Isaiah 41
1 Keep silence before Me, O islands, and let the peoples renew their strength; let them draw near, then let them speak; let us come near together to judgment.
Enmudeced en mi presencia, oh islas, y los pueblos reanimen sus fuerzas. Acérquense, y después hablen; entremos juntos en juicio.
2 Who hath raised up one from the east, at whose steps victory attendeth? He giveth nations before him, and maketh him rule over kings; his sword maketh them as the dust, his bow as the driven stubble.
¿Quién llamó del Oriente al justo para que siguiese sus pasos? ¿Quién le entregó naciones, y le sometió reyes? Él reduce su espada a polvo, y su arco a paja, que arrebata el viento.
3 He pursueth them, and passeth on safely; the way with his feet he treadeth not.
Los persigue, y avanza sin peligro por una senda que sus pies jamás han pisado.
4 Who hath wrought and done it? He that called the generations from the beginning. I, the LORD, who am the first, and with the last am the same.
¿Quién hizo esto? ¿Quién lo ha realizado? El que llamó las generaciones desde el principio: Yo, Yahvé, que soy el primero Y estaré también con los últimos.
5 The isles saw, and feared; the ends of the earth trembled; they drew near, and came.
Lo ven las islas y tiemblan; se llenan de temor los confines de la tierra; se acercan y vienen.
6 They helped every one his neighbour; and every one said to his brother: 'Be of good courage.'
Ayuda el uno al otro y dice a su compañero: “¡Esfuérzate!”
7 So the carpenter encouraged the goldsmith, and he that smootheth with the hammer him that smiteth the anvil, saying of the soldering: 'It is good'; and he fastened it with nails, that it should not be moved.
El artífice anima al orfebre, y el que desbasta con el martillo al que bate en el yunque, dice de la soldadura: “Bien hecha está”; y la sujeta con clavos, para que no se mueva.
8 But thou, Israel, My servant, Jacob whom I have chosen, the seed of Abraham My friend;
Mas tú, oh Israel, siervo mío, y tú, oh Jacob, a quien he escogido, de la estirpe de Abrahán, mi amigo;
9 Thou whom I have taken hold of from the ends of the earth, and called thee from the uttermost parts thereof, and said unto thee: 'Thou art My servant, I have chosen thee and not cast thee away';
tú, a quien he sacado de los extremos de la tierra, llamándote de los cabos de ella, y diciéndote: Tú eres mi siervo; Yo te he escogido, y no te he desechado.
10 Fear thou not, for I am with thee, be not dismayed, for I am thy God; I strengthen thee, yea, I help thee; yea, I uphold thee with My victorious right hand.
No temas, que Yo estoy contigo; no desmayes, que Yo soy tu Dios; Yo te he dado fuerza y te ayudo; te sostengo con la diestra de mi justicia.
11 Behold, all they that were incensed against thee shall be ashamed and confounded; they that strove with thee shall be as nothing, and shall perish.
Confundidos quedarán y avergonzados todos los que contra ti se irritan, serán como la nada, y perecerán los que te hacen guerra.
12 Thou shalt seek them, and shalt not find them, even them that contended with thee; they that warred against thee shall be as nothing, and as a thing of nought.
Buscarás, y no hallarás a los que te combaten; serán como nada y como reducidos al polvo los que pelean contigo.
13 For I the LORD thy God hold thy right hand, who say unto thee: 'Fear not, I help thee.'
Pues Yo, Yahvé, tu Dios, soy quien te tomo por la diestra, y te digo: No temas, Yo soy tu auxiliador.
14 Fear not, thou worm Jacob, and ye men of Israel; I help thee, saith the LORD, and thy Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel.
No temas, gusanillo de Jacob, ni vosotros, oh hombres de Israel. Yo soy tu auxilio, dice Yahvé; y tu redentor es el Santo de Israel.
15 Behold, I make thee a new threshing-sledge having sharp teeth; thou shalt thresh the mountains, and beat them small, and shalt make the hills as chaff.
