru totdeauna şi dreptatea mea nu va fi abolită.

7 Hearken unto Me, ye that know righteousness, the people in whose heart is My law; fear ye not the taunt of men, neither be ye dismayed at their revilings.

Daţi-mi ascultare, voi care cunoaşteţi dreptatea, poporul în a cărui inimă este legea mea; nu vă temeţi de ocara oamenilor, nici nu vă fie frică de dispreţuirile lor.

8 For the moth shall eat them up like a garment, and the worm shall eat them like wool; but My favour shall be for ever, and My salvation unto all generations.

Fiindcă molia ca pe un veşmânt îi va mânca şi îi va mânca viermele ca pe o lână, dar dreptatea mea va fi pentru totdeauna şi salvarea mea din generaţie în generaţie.

9 Awake, awake, put on strength, O arm of the LORD; awake, as in the days of old, the generations of ancient times. Art thou not it that hewed Rahab in pieces, that pierced the dragon?

Trezeşte-te, trezeşte-te, îmbracă-te cu tărie, braţ al DOMNULUI; trezeşte-te, ca în zilele de demult, în generaţiile din vechime. Nu eşti tu cel care a tăiat pe Rahab [şi] a rănit dragonul?

10 Art thou not it that dried up the sea, the waters of the great deep; that made the depths of the sea a way for the redeemed to pass over?

Nu eşti tu acela care ai uscat marea, apele marelui adânc; care ai făcut [din] adâncurile mării o cale de trecere pentru cei răscumpăraţi?

11 And the ransomed of the LORD shall return, and come with singing unto Zion, and everlasting joy shall be upon their heads; they shall obtain gladness and joy, and sorrow and sighing shall flee away.

De aceea răscumpăraţii DOMNULUI se vor întoarce şi vor veni cu cântare în Sion; şi bucurie veşnică va fi peste capul lor, vor căpăta veselie şi bucurie, iar tristeţea şi jelirea vor fugi.

12 I, even I, am He that comforteth you: who art thou, that thou art afraid of man that shall die, and of the son of man that shall be made as grass;

Eu, eu sunt cel care te mângâie; cine eşti tu, să îţi fie frică de un om care va muri şi de fiul omului care va fi făcut ca iarba;

13 And hast forgotten the LORD thy Maker, that stretched forth the heavens, and laid the foundations of the earth; and fearest continually all the day because of the fury of the oppressor, as he maketh ready to destroy? And where is the fury of the oppressor?

Şi uiţi pe DOMNUL, făcătorul tău, care a întins cerurile şi a aşezat temeliile pământului; şi te-ai temut continuu în fiecare zi din cauza furiei opresorului, ca şi cum ar fi fost gata să distrugă? Şi unde [este] furia opresorului?

14 He that is bent down shall speedily be loosed; and he shall not go down dying into the pit, neither shall his bread fail.

Captivul din exil se grăbeşte să fie dezlegat şi să nu moară în groapă, nici pâinea să nu îi se sfârșească.

15 For I am the LORD thy God, who stirreth up the sea, that the waves thereof roar; the LORD of hosts is His name.

Dar eu sunt DOMNUL Dumnezeul tău, care a despărţit marea, a cărei valuri au urlat, DOMNUL oştirilor este numele său.

16 And I have put My words in thy mouth, and have covered thee in the shadow of My hand, that I may plant the heavens, and lay the foundations of the earth, and say unto Zion: 'Thou art My people.'

Şi am pus cuvintele mele în gura ta şi te-am acoperit în umbra mâinii mele, ca să sădesc cerurile şi să pun temeliile pământului şi să spun Sionului: Tu eşti poporul meu.

17 Awake, awake, stand up, O Jerusalem, that hast drunk at the hand of the LORD the cup of His fury; thou hast drunken the beaker, even the cup of staggering, and drained it.

Trezeşte-te, trezeşte-te, ridică-te în picioare, Ierusalime, care ai băut din mâna DOMNULUI paharul furiei lui; ai băut drojdiile paharului cutremurării şi le-ai stors.

18 There is none to guide her among all the sons whom she hath brought forth; neither is there any that taketh her by the hand of all the sons that she hath brought up.

Nu este nimeni să o călăuzească printre toţi fiii pe care i-a născut; nici să o ia de mână dintre toţi fiii pe care i-a crescut.

19 These two things are befallen thee; who shall bemoan thee? desolation and destruction, and the famine and the sword; how shall I comfort thee?

Aceste două lucruri au venit la tine; cui îi va părea rău pentru tine? Pustiirea şi distrugerea şi foametea şi sabia; prin cine să te mângâi?

20 Thy sons have fainted, they lie at the head of all the streets, as an antelope in a net; they are full of the fury of the LORD, the rebuke of thy God.

Fiii tăi au leşinat, zac la capătul tuturor străzilor, ca un taur sălbatic într-o plasă, sunt plini de furia DOMNULUI, de mustrarea Dumnezeului tău.

21 Therefore hear now this, thou afflicted, and drunken, but not with wine;

Ascultă acum, tu cel nenorocit şi îmbătat, dar nu cu vin,

22 Thus saith thy Lord the LORD, and thy God that pleadeth the cause of His people: behold, I have taken out of thy hand the cup of staggering; the beaker, even the cup of My fury, thou shalt no more drink it again;

Astfel spune Domnul tău DOMNUL şi Dumnezeul tău care pledează în cauza poporului său: Iată, am luat din mâna ta paharul cutremurării, drojdiile paharului furiei mele; nu îl vei mai bea;

23 And I will put it into the hand of them that afflict thee; that have said to thy soul: 'Bow down, that we may go over'; and thou hast laid thy back as the ground, and as the street, to them that go over.

Ci îl voi pune în mâna celor ce te nenorocesc, care au spus sufletului tău: Prosternă-te, să trecem peste tine, iar tu ţi-ai aşternut trupul ca pământul şi ca strada, pentru cei ce au trecut pe deasupra.
