< Isaiah 44 >
1 Yet now hear, O Jacob My servant, and Israel, whom I have chosen;
Ka ko eni, fanongo, ʻE Sēkope ko ʻeku tamaioʻeiki; mo ʻIsileli, ʻa koe kuo u fili:
2 Thus saith the LORD that made thee, and formed thee from the womb, who will help thee: Fear not, O Jacob My servant, and thou, Jeshurun, whom I have chosen.
ʻOku pehē ʻe Sihova ʻaia naʻa ne ngaohi koe, pea naʻe fakafuofua koe mei he manāva, ʻaia te ne tokoniʻi koe; “ʻOua ʻe manavahē,” ʻE Sēkope, ko ʻeku tamaioʻeiki: pea mo koe, ko Sesuluni, ʻa koe kuo u fili.
3 For I will pour water upon the thirsty land, and streams upon the dry ground; I will pour My spirit upon thy seed, and My blessing upon thine offspring;
He te u lilingi ʻae vai kiate ia ʻoku fieinu, pea mo e vai lahi ki he kelekele mōmoa: pea te u huaʻi hoku laumālie ki ho hako, mo ʻeku tāpuaki ki hoʻo fānau:
4 And they shall spring up among the grass, as willows by the watercourses.
Pea te nau tupu hake ʻo hangē ʻoku ʻi he mohuku, ʻo hangē ko e ngaahi uilou ʻi he veʻe vaitafe.
5 One shall say: 'I am the LORD'S'; and another shall call himself by the name of Jacob; and another shall subscribe with his hand unto the LORD, and surname himself by the name of Israel.
ʻE pehē ʻe ha tokotaha, “ʻOku ʻo Sihova au;” pea ko e tokotaha ʻe ui ʻaki ʻae hingoa ko Sēkope; pea ko e tokotaha te ne tohi ʻaki hono nima kia Sihova, pea fakahingoa foʻou ia ʻaki ʻae hingoa ʻo ʻIsileli.
6 Thus saith the LORD, the King of Israel, and his Redeemer the LORD of hosts: I am the first, and I am the last, and beside Me there is no God.
ʻOku pehē ʻe Sihova ko e Tuʻi ʻo ʻIsileli, pea ko hono huhuʻi ko Sihova ʻoe ngaahi kautau; “Ko au ko e ʻuluaki, pea ko au pe ko e ki mui; pea ʻoku ʻikai ha ʻOtua mo au.”
7 And who, as I, can proclaim — let him declare it, and set it in order for Me — since I appointed the ancient people? And the things that are coming, and that shall come to pass, let them declare.
Pea ko hai, ʻo hangē ko au, ʻe ui, pea ʻe fakahā ia, pea ʻe fakatonutonu ia maʻaku, hili ʻeku fakanofo ʻae kakai ʻi muʻa? Pea ko e ngaahi meʻa ʻoku haʻu ni, pea mo ia ʻe hoko, tuku ke nau fakahā kiate kinautolu.
8 Fear ye not, neither be afraid; have I not announced unto thee of old, and declared it? And ye are My witnesses. Is there a God beside Me? Yea, there is no Rock; I know not any.
ʻOua te mou manavahē, pea ʻoua ʻe lilika: ʻikai kuo u fakahā kiate koe mei he kuonga ko ia, pea kuo fanongonongo ia? ʻIo, ko ʻeku kau fakamoʻoni ʻakimoutolu. ʻOku ai ha ʻOtua mo au? ʻIo, ʻoku ʻikai ha ʻOtua; ʻoku ʻikai te u ʻilo ha taha.”
9 They that fashion a graven image are all of them vanity, and their delectable things shall not profit; and their own witnesses see not, nor know; that they may be ashamed.
Ko e vaʻinga ʻakinautolu kotoa pē ʻoku ngaohi ʻae tamapua kuo tongi; pea ʻe ʻikai ʻaonga ʻae ngaahi meʻa ʻoku nau fiefia ai; pea ko e kau fakamoʻoni ʻakinautolu kiate kinautolu; ʻoku ʻikai te nau mamata, pe ʻilo, koeʻuhi ke nau mā ai.
10 Who hath fashioned a god, or molten an image that is profitable for nothing?
Ko hai kuo ne fakafuofua ha ʻotua, pe ngaohi ha tamapua kuo tongi ʻoku ʻaonga ki ha meʻa ʻe taha?
11 Behold, all the fellows thereof shall be ashamed; and the craftsmen skilled above men; let them all be gathered together, let them stand up; they shall fear, they shall be ashamed together.
