Isaiah 47
1 Come down, and sit in the dust, O virgin daughter of Babylon, sit on the ground without a throne, O daughter of the Chaldeans; for thou shalt no more be called tender and delicate.
Desce, e senta-te no pó da terra, ó virgem filha da Babilônia; senta-te no chão; já não há [mais] trono, ó filha dos caldeus; pois nunca mais serás chamada de tenra e delicada.
2 Take the millstones, and grind meal; remove thy veil, strip off the train, uncover the leg, pass through the rivers.
Toma as pedras de moer, e mói farinha; descobre o teu véu, expõe as pernas, descobre as coxas, [e] passa os rios.
3 Thy nakedness shall be uncovered, yea, thy shame shall be seen; I will take vengeance, and will let no man intercede.
Tua nudez será descoberta, e tua vergonha será vista; tomarei vingança, e a ninguém pouparei.
4 Our Redeemer, the LORD of hosts is His name, The Holy One of Israel.
O nome de nosso Redentor é o SENHOR dos exércitos, o Santo de Israel!
5 Sit thou silent, and get thee into darkness, O daughter of the Chaldeans; for thou shalt no more be called the mistress of kingdoms.
Senta-te calada, e entra nas trevas, ó filha dos caldeus; porque nunca mais serás chamada de senhora dos reinos.
6 I was wroth with My people, I profaned Mine inheritance, and gave them into thy hand; thou didst show them no mercy; upon the aged hast thou very heavily laid thy yoke.
Tive muita ira contra meu povo; profanei minha herança, e os entreguei em tuas mãos; [porém] tu não lhes foste misericordiosa, [e até] sobre os velhos puseste teu jugo muito pesado.
7 And thou saidst: 'For ever shall I be mistress'; so that thou didst not lay these things to thy heart, neither didst remember the end thereof.
E dizias: Serei senhora para sempre; Até agora não pensaste estas coisas em teu coração, nem te lembraste do fim que elas teriam.
8 Now therefore hear this, thou that art given to pleasures, that sittest securely, that sayest in thy heart: 'I am, and there is none else beside me; I shall not sit as a widow, neither shall I know the loss of children';
Agora, pois, ouve isto, ó amante dos prazeres, que habitas tão segura, que dizes em teu coração: Somente eu, e ninguém mais; não ficarei viúva, nem saberei como é perder um filho.
9 But these two things shall come to thee in a moment in one day, the loss of children, and widowhood; in their full measure shall they come upon thee, for the multitude of thy sorceries, and the great abundance of thine enchantments.
Porém ambas estas coisas virão sobre ti, em um momento no mesmo dia: perda de filhos e viuvez; em completa totalidade virão sobre ti, por causa de tuas muitas feitiçarias, por causa da abundância de teus muitos encantamentos.
10 And thou hast been secure in thy wickedness, thou hast said: 'None seeth me'; thy wisdom and thy knowledge, it hath perverted thee; and thou hast said in thy heart. 'I am, and there is none else beside me.'
Pois confiaste em tua maldade, [e] disseste: Ninguém me vê. Tua sabedoria e teu conhecimento, esses te fizeram desviar, e disseste em teu coração: Somente eu, e ninguém mais.
11 Yet shall evil came upon thee; thou shalt not know how to charm it away; and calamity shall fall upon thee; thou shalt not be able to put it away; and ruin shall come upon thee suddenly, before thou knowest.
Então virá sobre ti um mal do qual não saberás a origem, e destruição cairá sobre ti, a qual não poderás solucionar; porque virá sobre ti de repente [tão] tempestuosa assolação, que não poderás reconhecer [com antecedência].
12 Stand now with thine enchantments, and with the multitude of thy sorceries, wherein thou hast laboured from thy youth; if so be thou shalt be able to profit, if so be thou mayest prevail.
Fica [ainda] com teus encantamentos, e com as tuas muitas feitiçarias, em que trabalhaste desde a tua juventude; para [ver se] talvez ter algum proveito, ou quem sabe provoques algum medo.
13 Thou art wearied in the multitude of thy counsels; let now the astrologers, the stargazers, the monthly prognosticators, stand up, and save thee from the things that shall come upon thee.
Tu te cansaste com tantos conselhos que recebeste; levantem-se, pois, agora, os que observam o céu, os que contemplam as estrelas, os adivinhos das luas novas; e salvem-te daquilo que virá sobre ti.
14 Behold, they shall be as stubble; the fire shall burn them; they shall not deliver themselves from the power of the flame; it shall not be a coal to warm at, nor a fire to sit before.
Eis que eles serão como a palha: o fogo os queimará, não poderão livrar suas vidas do poder das chamas; [essas] não serão brasas para se aquecer, [nem] fogo para [meramente] se sentar perto.
15 Thus shall they be unto thee with whom thou hast laboured; they that have trafficked with thee from thy youth shall wander every one to his quarter; there shall be none to save thee.
Assim serão para ti aqueles com quem trabalhaste, aqueles com quem fizeste negócios desde a tua juventude. Cada um [deles] andará sem rumo em seu [próprio] caminho; ninguém te salvará.