He aquí, Yo haré de ti un trillo cortante nuevo, armado de dientes. Trillarás los montes y los desmenuzarás, y reducirás como a tamo los collados.
16 Thou shalt fan them, and the wind shall carry them away, and the whirlwind shall scatter them; and thou shalt rejoice in the LORD, thou shalt glory in the Holy One of Israel.
Los aventarás, y el viento se los llevará, y los esparcirá el torbellino; pero tú te alegrarás en Yahvé, te gloriarás en el Santo de Israel.
17 The poor and needy seek water and there is none, and their tongue faileth for thirst; I the LORD will answer them, I the God of Israel will not forsake them.
Los desdichados y pobres buscan agua y no la hay, su lengua esta seca por la sed; más Yo, Yahvé, los escucharé; Yo, el Dios de Israel, no los desampararé.
18 I will open rivers on the high hills, and fountains in the midst of the valleys; I will make the wilderness a pool of water, and the dry land springs of water.
Les abriré ríos en los altos montes, y fuentes en medio de los valles; convertiré el desierto en estanque, y la tierra árida en corrientes de agua.
19 I will plant in the wilderness the cedar, the acacia-tree, and the myrtle, and the oil-tree; I will set in the desert the cypress, the plane-tree, and the larch together;
En el despoblado plantaré cedros y acacias, mirtos y olivos; y en el yermo pondré abetos, olmos y bojes juntamente;
20 That they may see, and know, and consider, and understand together, that the hand of the LORD hath done this, and the Holy One of Israel hath created it.
para que vean y conozcan y atiendan y comprendan todos que la mano de Yahvé ha hecho esto, y el Santo de Israel lo ha creado.
21 Produce your cause, saith the LORD; bring forth your reasons, saith the King of Jacob.
Venid a defender vuestra causa, dice Yahvé; alegad vuestras razones, dice el Rey de Jacob.
22 Let them bring them forth, and declare unto us the things that shall happen; the former things, what are they? Declare ye, that we may consider, and know the end of them; or announce to us things to come.
Que nos enseñen y anuncien lo que ha de suceder. Explicad cómo fueron las cosas pasadas, para que las contemplemos y reconozcamos su cumplimiento; o indicadnos las cosas futuras.
23 Declare the things that are to come hereafter, that we may know that ye are gods; yea, do good, or do evil, that we may be dismayed, and behold it together.
Anunciad lo que ha de venir, para que sepamos que sois dioses; haced algo, sea bueno o malo, para que viéndolo todos quedemos asombrados.
24 Behold, ye are nothing, and your work a thing of nought; an abomination is he that chooseth you.
Pero vosotros sois menos que la nada, y vuestra obra menos que lo vacío. ¡Abominable aquel que os escoge!
25 I have roused up one from the north, and he is come, from the rising of the sun one that calleth upon My name; and he shall come upon rulers as upon mortar, and as the potter treadeth clay.
Yo he suscitado a uno del norte, y ya llega; uno (que viene) desde el oriente e invoca mi nombre; que pisa a los príncipes como si fuesen lodo y como el alfarero pisa el barro.
26 Who hath declared from the beginning, that we may know? and beforetime, that we may say that he is right? Yea, there is none that declareth, yea, there is none that announceth, yea, there is none that heareth your utterances.
¿Quién anunció esto desde el principio, para que lo sepamos; y anticipadamente, para que digamos: “Es justo”? Mas nadie lo anunció; nadie lo dio a conocer; nadie oyó vuestras palabras.
27 A harbinger unto Zion will I give: 'Behold, behold them', and to Jerusalem a messenger of good tidings.
Yo soy el primero que anuncié a Sión: “Helos aquí”, y mandé a Jerusalén un portador de buenas nuevas.
28 And I look, but there is no man; even among them, but there is no counsellor, that, when I ask of them, can give an answer.
Estuve mirando y no hubo nadie, entre ellos no hay ningún consejero; si les pregunto, no responden palabra.
29 Behold, all of them, their works are vanity and nought; their molten images are wind and confusion.
Ved, pues, que todos son una nada, y vanas todas sus obras. Viento y vanidad son sus ídolos.