Vakai, ʻe mā ʻene ngaahi kaumeʻa kotoa pē: pea ko e kau ngāue, ʻoku ʻoe tangata ʻakinautolu: tuku ke tānaki fakataha ʻakinautolu, tuku ke nau tuʻu hake; ka te nau manavahē, pea te nau mā fakataha.
12 The smith maketh an axe, and worketh in the coals, and fashioneth it with hammers, and worketh it with his strong arm; yea, he is hungry, and his strength faileth; he drinketh no water, and is faint.
Ko e tufunga ukamea ʻoku ne ngāueʻaki ʻae meʻa fakaū ʻi he malala, pea fakafuofua ia ʻaki ʻae ngaahi hamala, pea ʻoku ngaohi ia ʻaki ʻae mālohi ʻo hono nima: ʻio, ʻoku fiekaia ia, pea kuo tei ʻosi hono mālohi: ʻoku taʻeinu ia ha vai, pea ʻoku vaivai.
13 The carpenter stretcheth out a line; he marketh it out with a pencil; he fitteth it with planes, and he marketh it out with the compasses, and maketh it after the figure of a man, according to the beauty of a man, to dwell in the house.
ʻOku mafao ʻe he tufunga ʻakau ʻene meʻa fuofua; ʻoku ne fakaʻilonga ia ʻaki ha afo; ʻoku ne fakatau ia ʻaki ʻae ngaahi tele, pea ʻoku ne fakaʻilonga ia ʻaki ʻae meʻa fua, pea ngaohi ia ko e fakatātā ki he tangata, ʻo hangē ko e toulekeleka ʻoe tangata; koeʻuhi ke nofo ia ʻi he fale.
14 He heweth him down cedars, and taketh the ilex and the oak, and strengtheneth for himself one among the trees of the forest; he planteth a bay-tree, and the rain doth nourish it.
ʻOku ne tā hifo ʻae ngaahi sita, pea toʻo ʻae saipalesi pea mo e ʻoke, ʻaia ʻoku ne fakamālohi maʻana ʻi he ngaahi ʻakau ʻoe vao: ʻoku ne tō ʻae ʻasi, pea ʻoku moʻui ia ʻi he ʻuha.
15 Then a man useth it for fuel; and he taketh thereof, and warmeth himself; yea, he kindleth it, and baketh bread; yea, he maketh a god, and worshippeth it; he maketh it a graven image, and falleth down thereto.
Pea ʻe hoko ia ko e fefie ki he tangata: pea te ne toʻo mei ai, pea fakamafana ia; ʻio, ʻoku ne tutu ia, pea taʻo ʻae mā; ʻio, ʻoku ne ngaohi ha ʻotua, pea lotu ki ai; ʻoku ne ngaohi ia ko e tamapua kuo tongi, pea foʻohifo ki ai.
16 He burneth the half thereof in the fire; with the half thereof he eateth flesh; he roasteth roast, and is satisfied; yea, he warmeth himself, and saith: 'Aha, I am warm, I have seen the fire';
ʻOku ne tutu hono konga ʻi he afi; ʻoku ne teuteu ʻaki hono konga ʻae kakano ki he kai; ʻoku ne tunu ʻae kakano, pea mākona ai: ʻio, ʻoku ne mumū, pea ne pehē, “Ko eni, kuo u māfana, kuo u mamata ki he afi:”
17 And the residue thereof he maketh a god, even his graven image; he falleth down unto it and worshippeth, and prayeth unto it, and saith: 'Deliver me, for thou art my god.'
Pea ko hono toe ʻo ia ʻoku ne ngaohi ʻaki ha ʻotua, ʻio, ko ʻene tamapua kuo tongi: ʻoku ne foʻohifo ʻo hū ki ai, pea lotu ki ai, pea ne pehē, “Fakamoʻui au, he ko koe ko hoku ʻotua.”
18 They know not, neither do they understand; for their eyes are bedaubed, that they cannot see, and their hearts, that they cannot understand.
ʻOku teʻeki te nau fanongo pe ʻilo he kuo ne tāpuni honau mata, ke ʻoua te nau mamata; mo honau loto, ko ia ʻoku nau taʻeʻilo ai.
19 And none considereth in his heart, neither is there knowledge nor understanding to say: 'I have burned the half of it in the fire; yea, also I have baked bread upon the coals thereof; I have roasted flesh and eaten it; and shall I make the residue thereof an abomination? Shall I fall down to the stock of a tree?'
Pea ʻoku ʻikai ha tokotaha ʻoku tokanga ʻi hono loto, pea ʻoku ʻikai ha ʻilo pe ha fakakaukau ke pehē, “Kuo u tutu hono konga ʻi he afi; ʻio, pea kuo u taʻo mā ʻi hono malala ʻo ia; kuo u tunu ai ʻae kanomate, pea kai ia; pea te u ngaohi hono toe ko e meʻa fakalielia? He te u foʻohifo ki he sino ʻoe ʻakau?”
20 He striveth after ashes, a deceived heart hath turned him aside, that he cannot deliver his soul, nor say: 'Is there not a lie in my right hand?'
ʻOku ne kai ʻae efuefu: ko e loto kākā kuo ne fakaafe ia, ko ia ʻoku ʻikai te ne faʻa fakamoʻui hono laumālie, pe pehē, “ʻIkai ko e loi ʻoku ʻi hoku nima toʻomataʻu?”
21 Remember these things, O Jacob, and Israel, for thou art My servant; I have formed thee, thou art Mine own servant; O Israel, thou shouldest not forget Me.
Manatuʻi ʻae ngaahi meʻa ni, ʻE Sēkope mo ʻIsileli; he ko ʻeku tamaioʻeiki koe: Naʻaku fakafuofua koe; ko koe ko ʻeku tamaioʻeiki: ʻE ʻIsileli, ʻo ʻikai te ke ngalo ʻiate au.
22 I have blotted out, as a thick cloud, thy transgressions, and, as a cloud, thy sins; return unto Me, for I have redeemed thee.
Kuo u tāmateʻi hoʻo ngaahi hia, ʻo hangē ko e ʻao matolu, pea hangē ko e ʻao, ʻa hoʻo ngaahi angahala: tafoki mai kiate au; he kuo u huhuʻi koe.
23 Sing, O ye heavens, for the LORD hath done it; shout, ye lowest parts of the earth; break forth into singing, ye mountains, O forest, and every tree therein; for the LORD hath redeemed Jacob, and doth glorify Himself in Israel.
Hiva, ʻakimoutolu ʻae ngaahi langi he kuo fai ia ʻe Sihova: kalanga, ʻakimoutolu ʻae ngaahi potu māʻulalo ʻo māmani: ke hā homou hiva, ʻae ngaahi moʻunga, ʻa koe ko e vao ʻakau, pea mo e ʻakau kotoa pē ʻi ai: he kuo huhuʻi ʻe Sihova ʻa Sēkope, pea kuo ne fakaongoongolelei ia ʻi ʻIsileli.
24 Thus saith the LORD, thy Redeemer, and He that formed thee from the womb: I am the LORD, that maketh all things; that stretched forth the heavens alone; that spread abroad the earth by Myself;
ʻOku pehē ʻe Sihova, ko ho huhuʻi, pea ko ia naʻe fakafuofua koe mei he manāva, “Ko au ko Sihova kuo u ngaohi ʻae meʻa kotoa pē; kuo u folahi tokotaha pe ʻae ngaahi langi; ʻoku fofola atu ʻa māmani ʻe au pe;
25 That frustrateth the tokens of the imposters, and maketh diviners mad; that turneth wise men backward, and maketh their knowledge foolish;
Ko au ia ʻoku taʻofi ʻae ngaahi fakaʻilonga ʻoe kau loi, pea fakavaleʻi ʻae kau kikite; mo fakafoki ʻae kau tangata poto, pea ʻoku ngaohi ʻa ʻenau ʻilo ko e vale;
26 That confirmeth the word of His servant, and performeth the counsel of His messengers; that saith of Jerusalem: 'She shall be inhabited'; and of the cities of Judah: 'They shall be built, and I will raise up the waste places thereof';
Ko ia ʻoku fokotuʻumaʻu ʻae lea ʻa ʻene tamaioʻeiki, pea fakamoʻoni ki he akonaki ʻo ʻene kau talafekau; ʻaia ʻoku pehē ki Selūsalema, ‘ʻE fakakakai koe;’ pea ki he ngaahi kolo ʻo Siuta, ‘ʻE langa ʻakimoutolu,’ pea ‘Te u toe fokotuʻu ʻae ngaahi potu maumau ʻi ai:’
27 That saith to the deep: 'Be dry, and I will dry up thy rivers';
ʻAia ʻoku pehē ki he loloto, ‘Ke mōmoa koe,’ pea, ‘Te u fakamaha hoʻo ngaahi vaitafe;’
28 That saith of Cyrus: 'He is My shepherd, and shall perform all My pleasure'; even saying of Jerusalem: 'She shall be built'; and to the temple: 'My foundation shall be laid.'
